Been following since suburbia. What I found most interesting was your transition from the suburbs to off grid and getting your raw land established. To be honest, I've been TUNING OUT since this big house build and all the construction. The way the economy is going, I think the wisest thing is to get back to SELF SUSTAINABILITY as fast as you can as things are going DOWN HILL FAST. My focus is to take care of priorities, pay off debts, and to grow as much as I can, have back-up plans for water, food, and medical. Folks, we're getting lots of warning signs here.

When I start watching a channel it usually starts with activity minded. Farming, canning, cooking and homesteading. But what keeps me there is the people. Whether they are "good" people or like minded etc. Having and doing goals that show their growth and learning. Sense of humor and character. That's what keeps me there. I have left a lot of channels because they either lose that or stop showing try new things etc. The name doesn't matter, the actions and character matter.

For 35 years I worked for a financing company in North Carolina that specifically made loans to "farmers". These days "farmer", "farm" and "farming" are very broad ranged words. It is surprising what the word farmer or farming means these days. You don't have to sell eggs or meat or livestock and own large amounts of land to be considered a farmer. You all are going about this the right way realizing the costs and risks associated with "farming". Who cares what your channel is named and who cares if you are a homestead or not. Your canning videos are awesome, informative and we will watch no matter what you do. There will always be haters out there that will judge you no matter what you do; just ignore them and do you. We will be here for you.

The inherent paradox of goats: Nothing will help you clear away underbrush like goats will. In order to keep goats you have to have some very sturdy fences. In order to put up fences you have to clear underbrush. And so it goes.

The Painting, the hike to the cemetery, Jeremy planning, and building, those crazy framers (oh, that's only a 30 foot drop and 20 feet from a 500-foot steep hill, we don't need no sticking harnesses) Guildbrook already has so many wonderful magic moments, I am hoping to watch and see many more magic moments. Don't change the name. You have a lot of equity built up in it. The channel name does not have to be descriptive. Perhaps update your "about" information and do a short video introducing your channel based on the new direction. And if you want, consider a brief intro to each video that has a short "about" statement. In other words, steer your viewers in your new direction.

Hello. We also did the homesteading on 55 acres , animals, pole barn, and built an ICF home . I would like to suggest looking at Mittleider method for growing a garden. Our soil was bad, so we used this method. We built raised beds filled with a 50/50 mixture of sand and sawdust. Installed a water drip system on a timer and used the prescribed fertilizing process. The food production was amazing and weed maintenance was a breeze. It is and organic process. RUclips channel LDSPrepper has some great videos on this. Good luck on your journey .

A friend from the US gave me some valuable info about my property name. I don't showcase my Australian property on RUclips, but kept a popular blog at the time. I was considering a different location, and concerned if I should keep/change the name. My friend's advice was valuable and potentially lucrative.
They said the property name is my intellectual property. So no matter how I change, that intellectual property is transferable. My audience know who I am, and how I do things, whether I'm building swales or creating art. No matter what I do in the future, my friend encouraged me to value the intellectual property I had created, because it was unique to me.
About a decade later, I've basically stopped working on my property blog, because life changed. When out and about recently though, I was trying to find a recipe. I knew it was on my blog, so I goggled my blog name. I was always the first and only listing for as long as I can remember. This time, I had to scroll down to find me. Lo and behold, others were using my name. Just different variations. One farm used the exact two words, but separated them with "&".
I own the domain name, so I could sell it if I wanted to. Or I could reinvent another business from my original name. My intellectual property, so I can do whatever I like, and it's not up for debate with anyone else. I actually purchased two domain names though. One for the property (development) and another for any offshoot ideas housed on the property. Placing "studio" on the end of my property name, is the tent I chose to identify my intellectual property to do with the property.
I don't know if this helps, but if you don't use your name (including farm in the title) then as I saw on Google, someone will be prepared to garner the views associated to it. If you dedicated the years to make your property identifiable, then why should someone else get the views? Guildbrook Farm is your brand. Everything you have today, is because of where you started from. Just my two cents.

Wow, time flies. I can't believe it's been so many years since you were in the house. I've been watching since the beginning and will continue to watch any content you put out, farm or not

In all fairness if people want to learn farm stuff your older videos are still an awesome source of information. You guys still have that knowledge if someone had questions on old videos.
Whatever you change it to Ill stick around. I dont comment much at all. Just wanted to point out you guys have a wealth of info in your videos from your old place. Maybe setting up a playlist organizing your videos if you dont already so if they want them they can find them easier. They were really well done even though they were years ago.

