@@adnan_honest_jihadist5775 Where did I ever say that Radical Highway started it? You're either crazy or blind if you think I said anything of the sort
I love how they designed Radical Highway in 4 different ways: Acts 1 and 2 and turning wings on or off. No wings is such a drastic change that basically turns into a different level entirely
@@unskilledgamer3642 I actually thought Act 2 was slightly easier. But it has a bit less mechanical difficulty and more "aw dang, is there a shorter alt path I'm missing?" I S ranked it and I still saw multiple shortcuts I missed on my S run.
i can't be the only one that lost their shit when this stage didn't transition into 2D like every other Act 2 that was THE moment I realised this game is going to be the new gold standard for 3D Sonic level design

Love how the first time we played as Shadow in Radical Highway he was full of rage and hellbent on destroying humanity. And now that he's returned to it he's once again fighting to fulfill Maria's wish to save humanity.
Really loved doing this stage without the doom wings, felt like an honest and true test for the player to get an S, finding small time skips and utilizing pure skill with the base kit of current Sonic games.
Absolutely love as well that Doom Wings is it's own rank and time so the player doesn't feel cheated out losing their normal time rank without it. It really is like playing two different characters.
Notice how this theme started to have a moment where it sounded lighter tone to the Radical tempo It’s almost as if Shadow is taking Maria’s words to heart and letting go of his anger fuel This is no longer Vengeance he seeks “Justice will be Mine!”
The guitar riff repeating feels like Black Doom desperately trying to make shadow relive "the good old days", while Shadow just ignored his attempts outright
Everyone's talking about 1:10, but NO ONE is talking about how pumping the sequence from 1:54 onward is. Sonic Team locked the fuck in, and we'll be enjoying the benefits in the future.
On the other hand, I'm sad they couldn't find some way to include Cash Cash's classic remix from the 3DS version. It was one of the best songs in there next to Big Arm.
Oh my god I wasn't the only one!? Legit, as I was playing through it, I thought "Huh...ya know, this music sounds like something Off the Hook would make."
This stage bucking the format and being an extra fully-fledged 3D level was such a great surprise. Act 1 was already fantastic, but Act 2 is even better. This is one of the strongest finales in a Sonic title. They saved the best for last in a lot of ways, which frequently doesn't happen in games, and it certainly didn't in base Generations, lol- Planet Wisp and Time Eater legitimately seem rushed and unfinished. For Radical Highway and the final boss in Shadow Generations, on the other hand, it feels like the devs made a point to ensure that the game ended on a high note.
That high pitched whiny synth 1 minute in is SOOOOO good. It really gives a "Fire in the sky, Chaos in the streets, reach the Goal or the world ends" kind of vibes. It was especially pressing when you knew any slip ups would cost you that super elusive S-Rank.
0:22 I love how adrenaline-pumping the bass is, whoever made this remix, they did really great job at capturing Shadow's urgency to stop Black Doom once for all
tbh, i really think they PEAKED with the Doom mid-level Radical Highway, with that sick as DnB track. it felt so full and meaty, and just had that momentum and that sense of corruption to it, while the actual levels were kinda toned down. still sounds nice here!
Ok, so here's a list of every official version of Radical Highway' music that I could think of: 1. SA2 2. 2P VS. (Shadow 05) 3. Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics 4. Classic (3DS Gens) 5. Modern (3DS Gens) 6. Space Colony ARK Act 1/ 1st Encounter (Shad Gens) 7. Rail Canyon Act 1/ 2nd Encounter (Shad Gens) 8. Sunset Heights Act 1/ 3rd Encounter (Shad Gens) 9. Shadow Gens Act 1 10. Shadow Gens Act 2 Honorable Mentions: Enemy Territory from Sonic Forces (combined with Westopolis) and White Space which mixes it with Black Doom's theme. For a stage that's only been in 3 games, that's honestly a lot.
This sounds like going your zooming through a horrifically chaotic place for the final time. It's literally the perfect fit for the level and the game 🔥 And Halloween 🎃

@TheBeastUnleashed87 Both options gave me trouble and I only got A's on them the first time around. A little bit before the DLC came out, I gave these stages another try and got S on Wings...I didn't bother again with No Wings because I already got the Ultimate Lifeform achievement, so I pivoted to getting Untouchable against Devil Doom. How'd you do?
Ever notice how some stages with spinning platforms have this certain beat to them? Considering how Act 2 also has these spinning platforms, the beat of this song is VERY fitting for them as well.
Hard to believe it all started with this... You've persevered through so much to get here... The raid on the Ark, which caused the death of your creator and best friend... Seeking the destruction of the planet, yet saving it from it's cataclysmic end upon remembrance of said best friend's wish... Then the loss of memories, questioning who you are, wanting answers so badly that you'd do anything to have them... Eventually recalling it all before crushing the aliens whom you were linked with... Putting everything aside afterwards, only to be tested by a shadow of yourself... Despite knowing how quickly the world could turn on you, you continued to fight on along with your true companions... And now... You're back again... On the radest highway ever, no longer vengeful but instead determined... Shadow The Hedgehog... Before this is all over, show them the ultimate power!
