I am SO very pleased for you. I remember when you first moved into the trailer. I have been following your journey as you built your dream, the good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful. I remember when you guys were scared that the snowstorm was going to collapse the trailer roof, when you were afraid that the tall, snow-laden trees were going to snap, fall and crush your trailer and when your only water source froze. You have worked so hard, so long, so consistently. You never gave up, even though I know there were many times that you really felt like calling it quits. But you didn't. You always, always found a way. Nothing stopped you. There were tons of obstacles, things that would have made lesser souls walk away, but not you guys. I can't even begin to express how proud I am of what you have done, the example you have set and I look forward to everything you are going to do in the future.

Cannot believe its been 5 years. Have been notified of any videos from you guys. House looks great. Hope it is a forever, but as the saying goes.... Never say never. We are so glad we downsized and yet have land so the structures are not a huge tax liability. We built our forever home but over a couple of decades, the state taxed us out. So now I hope it doesn't happen to you.

I did the same process general and DIY on everything I could,,, but this project was a much larger commercial/residential one AND I was mid 50s… this is my last one too. Like you, I simply couldn’t do it again. I’m here till I kick the bucket, or sell and go full time RV…!

I just started watching your videos, I really like them. We also build a house in 2001-2002. It took us from planning to moving in one year. It was the perfect time to build, lumber even went down in price when we bought it. Contractors were very eager to work for us because construction had slowed down. But it was still hard. It would had been very profitable to sell our new house and build another one at the time but my husband said not. He could not go to the stress again. It's been 20 years now. I would love to build again. It's painful and yet so rewarding.

Yay for moving in!!!! I remember when you moved from the other place, gave up the farming to start from scratch, the minor issues with the well, to starting the home build and watching the whole process. I say take a week or two and try to relax before having a go at it again and enjoy the new home. We are getting ready to start our build in a couple of weeks and I do plan on doing most of the work, we are doing a barndominium home,. I bought most all materials prior and only have a few things to get still. Like you two and I am sure many others, we have been RVing it until we can move in. Single story (cause we are getting older not younger), 12' walls, R-20 under heated slab, R-30 walls, R-70 attic, 1800 square feet 3 bed 2 bath.

I been with you guys for so long. I often remember the pink hair and fighting with neighbors from old location. I have learned so much. I am finally fixing to begin my homesteading journey, at 53. And disabled. So I have to suppliment most labor with technology or hire assistance. Here in Georgia it's almost impossible finding people wanting to work. But i just don't think i have the skillset to build a whole house. So I'm looking for something already there and just remodeling.

We have totally rebuilt the inside of this house ourselves. We have 2 rooms left to go, one room upstairs & kitchen. Been living in it 22 yrs, plus raising 2 teenagers at the time, all their school activities and us both working full time. It has been a huge challenge but so gratifying that we have done all this ourselves. From wiring, flooring, gutting, insulation, new windows, siding, stripping wood and doors, making our own trim. It is very beautiful. I’m sure it was a lot of work however, it’s done… you’ve finished it and that must come with relief as well as pride and satisfaction all deserved.

I loved following your home build. I’m sure it’s small consolation for the amount of time you spent in the original space, but the videos you produced while solving the problems in that space were so informative! I’m thinking setting up and resolving the solar array. All the spring and water issues. Jeremy’s never-ending source of hillbilly-engineering creativity. You were well seasoned when your build started and started off with more knowledge than many will ever have.

Have really enjoyed watching the build (almost all of it!) and really appreciate the frankness of your thoughts on the process. We are about 6-7 years out from building on our property, but currently plan to have it built, and contribute sweat equity where possible -- I'll be in my 60s, and just know I won't have the energy to do everything that you guys did! Thanks for sharing the build!

I started following because you guys had great gardening, self sufficiency and food preserving content. Why I'm still here IDK. But what you've guys done is incredible.

Thanks for all your sharing. 😃
We are building our house by ourselves too. It's a tough process for sure and we might be 10 years older than you guys, in our mid-sixties. We are now trying to get our concrete siding on ourselves.
