Awesome tip with the water. Thank for the shout-out!
Squirt bottles are not only handy but fun. haha Keep up the good work man!
👍👍
There's nothing the neighbors like more... than a squealing belt first thing in the morning!
Except for a faulty exhaust system.haha
@@ozzstars_cars I have both lol my neighbors love me
@@joseguillen603 lol
Haha and mine idles all day long with the squeal
Thank you. Tried the screwdriver trick but couldn't tell on the alternator tool cause the nut rotates too, so the screwdriver rattled back and forth. Tried using a laser thermometer to see if one pulley was hotter, but they were all about the same. Soaked the alternator pulley until it stopped squeeling. Culprit found.
Just replaced a failed water pump on my ‘04 Suburban 1500. Went ahead and replaced both belts while I had it all open but after getting it all back together and refilled, I still have a bad Chirp (good description of the sound) going on somewhere in there. I hope it’s something simple as the AC tensioner. I’ll give your water trick a try; those squeals always drive me crazy trying to locate, there’s so much noise bouncing around in there that’s it’s tough to pinpoint. Thanks for the helpful video.
Very helpful video
Reverse is opposite. Got it, thanks Ozz.
sixtyfiveford has a great channel. Good tip on how to get the belt off. That will save a lot of wrenches from flying across the shop floor. Yes, can't get enough of the Corvette footage. Thanks, now my day is complete. :)
Saving time and frustration is a good thing. I'm with you Wyatt, I kind of like the Corvette stuff also. :-)
Thanks for this video. Mine just started screaming this morning nonstop. I bought the upper belt and tensioner. I need to get the a/c belt and tensioner too I see.
Great work Glen and the water bottle is a good tip to get direction. Have a great day and don’t work too hard! 😀👍
Thanks Terry. Hope your having fun with retirement and I'm sure your staying out of trouble. haha
Nothing like a good belt 1st thing in the morning!!! good job Glen! now Helga knows how to replace the belt on her 2500HD. no excuses!
Mike you are a man of your word. If you can get somebody else to do it well then.........nehhhh you tell Helga. I'm trying to sweet talk her into making me some macadamia cookies and want to stay on her good side. Uhm Helga I'll change those belts, no prob. :-)
I've made a few nipple twisting wrenches in the past with the thinner 3 rib drive belts. That sure makes them squeal 😉
Nice job Glen!
You are amazing Rob! Great tool to have! lmao
Fantastic! Today I noticed the squeal on my 2006 E1500 Express was getting worse. I also noticed when I squirted water around the belts the noise went away. Thanks for the video! Now I know what I need! 🤘
Awesome!
I know what you mean, you can feel the bad bearing sometimes more dramatically than you hear it. I recently replaced the AC tensioner bearing on my 2000 GM, very similar. In my case I pressed a new bearing in since the tensioner itself was good. Cheaper but a little more work. Nice corvette!
Yes pressing in a new bearing is the way to go if it's feasible. Thank you Sir!
Thank you for sharing!
Great process of showing and explaining! First time seeing u, I subscribed before the video even ended. Thanks for the info! Water trick will save me a lot of time! Ty
Awesome! Thanks Jeff
Just my problem currently ,cant complain when finally a guy who just gets to it 🍻💯
No time to waste! Thanks
That's a neat trick with the water. Good job 👍
Thanks for stopping by Badger.
Ozz, good name, cool trick. Peace and quiet on my way to work tomorrow. Thanks.
Your welcome, thanks for the comment.
Great video thanks brother. Great advice for finding out the problem.
I appreciate your comment Scott, thanks.
Great point on replacing tensioner and idlers when you R&R the belt. The noise might not just be the belt.
Yes and sometimes finding the annoying squeak is more tricky than first thought.
Yes but you changed both belt and pully . Now which one was causing the chirp?
Thk u Ozzstat u saved me a few hundred beers.
Mine 88 c 1500 has been squeaking for a few days i new is was one of them just didn't know witch.
Save a few of those beers for me! 🍺
Good video Glen
Thank you Sir.
Very good video 👌
Thank you Josh
Nice video God bless you 🙏
Thank you. This helped a lot
Glad it helped!
@@ozzstars_cars was driving me bananas trying to figure out the squeal! And now I can drive in peace
Thanks man
You got it Troy!
Nice job Glen. Should we start the "which belt is best" debate? LOL
That debate is easy, the belt that fits and works well is the winner! haha Take care
thanks for the tip, now I can check my truck, by the way nice vette
Thanks. Removing the secondary belt makes for easy ac delete. haha
yup
This is exactly what's currently wrong with my '08 Savana. Much worse when cold. When our 9 years of winter are over I guess I know what I'll be doing!
Hopefully you didn't get a foot of snow yesterday like we did here. It is Spring, right?? Ouch....
I would have been a foot if it weren't 1/2 snow and 1/2 slush. It compacted itself down to 6 inches. 10 degrees colder and it would have been 18"+. First person who complains about the heat this summer is getting my boot!
Always fun when that crap freezes at night. Free ice cubes on the house.
