- An Elevated Concrete Porch is not very common. When I began designing the wrap around porches and deck for our new homestead farmhouse, I knew I wanted something that would last the rest of our lives. I never anticipated that it would take over 50 tons of elevated concrete! The porch build has easily been the most nerve racking and expensive feature of this project, but it MAKES THE HOUSE BEAUTIFUL! The AFCO Aluminum Columns and Railings accent the entire architecture of the home perfectly. I have exactly one complaint about Ariat… they don’t ship to Canada. They will ship overseas, but not to me in Vancouver… there’s only one supplier that carries their boots and I had to wait 6 weeks for my size to ship across the country. But they are worth it. My last pair survived 4 years of abuse, awful weather and almost daily 5-8 miles of rough terrain hiking/walking. Best products ever!
Thought the back porch railings was a totally polished job - looking so elegant with both stair railings. Then I saw the work you did on the front - and it's a truly outstandingly beautiful finish. Take a bow Jeremy.

Fantastic, you have a great outdoor space you will be able to enjoy most of the year and it oozes quality with the concrete, stone veneer posts and aluminum railing. It perfectly complements your house and vice versa.
As for the anniversary present, you have my approval. I'm not a woman but anyone would have to be very hard to please if they weren't thrilled with that.

The 2X8 "bumper" board can be painted to match and easily replaced if it gets roughed up by the trucks that back into it.

It’s really hard to get so close on the finish work and not try n rush it to get done faster, you’re taking your time, enjoy some breaks we need quality finish work that’ll last the test of time 🤠

Loading dock...you may want to think about adding a 2X8 across the end of the concrete to keep the concrete from chipping when bumped into by the truck or trailer.

When I built my well pumping station I wanted it completely fire proof. I did a 8 inch concrete slab. 6 inches of extra strength concrete then a monolithic 2 inch layer of crack proof concrete on top. The top surface is beautiful with no crack seam lines needed. But on the 8 inch slab itself you can see a shadow difference in the 6 vs 2 in color of the concrete. The slab has much rebar buried in it. And rebar buried to support 8 foot high cinder block walls. The lightning Walbridge Fire moved through last year and absolutely no damage whatsoever.
That is looking really great you two! Thank you for the update......Ahhh the final tour just might be in site after inspection! We are getting ready to do our build soon... just need that concrete bid lol.
