Using these techniques and then sampling the result to layer on the snare engine is definitely an optimal way of doing it. It makes the sound more consistent as well. I’ve spent hours messing with this engine and I’ve never been ecstatic about what I’ve got out of it so I’m happy to see this tutorial.
There is another trick that I use for that “snappiness”. Use the amp envelope to shape the length and decay of the sound. Then grab that same LFO that you used, but route it into the Overdrive to add that snap!
A friend of mine just given me the Rytm, I will buy the Rytm soon. Dedinetly this one is a top noch drum machine. thank you for the videos, I learning a lot with them.
The nice thing about the Rytm is that if you don't dig the analog machine you can just load up a sample. I think for most of the machines I end up using them not as what they were intended for, and if I really need a reliable hat, clap or tom I just load one up.
This is great. Never occurred to me to use the trig timing to add additional clap repeats to the sound. Clap has always been the least inspired sound I think the rytm makes. Recently I started using the distortion as an “insert” effect rather than something I add to the total output. Meaning I sound design something and add distortion to taste and resample it. That way I bake it into the sound. Same w the compressor I use it more like a transient designer and then resample afterward. Interesting how much creative potential exists with these machines.
nice clap exploration! small tip 1: sound settings shortcut is func + synth. will make ur life easier. small tip 2: give the plant to ur wife. tell her that she is more fit to take care of it and replace it with something that doesnt spell "another cliche youtuber" but maybe something that has some meaning for you and is interesting to the eye too.... cheers and keep on those rytm vids

So hilarious, even Elektron hates picking out claps ! :D
Love the other things you were doing there.. cool sound design.
