    Thanks for the video and showing us your great photos. I've been tempted by the 7artisan 35 f0.95 but have read that the aperture ring can be easily nudged out of place. How do you find when using it. Is the aperture ring tight enough not to be an issue? I wish they made it clicked but for the price I'm willing to sacrifice something. thanks!

    • @dasignarts
      @dasignarts  3 года назад +1

      Hey Dom!
      Thanks for reaching out :)
      It's true that the aperture moves relatively easily away from 0.95, but I instantly got used to it and I'm keeping it in place. And even if it's out of place, that doesn't mean your result gets worse. It's about depth of feeling, not depth of fielt. I gotta remind myself of this constantly. But I'd rather have it be clicky as well. So for me it's not a big deal. I'd still recommend it with no hesitation.
      And if you're not happy with it, you could send it back, right?
      Hope that helps!

    • @domtomas1178
      @domtomas1178 3 года назад

      @@dasignarts thanks for your reply. Haha, Yeah I can always return it.. But apart from that aperture ring everything else seems to tick all the boxes. I'm trying to think of a solution, possibly just use a small piece of tape to hold the ring in place if I know I'll be using a specific aperture for a while/entire shoot.

    Hi, love the pictures, good job! Just one technicolor question: you said you edited the jpegs, I would like to know what settings you chose for the jpegs (which film simulation shadows highlights etc). Thank you!

    • @dasignarts
      @dasignarts  3 года назад

      Hey Alessio!
      Thanks a lot!
      I think I had it on "standart" and went from there using my presets :)
      I didn't dive into the custom film simulation modes on the fuji yet. :)
      Have you been using these?

    • @alessiomoro5512
      @alessiomoro5512 3 года назад

      @@dasignarts I'm fresh fuji user too, still experienting with simulations and settings. I asked because I was thinking about starting shooting jpg and edit them instead of raw. The main reason for me is to simplifiy the flow (less memory, less processing power, no need of raw converters so more freedom in choosing the software tools) and your beautiful pictures are encouraging me to do so. One question, how much "headroom" the jpgs give you in case you made some exposure/whitebalance error while shooting?

    • @dasignarts
      @dasignarts  3 года назад +2

      @@alessiomoro5512 So cool! :)
      Hope you're having fun with your Fuji!
      There is definitely a little room to work with. When you underexpose, the JPGs actually offer some good rage to lift shadows. Getting blown out highlights back on the other hand is not possible. With RAW it's obviously much better to recover anything. But you could set a custom button to quickly switch from JPG to RAW :)) Then you got it right there, if you know that you have a difficult lighting scene in front of you.
      Or try some RAW & JPG simultaneously and make some tests regarding your own editing style. :)

    • @alessiomoro5512
      @alessiomoro5512 3 года назад

      @@dasignarts thank you for the advice. About the jpegs highlight recovery however there's ghe DR setting which allows to extended the dynamic range, this allows not blowing the highlights. However its usage depends on many factors and in some cases it gives too flat results so it needs to be chosen for each case

      Hey! :)
      No, it's been all natural light, so no flash or LED or anything. :)
      Since the camera was fairly new at the time of the shoot, I had it make JPGs+RAWs.
      But while editing I thought the JPGs are better to edit with the presets I had/have. So yes, all final pictures here came from jpgs.
      Since then my presets evolved a little and right now I have the Fuji set to RAW only. :)

    Ex-Sony dSLR user here, moved to the X-E3 last year. I have the same feeling as you regarding Sony (dSLR) vs my X-E3. The jepg output is so good that I shoot straight out of camera jpegs using custom recipes from Fuji X Weekly and Mark G. Adams blogs. Zero post-processing, just the odd crop as required.
    Not only do I understand your reasons for getting the X-E3, I am about to purchase the 7Artisans 35mm f/0.95 so I "get" that decision too. My new X-E4 is due soon ;)

    Did you find it hard or easy to nail the focus? Did using focus peaking ( either low or high ) make is easier or did you just went with your own eyes on this one for sharpness?
    Generally I don't like the focus peaking because it shows too much sharp edges so you keep guessing 🤔

    • @dasignarts

      I thought it's quite easy with the focus peaking. I set it to "blue - high".
      I like that it takes a little longer to get a photo right..the process is more satisfying :)
      And at f/0,95 the shown focus edges were quite accurate since the display of the Fuji is good.

      @Remy van Beek
      Use High and Red and choose Monochrome as your film simulation. Red peaking on the Monochrome EVF/LCD makes it easier. Of course the RAW output is not affected by the film simulation chosen.

    I mostly do night photography and this lens got me curious.
    Could you consider doing some night shots with this lens?

      @@Pilantravis  @Paulo Ferreira Nice :)
      So then the 35mm 0,95 will be a little similar to your 23mm. And there is no auto focus. It's all manual.
      It'll definitely make a bigger difference in terms of bokeh and light that you get into your camera.
      I did some photos at night recently. I'll send them to you on Instagram :)