Is everybody doing a belt video! i didn't get the notice!😂😂😂😂. Great video Glen👍👊
haha i was thinking the same thing
Two persons one mind! Did you get the notice?
Come on Dan your pulling my leg. We all got the make a belt replacement vid notice weeks ago. You must have been catching up on your beauty sleep. haha
at 3:30 when you spin it, the fact that it actually spins so fast means that it is bad. If it was good it wouldn't have any vibration but also wouldn't spin so freely.
Awesome video bro! My Chevy Silverado 2500 HD is doing the same exact thing. I've replaced both tensioner pulleys and both belts, and for some reason I can still hear it. I have no idea what to do next. It drives me nuts!
Mines a 2007 new body style. I don't know if that makes a difference or not LOL
I would recommend using a automotive stethoscope, it can be very handy
Have you found the solution? I have a 2016 6.0. Replaced drive belt, tensioner and idler. No luck. My AC compressor does not have a tensioner. Must be one of those "auto tensioning" belts? I guess I'll try replacing it next. I hate throwing parts at stuff!
Did u ever find the issue?
Hey i have a question for you so I changed my idler pulley and my tensioner pulley and my belt but I did all this on 2000 gmc Jimmy blazer 4.3 liter and it is still speaking what do u think can cause it
Have you seen the video I made on diagnosing and replacing a harmonic balancer? Might be helpful to you. ruclips.net/video/3y3PGMGIxvc/видео.html
I changed my and it stop for awhile now the noise is back what should I do
I’ve also changed all tensions and noise comes back. But I think my transmission cooling lines are bad could that be the reason I keep getting a noise belt??
Are the belts getting wet with fluid?
Mine makes the same noise but goes from a tap or knocking noise to a squeak and squeal and I have all new belts too but can’t find which pulley?
Check the tensioner.
hi ozz the ps pulley in too far is a big squeak cause also
Good point. Any pulley misalignment can cause issues.
I worked at chevy many years there is a bulletin on that did it many times also if the compressor builds too much head pressure it shake up the tensioner did a few of them also
My kids 1992 suburban squeaks a little at idle, goes ridiculous when you turn the fan on but only for the defrost. New belt, new alternator, new idle pulley. Can you give me some ideas please?
Check the pulleys for wobble, bad bearing or worn out harmonic balancer. Check out the diagnosis I did on an F150 with similar problems your sons truck is having. ruclips.net/video/3y3PGMGIxvc/видео.html
I changed everything AC belt AC belt tensioner regular upper tensioner and also serpentine belt on my GMC Savana 3500 and it's still squeaking maybe just a bad belt everything is new water pump, still getting a little slight squeak
Did you check the harmonic balancer? I have a video on an F150 with that issue.
GREAT video...... if i were to take a 2002 Malibu to a shop to have this done about how much should i expect to pay?.......parts and labor...... Thanx :)
Depends on the shop and what brand of part they use. Probably $300
@@ozzstars_cars cool... Thanx :)
Was it the key fob or not - OH OH I have the same truck and I change mine every 5 years because they just seized up and don't move back and forth any more. Way too low to the ground and all that salt in the winter I guess. Cheers
The key fob was in my pants pocket when I was laying on the ground working on the truck. The hatch release button kept getting pressed. Live and learn.
What's the part number for the belt because I have a 2005 Chevy trailblazer LT v8
Not sure, Rockauto can probably tell you that.
What if it’s not any pulley. Could it’s be some type of oil leaking on the belt??
Anything is possible
My 15 sierra barley 43k miles does a small squeak when I turn it on but goes away almost instantly.
Have you checked the serpentine belt for wear?
also a belt can run out and have no cracks and cause a noise
Would that also cause a whine noise when the ac is on?
A whine no. Bad belts squeal and squeak.
Ozzstar's Cars when the ac is on my truck makes a whine/whistle noise would you know what would cause that?
Every 4.3 has a Chirp. Idk why mine has it tho I was wondering if I could get some information on that if you don’t mind. I would appreciate it
There are lots of reasons for belt squeal noise. Too much to type here. I have a video on a Ford F150 that answers a lot of questions on this subject.

@@ozzstars_cars Alright thanks a lot
Damn doing exactly what mine is doing right now, I honestly thought it was the A/C compressor 😂👌🤦♂️...
first vidya I click too, basically describes what I typed in...
It is
We took off the belt still makes high pitched noise that goes up and down with idle 94 Chevy suburban
It's amazing a 27 year old Chevy is still running!
You close to Memphis to change out motor
Sorry I'm far from you, Delaware.

@@ozzstars_cars many thanks 🙏
would a bad belt make my truck run hot
If it was seriously slipping or fell off
Thanks.
My dad saved Soo many belts that eventually pulled the peg board down lol
LoL now that's funny!
New belt quieted it down for only a day
The gremlins are back. 😟
My squeal was the water pump bearing. :(
It's always something, never fails. How many miles?
Ozzstar 58K, but it was 32 years old.
The compressor itself was squealing
Nope.
