In my humble opinion as a music enthusiast i think El Estepario is a game changer. Maybe it's too soon to say but i believe he will become one of the most important drummers for this century. I love your reactions btw.
Check out Yoyoka, a 13 year old girl. More than 500 videos, more than 150 songs played live with hundreds of different musicians (regular at Whisky a Go Go, at 13) 5 original albums (2 of them jazz albums), numerous original singles. All videos are one take. No gimmicking or showing off. Just pure joy. Countless jams, improvisations, solos... Rock, pop, funk, jazz, blues - no problems for her. 5/4, 5/8, 7/8 .... no problems for her El Estepario? Yes, he is fast and precise (but also regularly records 50+ takes for one video). But what else? Live performances - nothing. Original music - nothing. Diversity - nothing It's not a surprise that Yoyoka is on the DrummerWorld list of Top 500 drummers of all time, as the youngest person ever. El Estepario is not even close to being on that list.
He's not smoking a joint, he is quiting drinking and smoking cigarretes, but that's a tobacco cigarrete. That's just how they do them in Europe, usually they're the ones doing their own cigarretes which makes them look like a joint, but he's explicitly said that he doesn't smoke joints in any of the videos.
Perfect drums phrases, multiple colors in his playing, he knows how to mix them a put them in the right place of every song he has covered. This was absolutely brilliant. Great reaction.
1:27 if you blinked you missed it. Look how he switched to the third stick. He flips the stick in his right hand, switched the stick from his left hand to the right hand, catches the airborne stick with the right hand and pulled the third stick out of his pants. And all of this perfectly to the beat. And he is doing this twice. The release of the third stick after this section is almost not viewable because it is so insanly fast. And why? Just because.
Bro, you didn't comment on his stick flip-switch-grab-three-sticks-at-once action, which blew my mind. ...And he did it TWICE for those for us who couldn't believe what we had seen the first time!!! 🤔😳🤣🥰
The stick flip, catching it in a hand that already has another stick in a way that the flipped stick can be reasonably used to blast doubles on a hi-hat, all the while still doing everything else with the other stick and pedal. This man is a machine
He is not smoking a marijuana joint. He’s smoking “natural” regular tobacco. In Spain you can buy a small bag and make your own cigarettes. It’s “healthier” (even though not healthy by any means) than processed tobacco.
was thinking the same thing dude. took me a few vids to pick it up. i mean his sticks are mostly a blur anyway mind about seeing two of them in one hand.
It's not even about the double sticks alone. It's the fact that he throws the stick, catches it in between his fingers mid-air and then has them both ready to go on the beat. And he does it twice. It's INSANE.
@@JustinWebbMusicIt kind of reminds me of when LockPockingLawyer says, "Let's try that again to make sure it is not a fluke." Yep not a fluke. Pure practice and drive. :)

As a shit drummer myself, it's honestly heartbreaking watching this guy move so fast and accurately. He defies belief sometimes. Even though he's using that batshit kick pedal, he ain't cheating. The skill and technique he displays are transcendent. In terms of inspiration, El Estepario just might represent a sea change in what's possible as a percussionist. Excelsior!
Wait he had an extra set of sticks in his waist band and pulled them to play with the other's?? Unbelievable and I watched this video 3 times before I noticed! Haha WOW
That Duallist pedal has been out for over a decade now. I had one about 13 years ago and just couldn't get it figured out, so I sold it. I always thought it was gimmicky, but I wish I had it around still to play with

@@soulessshadow5356 Yea, I'm not sure if the timing is different on that one or not, never had one. Like he says in his vid, with the dbl single, you need to plan on a stroke when you switch it back to single. And hitting the lever for the dbl is a good hard stomp.
What yall missed is this... when he switches up and grabs the stick out of his waist band, he actually throws the other stick into his right hand and is now playing those high hats with 2 sticks in one hand! Lol. So he literally has a "V" shaped set of sticks in his right hand hittting those hats.

Alright-- on el Esterpario-- I do really enjoy HIS content. Probably the best I've seen. Kinda sucks I get more recommended videos of people reacting to him, than his actual videos. On your video REACTING to El Estepario, He is the main focus. He is the reason people are clicking on this video. He should be the bigger image. Your comments add little value, and we dont need a big version of you watching someone else. In fact, we hardly need your face on the screen at all. If you produce original videos, then you can be the bigger image. But not a reaction to something else. Basic video production-- put the Main subject in the primary focus point. If you have a talking point, you can switch the feed. OK thats my rant for the day. I'm going to go find his channel
The dualist isn’t his pedal. Dualist have been around since the mid 2000s. They just never were given a chance until this guy started showing what they really could do.
Thank you so much for these reactions, I love hearing your thoughts on Garrido. Is there any way you can do a split screen with you on one side and him on the other? I watch these on my iPhone 11 while running on my treadmill and it’s super hard to see his drumming during your commentary.

Could be a joint, could be a rollie. It's pretty common to roll in Spain
The pedal he uses is The Dualist!
