Good video. Please, Can the source voltage to this module be a solar panel?
Can one supply a voltage to this module by connecting a.solar panel directly to the input?
    Thank you

Hi Friend, I am trickle charging my car battery through Dewalt 20V using LM2596 and it's working really good and have been using it for about an year from now. Now my question is I want to protect my Dewalt Battery from going too low on Voltage and I tried using XH-M609 and LM2596 together but it didn't work. Now what do you suggest me to buy which might help. I appreciate any help please.

Any way to used this controller to control 48v battery banks, that after battery is fully charged the controller should send out a command to stop the generator and when the battery has discharge to a certain settings point it should switch off the generator for charging the battery?.......... I need a complete solution please.

I purchased on of these because the Relay is in fact connected to the Pos Battery. I can use this controller to Initiate a Load Dump on my Wind Gen simply by connecting a Relay between this units Positive to the Battery connector Neg. When this units see's the voltage reach my determined level, The unit relay opens releasing MY relay and providing a Battery path to the Dump Resistor. Dirt Cheap Load Dump Controller.

My mobility scooter has 4-12V-22 Ah AGM battery's. The manufacturer tells me I shouldn't leave the charger on for long period of as I may overcharge the battery's. I'd like to leave it plugged in for much longer,
maybe several months at a time. Would this work with a 55-60V DC source?

Q: current range, can it handle up to ten amps? What are the volts limits, i.e. does it pass through up to 80 volts for battery packs and inverters? Many modern chargers have limiters. This is great, thanks for the FYI.

    • @12voltvids
      @12voltvids  6 лет назад +4

It doesn't limit the voltage. Whatever your charger puts out will be presented to the battery. Remember your discharged battery will have a high load which will draw max current from your charger, and then as the battery charges the current will be reduced and the voltage will rise. Once the battery is full, the relay opens and stops all charging.

However, even though it seems to correctly read the voltage of te attached 48V battery, I have not been able to set the start voltage or end voltage to anything higher than 14.4 V (ie a "12V battery). Is this the way it works or am I missing something? I thought it could deal with up to 60V

@12voltvids can this module powered by a normal bench psu or switched mode wall brick (what you call in the video "charge source") if so should it be appropriately current limited (like around 1C) and also would a Schottky diode help, if so do i use one on each wire in opposite directions ? im a newbie wanting to charge some 12v lead acid batteries automatically after they are used by an inverter and mobile power jumper pack, i also see that there are several versions of this module XH-M601, XH-M602, XH-M603 and the XH-M604 ,do you have any plans to try these other ones out? Thanks for the videos i really like your format and it never feels like you assume what people know , i feel i learn loads and i enjoy you taking us along for the journey

Yes it can be powered by anything that provides enough power to charge batteries. I am using a 650 MA 14.5 volt adapter that was used to charge an old battery belt. This way my bike battery will be on a trickle charger over the winter and the module will kick in when the battery gets to 11.5 and stop when it gets to 13.8. Works like a charm. As my bike has electronics (alarm system) that has a constant drain I figure it was kick in for a few minutes every few days over the winter to top up the battery and not risk over charging.

@12voltvids Thanks for quick reply, im trying to build an off grid setup to power a few led lights a couple of cameras and a 2k inverter(around 150AH draw). i have around 200AH @12v. The cameras and lights only use 30AH a day and the the inverter powers tools for a few minutes a few times per week. I'm currently using a mix of smart and dumb chargers between 1A and 8A when needed in no particular pattern or order. There is 240v supply and im trying to automate the process rather than the current manual process. Have you seen the XH-M602 www.icstation.com/m602-digital-control-charge-control-module-220v-protection-board-lithiumlead-acid-battery-p-11315.html i likes the look of it as its mains powered and some say its better as it can shut the charger off completely. There is very little on these modules which i think is a shame as they have so much potential Pb/Li-ion/LiPo/LiFePO 4 etc. What do you recon is the maximum current @12v you would feel comfortable pushing through your XH-M604 i know they say 10A on the relay but some say 3A some even only 1A. Some have talked about adding tin to the tracks to increase its current carrying capaibility. below i have linked on of the few reviews of the item that i thought actually adds to you already clear explanation, and a project charger he has built from scratch i aim to one day try something similar , its a 12v petrol(gas) alternator charger, thanks for you help , excellent clear videos and have a great day. No, that's too much for the battery.
Loading it with such a high voltage will destroy it.
You have to use a charger between 12V and 14V.

    • @12voltvids

15 will probably be ok, but the optimum charging voltage is 13.8 for a 12 volt battery, but 15 is most likely fine as the controller will stop charging once the voltage gets to the set point.

    • @DavidJJJ

I think for lithium this would be great. If you have 3 lithium cells in series then you set the start charge voltage to 9v (3 volts each cell) and the stop voltage at 12 volts (4 volts each cell), I think it would work great. You would want a balance board though to ensure you are not over charging or discharing a single cell in the series, otherwise they will get out of balance over time and will just die due to being over or underchanrged too much.

A crappy design, it will not charge a low or dead battery, it will only maintain a battery if it drops. If you're battery goes below x, y, or z this piece won't even turn on. It's like having a battery charger that only charges good batteries.

    • @12voltvids

@@12voltvids : I had batteries below that, I had to charge them up get it to turn on. Why I call it a bad design is it won't produce power unless it sees enough power at the battery. Aka, best suited for a battery tender.
Among those "603", "604" etc boards any recommendations for one like this, yet will put out/produce/output 12.5v's like a power supply...yet has a ~cutoff just like this one to tell it to trip off if it sees a battery go over a certain voltage (13volts)?
I'm looking basically for one as a power supply regulater to produce a consent 12.5volts yet to stop at say 13. I'm using one of those 110v to 12v ~80watt inverters that's popular with led strips users to power these.

    • @Jonathan-yt9my

In your case, a solar loading controller would make more sense.
For this device, you should have a steady voltage, which isn't possible with a solar panel (depends on the sunlight).
