Sonic stages (including Sunset Heights) in Forces is always a mix of guitars and synths going back and forth during the melody, and composition wise it’s very reminiscent of Sonic Runners. You probably dismiss the guitars entirely cuz most of the time they’re the backing instrument for the synths while occasionally became the melody in some parts of the track. Eh, normally I’d agree with you but the original Sunset Heights was one of the best tracks from Forces. I don’t love the Forces synth in general, but this theme used it to excellent effect. The piercing synth melody from the original was supposed to create a jarring contrast to the melancholic guitar chords and piano hits in the back. It sells this idea of a rebellious force trying to push back against fate, which is exactly what’s going on in this stage, as the rebellion mounts its counterattack against the Eggman Empire (the music even conveys this much better than the actual story lol). The remix loses some of that, and I think it ends up very slightly weaker as a result. The drop at 0:47 especially doesn’t hit as hard, where the synth is supposed to kick in and really go ham. Although, to be fair, the synth really represented Sonic’s struggles. The increased prevalence of the electric guitar and the change in synth tone definitely makes sense now that Shadow is the main protagonist.
Judging by the heavy usage of the Adventure guitars, it seems Jun Senoue was involved in this remix. They're really giving all they got to make the Act 1s feel like Adventure stages huh?

I would like to personally congratulate Shadow Generations for this beautiful moment in which I actually appreciate the existence of Sonic Forces
the really made me love a forces level and now it my fav level in the whole game
Shadow: no more mistakes! This time, I will crush every last one of them !
BUT THAT PIANO 0:06
Biggest glow up in all of Generations, hands down
Better than the original. Strike's a good balance with the synths and rock elements.
This is LIT!!! And you can change the stage BGM into Justice Park Avenue for full blown Forces experience!
For real?
Acabo de pasar un dia bastante amargo... pero esta vercion de Sunset Heights me salvo la noche, me siento mucho mejor de solo dejarme llevar por este EXTRAORDINARIO SOUDTRACK
🙏
They made a forces level so good...forces, what could've been...
Now this right here... *THIS* feels more like it came from the creators of Sonic Colors and Generations than what they originally promised us all those years ago
@@fastfox57 so true
Yea the tagline of “from the people behind Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations” is the equivalent of Donkey Xote’s tagline “from the producers who SAW Shrek”
Redemption at its finest 👌
I think it's funny that this level has gimmicks and mechanics that just weren't in Forces. Forces is such of a nothingburger of a game that they basically made a new level.
Here waiting to see this level ported to actual forces lol
It feels weird playing Sunset Height in Gens without it feeling linear and boring
They made Forces music enjoyable even with the synth that is absolutely insane
Music has always been one of the very few good things of forces
@@Vile_6800compared to other games we got, it's way too weak in comparison. The combined Force (heh) of that OST can never hope to match the sheer intensity of something like Terminal Velocity.
When Forces released, I was 11, and I played it and finished it on launch day, I remember loving it back then, as time went on I quickly realized how bad the game was and how it represented pretty much everything wrong with the franchise at the time, however, even if I started hating the game, I can't deny the nostalgia I have for it, I remember discussing it back then with friends and stuff, those were good times of my childhood, so going through it again and this time a GOOD RENDITION of the stage felt really great, and the remix is fantastic
Not too different from the original but I love the original so it's all good. I think that part of 0:45 is better in the Forces version though
Not too different?!? Its significantly different because Shadow Generations has more instrumentals, and the main melody is pitched down
Yeah that part felt a bit more epic and dramatic in the original
I like how this track basically screams "confident".
They rlly made a Forces level good. I’m truly impressed 😂
Hello Metallic Madness from Sonic CD.
Hello Sunset Heights from Sonic Forces.
🤝
Getting redeemed in a future Sonic game involving time travel.
wdym metallic madness?
I'm guessing they're talking about Mania, but Mania wasn't about time travel, Eggman just made Metallic Madness around Little Planet again.
@@DpleDualies i dunno theres nothing wrong with the og metallic madness, while mania's act 1 was pretty good but act 2 ruined the mood
Metallic Madness was always great, what are you on about?
Even the US version was good.
@Comkill117 us ost fanboy baiting engagement i see
I'm glad they included this and didn't pretend like forces didn't happen
itd be pretty weird to acknowledge 06 and not Forces to be fair.
I remember when people thought this was just going to be a bonus dlc level of all things, funny times lol.

YYYEEEAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-
Never thought a sonic forces level would have more to it than just holding boost, best level in the entire sonic franchise and platforming genere as a whole.
Mhm. It has plenty of boost segments with some platforming and shortcuts if you’re quick on your feet. Love it when levels do that, gives it a sort of Adventure vibe.
0:36-0:48 slap bass goes hard
Kingdom Valley & Sunset Heights both Act 1s are having a battle for first place!
Space colony ark act 1 is cool too
Great opener
What are these new heights that are at sunset?
This forces stage soundtrack always needed a used of guitar and keyboard. This really fits the music with a amount of chaos and destruction everywhere.
It would of been so cool if they did what Nintendo did with Splatoon 3 Side Order where they took data from the previous game (Splatoon 2/Sonic Forces) and had your character make a cameo
I can't believe they remixed a mobile game level(?
The mobile game is based off a console game. If you haven’t heard of it before, it’s because, well… we don’t talk about the game.
@@Twocoolman115 they was probably joking…
@@Twocoolman115 the mobile game released before the console one, i play it since release and tbf seems to be more popular and loved, which is why I think they removed Speed Battle from the title.
@@xBlasteryeah but the song was made for the consle ver
_“Black Doom… I destroyed you once. I will do it again.”_
-Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic X Shadow Generations, 2024)
Man I dislike Forces, but I did love Sunset Heights visuals and some of the music. The stage in Shadow Generations is so much more better and fun to play. I thought Infinite would show up as a boss too but I guess they didn’t want him back 😅
you know simply for the fact that they redeemed a forces level this is my favourite stage in shadow generations
In the beginning you can hear the piano 🎹 🔥
now that i think about it, unleashed was 3 years old around the time generations came out - in comparison, forces was SEVEN before this one.
Ngl if they replaced the synth with a violin this would slap harder
I seriously wish Black Doom didn’t interrupt the stage because the Radical Highway section takes up two-thirds of it. The entire first third was so peak, don’t take it away from me like that Sonic Team.
That's one HAPPY buzzsaw
You know Sega was cooking when there is only 6 zones and the 4th zone is probably the best one for testing reaction time
They should at least the Rollercoaster in shadow generations
This key art is so good I downloaded a mod to make it the title screen lmao
Okay, now I'm confused. Sonic generations takes place immediately after Colors. They added a Sonic Forces level to the game. Sonic Forces hasn't happened yet. I haven't seen this entire remake yet so I don't know what's going on or if the original placement of events has been changed for convenience.
Shadow Generations takes place at the same time as Sonic Generations. There is no explanation for Sunset Heights or Chaos Island showing up and there are no ingame comments about it as far as I know, but it just seems the Time Eater can also pull from the future
@@Totomeister If you talk to Gerald he remarks on you seeing places you have no memory of, he mentions time seems to be broken so you can see and visit places from the past and future
Tbf, Crisis City is from the future and canonically our Sonic has no memory of it
@@DpleDualies Technically, Sonic 06 was erased from the timeline, but the Time Eater can undo that and bring it back to use whatever location from that game. Kinda impressive.
@@Totomeister Makes sense. Just like with not recognizing Crisis City and Kingdom Valley, Shadow may not recognize Sunset Heights and Chaos Island because those game events haven't happened yet.
0:00 Shadow: I destroyed you once. I will do it again.
Best stage in shadow gens. Fuckin fight me
Omega: Warning! Infinite sighted! Sensors indicate he's traveling above the city at high velocity.
Holy shit, this makes the original sound like an unfinished demo in comparison.
especially good considering the original was already a banger
@@democracy_enjoyer Indeed! It already was one of my favorite themes from that game, this just perfected what was already amazing.
Yes my favorite wartime theme
Full circle moment right here
This sounds like this would be the anime opening
WE FIXIN' FORCES WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥🔥🗣🗣🗣

See? The composition was always fine. The instrument choice and synth, wasn't.
