Don't miss how I got here in my first 🇮🇳🇵🇰 travel film ruclips.net/video/cQB0_ZuD0M0/видео.html Next, I head to an unbelievable, other-worldly location: the 2nd highest alpine plain in the world! Coming Soon.
This was so interesting. Parts of the terrain remind me a lot of my own country, South Africa. (The mountainous interior of the Western Cape province - with those narrow, winding roads hugging the mountainside, and rivers below). Lovely to see such friendly, hospitable folks. Take care on your adventures, Karl. You're a cool guy.⛰
3:01 The locals do have a name for K2. Its called "CHOGO REE". CHOGO means big/huge and REE means mountain in Balti language. Infact every mountain and glacier in the north have a local name like MASHABRUM and GASHABRUM, BIAFO glacier etc. But unfortunately the local name of K2 is not used.
no if Karl had any sense he would of just left the money .. a tip anything .. without asking him if he wants to get paid... thats how you do it.. ! how could you leave without paying... ???? these people rely on money to live on , but they are ashamed to accept money because of their hospitality customs etc.. so you put them in a n embarassing position. this guy learned nothing from his travels..
Karl Nice ride bro . Just an idea. You might wanna stop and blow the air filter out get all that dust out so when you get up high, it doesn’t choke out much. Happy riding.
@7:50 Fida Hussian... you awesome kind hearted mechanic, you. Salute to the beautiful people of Pakistan from your Indian brother in Sydney. "You've come all the way to visit my village. You are my guest. How dare I accept money for my services. Go in peace brother Karl"
Karl, welcome to Khaplu. I have also been to Hushe, it's true that the road up there is so bumpy and full of turns. PS: I am the guy whom you met in Rawalpindi and you told us that you will visit Gilgit Baltistan.
15:30 Gilgit Baltistan has more greenery, and the language you are talking about “balti” is just one language, and it’s only spoken in 2 villages of ladakh. Gilgit Baltistan has more races then balti. We have burusho, Wakhi, and Shina aswell.
Hey Bro. The most deadly changes from year to year. There's 3 mountains which usually take the title. Nanga Parbat is indeed very dangerous. I'd love to go to Fairy Meadows one day.
So many jagged and high peaks to be seen on this route. I can't blame you for getting distracted while riding. So thankful to you for sharing this journey with us.
Back in the 1960s, there was Ethyl Premium gasoline., at 110 octane. It was more like racing fuel,. It was great fuel to use at higher altitudes. For the obvious reasons.
KARL , in case those people don't take money at least give them some gifts may be something for their children because afterall those are poor hardworking men. thanks.
Will do. I went in summer, so 12-24 degrees. Do check out this video, it's a tour of a village there ruclips.net/video/RQYrNa1Um6w/видео.html. It'll give you some insight. And this video about food culture ruclips.net/video/CnYZCTMHW6E/видео.html.
You'll hear me say that about 3 times in the video haha! The roads were really bad... It made for a fun video and ride. Do check out my Jammu series that I made before this, in that I have my Himalayan.
Karl I’m watching your video but I can’t chat because I’m trying to get my vision clear again because everything is blurry right now because I had a diabetic outburst and it affected my vision but I will be alright I’m just enjoying your video. Thank you so much for uploading these great videos ❤
Azaz Kashmir and GB region has highest literacy rates in Pakistan. As you see in throughout your journey even in remote areas school's are functioning and people are educated
Thanks Bro! All these mountains fascinate me too. I really enjoy mountain climbing and free climbing docos. So it's a pleasure to get close to them on my bike.
Just one word of advice Karl - take your glove off when shaking hands, especially with the locals. It's a sign of respect. The entire point of shaking hands is skin contact.
Karls content is always such a breath of fresh air considering how legitimate, raw and natural his interactions are. His respect and resilience have no bounds.
It handled the journey well. I was comfortable enough. Although I wish it had better suspension for some of the roads. But overall, it did the job! It's very reliable. All my issues were due to others not maintaining the bike.
Hi Karl. That two whites were friendly. if you meet people along the road and they want to have a chat at least take off your helmet. You are not the king of the world.
I have travelled through Ladakh (India) twice, first in 2009 and now in 2024. The locales and mountains are the same but our side in India has way more tourists than what I see here. In the last 10 - 12 years the tourism in Ladakh, India has risen manifold. If you go now, there will be 1000s of bikers going up and down these Karakoram mountains. I see more roads, restaurants, and people enjoying mother nature in India. You will also see more homestays and other amenities along the roads in India. Additionally, our side in India is much more diverse both linguistically and demographically. The UT of Ladakh has as both Buddhist and Muslims living peacefully and you will find Chortells everywhere which I found to be unique. I also see lots of foreigners in India which is missing in POK.
✨📡🇺🇸 Karl has One of best motorcycle touring channels on the Internet 🛜, Extraordinary Adventures Beautiful Scenery respectful local interactions a wonderful experience 🫶🏼

I love these long form travel videos Karl. Keep them up! ❤
Nanga Parbat is the most deadliest peak bro. It is nicknamed “killer mountain”. You can go to it’s base camp. It’s called “Fairy Meadows”

I've never seen anything like it... it's a mesmerising place. I bet the trek to K2 is out of this world too.

A quick suggestion: could you also talk about the temperatures both daytime and nighttime? Also a bit about the people and about their culture, etc.?

Need to ask you, how well did the cb150f handle this journey? And how reliable it proved to be?
It handled the journey well. I was comfortable enough. Although I wish it had better suspension for some of the roads. But overall, it did the job! It's very reliable. All my issues were due to others not maintaining the bike.
