Often these pin sized holes don't present till your hose is under presure, this 38 would be pushing out some high PSI of water .... we don't check every hose, but it will be marked and repaired later
There were 3 aerial master streams in use just in different sectors that weren't evident from the video. Still not to the same scale as you would see in CA.
Units designated as "CAFS" have Compressed Air Foam System capabilities whereas others, I think, only have Class A and/or B foam. We have a similar system up here in Queensland.
stands for "compressed air foam system" basically it pumps compressed air with/into the foam so its more effective for suppression of the fire. Overall all drowning the fire of oxygen.
8th alarm meaning how many resources are required to a job, example “building well alight make a 2nd alarm” meaning 3 pumps, duty commander depending on the location. 8th alarm is 100 firefighters, and around 15 to 24 trucks. The higher the alarm is the more resources come in.
. Thank you for the explanation of the 8th alarm. Also the different coloured hard hats firies are wearing means what ? I see red ones flouro yellow ones and I think there were white ones Cheers
Pretty rare to see an SO on a hose line so early in the piece
Very Interesting video.
Love the hole in the hose, thought they had plenty of time to check their equipment

What was the furtherest station that attended?
CO2 tender from Pyrmont
What are the units designed CAFS as contrasted with the others? I’m not familiar with the fire service in NSW.

@@notyouraveragebassist4822 Its the modern fancy mancy way of thinking you can fight a fire using minimal water.