Keep the name. Longtime watcher here. I'm curious about your plans to be self sufficient in an SHTF situation now that you don't produce anything. That seemed your focus earlier on. Maybe a video on this? No judgement, just wondering how you feel about self sufficiency now.

I joined your channel when you were in suburbia and a lot of great content for preserving and prepping that is why I subscribed to your channel, please keep your name and continued with great content.

Hello! I've never commented before, but I have followed you guys for a few years now. You remind me a lot of my husband and I, and in the sea of homesteading channels, something about yours really resonated with me. There is a wealth of value in finding out what isn't working for you, just as there is in finding what does! I initially mistook a few avenues for failures, and took it very personally. But then came to the realization that some things just aren't going to work out, and it's perfectly ok to redirect and focus on everything that will! Farm or no farm, your content is greatly appreciated and it is great to see your beautiful home coming together; after so long of being a dream! Very happy that things are coming together for you, and that you seem to have a sense of peace about what was let go, along the way.

Guildbrook Mountain gets my vote. Leave this channel intact I’d say. The cooking idea is great!

It isn’t the name. I might change it to journey so it evolves with you. I truly miss the self sustaining life style you had started with. It is what pulled me in. I will continue to watch and hope your evolution trends back to what brought me to your channel.

I started watching your channel due to the canning and raising chickens like you said. I have enjoyed your home build and what you are doing now too. Your name itself is just fine. Just keep up the great work! I look forward to your videos!

I love the name Guildbrook Farm. I understand why y'all are considering changing it. I would not change it, however, change is needed at times. I will add this, near the end of the video when Jeremy is talking about it being a "journey", the word "journey" popped out to me. Like it popped out or the video. I would say "Guildbrook Journey". I love the word "Guildbrook" It has strength, heritage, nature, knowledge and easy going. Blessing to you and whatever journey you choose.

That was the same thing I thought, when Jeremy said journey. I think Guildbrook Journey would be a great name.

No. It's your brand. It's what got me here two years ago and what you've done since that has kept me visiting every week and sharing with folks. I suspect it will do the same for others. If it's the "letter of the law for names" you're concerned with - put an avocado pit in a glass on your kitchen window sill.
Learn. Teach. Reflect. It's what you've been doing all along; with and without a name.
    Thanks for asking. :)

Keep your name. I love it. Building a home is important too. One day it will be completed and who knows where you will expand next. This vlog has always been educational and fascinating. Each new project you take on has been interesting and I enjoy it all. I love it that you have shared your journey with all of us followers!

Well I guess I came cos I saw stuff about prepping, I've still got loads of older content of yours to catch up on, but what keeps me watching any channel is the people, and I'm as interested in you two as people as what you're up to. Ultimately though, this should be fun for you guys, if it's fun for you it'll be fun for us too. You're never going to please everyone all the time so please yourselves first. I'm do like to repeat myself! :)

How about Guildbrook Journey! There is so much more you can do for this channel, and love the ideas that you are interested in. Been a subscriber for a few years now, not going anywhere, so keep those videos coming. And thank you for letting us come along on this journey!!!

Well very unfortunate that is what came of the homestead. I don't know all of your variables nor need to but some of the points brought up feel more like digging for reasons not to. I can understand and personally relate to other things mentioned especially time. Wish you the best on the new modified journey. Sucks to get out of the rat race only to dive back in. I would modify the name keep Guildbrook but yea wouldn't really call it a farm/homestead anymore.

Jamie has built a great army of self-preservation videos such as the canning, cooking, DIY cleaning products, prepping for times like now! Please keep those videos because I came back today to brush up on hamburger canning and caught this dirt video. I have always enjoyed Jamie's cooking shows in the old house and although I am not interested in building things, I would love to watch any cooking shows that Jeremy wants to do and of course when you get into raised bed gardens. Jamie, I haven't seen you in a long time and I really like the new hairdoo! What are you studying and what kind of career are you planning to start? It matters not to me what you call your channel. Just please keep "GUILDBROOK" in the title. Bless you both and the family.
