I recently got the TTartisan 35/.95 and been very impressed by it. This looks like a contender in many aspects, but has a bit more creamy bokeh and I'm a fan of more vintage style surrealistic busy bokeh so the TTartisan wins in my book! For other people this would be the better option and I'm very glad that kind of accidentally there's options for both camps in this regard, doesn't happen too often :)
Nice! This one reminds me of my 7artisans 35mm 0.95 but the BrightinStar seems a bit sharper wide open! Check out the Laowa Venus Argus 33mm 0.95 and the 23mm, they have both. Silly sharp good looking lenses but MASSIVE
Clicked aperture ring 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. I have the 7artisans equivalent and it’s great - other than declicked aperture ring. (Obviously “great” in the context of this kind of lens 😅). This looks VERY similar construction. Nice review - thanks.
I ordered yesterday from China it will be here in 3 weeks or so. I just want to have one manual lens with a bright light that will give me something more than just a perfect photo
nice review. I want to see how it performs on a full frame camera like say canon R5 or Sony A7 IV? I know its an APS-C mount lens but I see they have it available for Full frame as well.
I've been looking into buying my first prime lens and it's now between the Brightin star 35mm 0.95 and the 7artisans 35mm 1.2. I'd appreciate your help choosing since you have tried both
Have you tested this lens against other glass to get an idea of the T-Stop? My simple test puts this lens around an f/1.3 wide open using EXIF data from my 35mm 1.8.
Could you also review their 35mm f/1.7 against 7 and tt artisan offerings. I am on the lookout for the most compact, cheap and fastest lens for fuji systems. I like the ttartisan 27mm f/2.8 but i might get fujinon if i find it used. Also thinking of 7art 35mm 1.2 ii if its the best one to get on a sale or used I like this 0.95 lens and its pretty compact but not enough for EDC
@@MattJacobs Matt, you said this is the sharpest 0.95 you've encountered, but which ones have you tried to be able to compare to? If you haven't tried 7Artisans and TTartisans 35 0.95, what are you basing your assessment on?
Would be very useful for the viewer if you mentioned that is APS-C , or the mount, in your title and at the beginning of the video. Maybe not that useful for yoyr followers but the añgorithm brought me here but couldn't figure out if it was Full frame or not. Otherwise great video
That is true but honestly after editing and maybe not caring too much about the fringing, it really does look amazing. If you have a well thought out composition, man sharpness wont matter
TTArtisans, 7artisans, Mitakon, BrightinStar, Laowa Venus Argus, Voigtlander. There's several actually. He even mentions a few. I've tried all on X-mount except the Voigtlander because it's not out yet lol
There have been enough to compare this and determine it’s very good considering its ultrafast maximum aperture. First of all, I don’t know if you’re talking about the fx or dx Nikon 35mm f/1.8. I’m assuming since we’re talking about APSC, you mean the dx version. Even so, it’s apples and oranges. Even with a f/1.4 vs f/1.8 one would expect potentially different IQ levels wide open. Since f/0.95 is a stop and a third faster than f/1.8, manual focus instead of autofocus and Nikon DSLR vs Fuji mirrorless, it’s even more of an entirely different thing. Not sure what your point is tbh
It’s insanely good. It’s great to see more people talking about it. Super video.
Thanks Mark! Been watching your channel quite a bit lately and it was cool to see you review the same lens while I was working on this video.
good to see appreciation from senior youtuber to upcoming newbie..@@MattJacobs
Nicely put 🤙

I do like that surrealistic style bokeh looks great

Excellent, finally some one said 52mm lens size...trying to Hood on this !!!

I think the BrightinStar is better all around
Just returned it given the abysmal barrel distortion (on Crop sensor)

You ask about T-stop, then mention f/x.xx... so, what do you mean exactly ?
@@gillesmatheronpro I answered my own question months ago. T-Stop =/= F-Stop.
Would be nice to see some BW street photos taken in the evening in the street, jazz club. To avoid flares and ch aberrations.
Hi Matt. How about the micro contrast of the lens? Would you use it for landscapes at f5.6 or f8? Thanks.
I think it looks great stopped down
What’s the overall height of the lens? I can’t find it anywhere on the sight

How does this lens compares to the mighty mitakon 0.95?
Have not tried the Mitakon , but if they would be willing to send me one I’d love to review it!
Would love if it wasn't APS C and just shot at the 35
Shit, $200 isn't bad
Currently US$179.99 with free shipping direct from Brightin Star (looks like shipping from Hong Kong)
174 euro now!

Oops sorry! It’s APSC Fujifilm x mount, but comes in all the mirrorless APSC mounts
Isn't this a repackaged Meike 35 0.95?
I’m not sure
Como saber se serve em nikon, canon, sony e etc?
They do have it in those mounts
This lens is not sharp, especially in the corners, and it has colour fringing.
That is true but honestly after editing and maybe not caring too much about the fringing, it really does look amazing. If you have a well thought out composition, man sharpness wont matter
And what?
👎🏻
How many 35mm f0.95 lenses have ever been made? Not much of a claim.
Is the IQ better than a Nikon 35mm f1.8? Or anything else?

I think it’s very good even WITHOUT considering its .95 aperture….
