My father owned a 1983 Kawasaki Ltd Z750. He died and my brother sold it. Breaks my heart. I could have totally built it into what you have built here. What a dream that would have been. This bike is absolutely beautiful 🤩.
Custom building (the RIGHT way) your own seat and exhaust pipes.... those two little tasks right there showed a lot of the skill and care. Nobody does that, except you.......... great job......
I dig this project... I got a KZ750 twin from a buddy for a case of beer. He had it torn down and in several boxes, hoping to do a cafe build. I want to do a scrambler, but for now, I'm going to reassemble it and find out what works, what doesn't/what I want to change before I start modifying. Subscribing!
Taylor that build there is a piece of art! Hard to imagine that what started out as a very unattractive bike could be made to look so great! Congratulations very well done Cheers Robert
I aspire to be able to do projects like this. I don't really know where / how to start learning, though. I'm just trying to finish college, then I plan to get my hands dirty. Anyways, thank you for the inspiration and great content. I'll be learning from your channel as long as you are posting videos.
Hey man, I recently bought a kz750 twin and it’s a being a pain for me. Everything I hear and read says that these bikes have super picky carbs and that the air boxes need to be perfect. But by the looks of it yours ran perfectly without the box. If you have any tips please reach out.
Awesome build mate. Really tidy package. looks amd sounds the business! 🤙 Your TIG welding looked pretty tidy too. digging the exhaust. Was toying with a similar style exhaust for my XS400 scrambler before seeing yours, but theres no way mine would be anywhere near good as yours 😅 the pipes and muffler just really nail that look on the Kwaka 🤙 People (purists mainly) will bemoan the pipewrap, but im a huge fan of pipewrap, it keeps the heat where it belongs and helps force those exhaust gasses out for better performance (and more comfortable riding!) 😉 I like how you kept the tank, the Kz is a gorgeous bike, and that tank helps to keep that dna in the bike, even though its now a formidable bush-basher 💪💯🙌
came out awesome, pipe is too close to the hip area, well it is what it is, great work again, following up close what you do, wish I was in states, I would definitly buy one of your makes. love the channel, very inspirational....
What type of foam are you using? BTW thank you for making these videos!!! I just picked up a KZ750, most of the cafe work has been done 7 years ago. But It needs a few things. So again I'm so glad to see your videos
i'm looking to do this same thing with a gl 1100. i picked up a couple of them on the cheap, and i am in the process of tearing them down now. i can only hope it turns out looking as good as yours. but, i think mine will be less race, and more rat. but then again, i'm building mine to ride, not resell, and personally i'm definitely on the rat end of the spectrum. thanks for the tips, and inspiration.
Was a fun build to watch! Can't wait for the next one as well! Which bike you taking to the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride this year? (You got me to look into attending 3 years ago now. This will be year 3 for me in Denver, CO. Thank you for opening my eyes to the cause!)
Nice. I have a 95 cb750 nighthawk that's been converted into.... well, something different lol. It has nobbies, dirt bike fenders, handlebars. A tank off god knows what. I bought it that way, but have some plans for it. It's the Mad Max bike. So much fun to ride.
I just bought one of these today ! 9,300 miles for $100. Old couple are clearing their house and found the bike and going to do some work. By any chance if I paid you could you make another exhaust like the one you made for this bike?
I want to go with the scrambler dirt bike style after seeing yours. I recently turned a ‘99 vstar650 into a bobber and now want a new project and love what you did
I did some digging for ya Andrew, I found some shocks that look very similar. www.ebay.com/itm/Shocks-14-4-eye-clevis-shock-absorbers-UNIQUE-Vintge-365mm-MED-DUTY-Black/222666439552?hash=item33d7f43b80:g:ZmIAAOSwQiBZ1Cgs Take a measurement of the eye to eye length of the stock shocks, generally speaking most vintage bikes can handle an extra inch or two depending upon how much clearance there is for the chain (too much extra length and the chain will rub the swingarm and/or shift shaft). I'd guess just based on how high Taylor's bike sits, they're probably 12-12.5 inches in length eye to eye. The tires can be found on eBay, just type in "dual sport tires" or "DOT dirt tires".
Hi classic octane, how long can you ride it before she asks you for a little break? I have a kz750 1980 4 cylinder and on the road going at 60 - 70 mph every 45 mins the bike needs a 10 min break, bike looses power and overheats. Is it normal on this bikes or... Thank you, awesome bike
Either the jetting is way off (lean), the timing is too advanced, too retarded, or your headgasket is bad. Does it leak by the headgasket at all? More than likely it's jetting, pull out the spark plugs and see how they look.
It was leaking but I changed all the gaskets and it stopped, the spark plugs look good and function correctly not too white or with oil either, the timing it's on correct position but I recently found out that I've been using 20w 50 oil instead of 10w 40, so the engine was working on heavier oil than it should be, could this be the reason? Thank you Dr
I think the heavier oil is also the reason my bendix spins out position after 4 or 5 seconds I'm pushing the ignition button, sorry if I confuse you a little it's just its been a while I don't practice my English, thanks again
@@manuelbaca7453 Ok, I suspect it's more than likely a vacuum leak. If you have a propane torch, turn the gas on and move it around the carb area. If the idle rises you have a leak. Starting fluid works to but it's less accurate. Do you have an adjustable needle? I would try moving the needle one notch to richen it up a bit and see if that helps. Also make sure that your float height is set correctly. If you don't have vernier calipers, a good baseline is to have the floats in line with the body of the carb.
@@manuelbaca7453 Thicker oil could contribute but most vintage bikes aren't THAT sensitive. It's more than likely the carbs/vacuum leak. You said you changed the headgasket?
I'm working on repairing/restoring an 82' Kawasaki Spectre (KZ1100D) and now the gears are turning on ideas. I wonder just how insane and 1100 Scrambler that weighs over 500 Lbs would be... hmmmmm

Carb kits for japanese bikes are usually plentiful, sprockets and chains are always taken care of by the aftermarket. Usually no problem except for the weird non-wearing part here and there.
I disagree. This isn't a trail bike and probably won't be used a lot off road. It's a scrambler build and it doesn't make sense to have a hand guard on a minimalistic build like that.
You took the time to build your own scrambler exhaust, massive respect

Thank you for not putting on a brown seat and no back fender like everyone else does. Nice job!
I'll second that!
Damn
damn you just summed up 99% of youtube cafe videos in a sentence.
@@kanggoo57 Haha! Yep.
Makes me miss my ‘78 kz650sr cafe. Balancing those carbs were always a royal pain. Nice build!
Love the build. Love how well the original tank came up after a couple of passes with the rotary 👍🏻
Okay that exhaust wrap trick is brilliant.
Thanks, once I figured that out I will never go back to the old way.
Nice build. I got a 76 KZ750b. Its an amazing machine, with a little tlc, I've rode it season to season with little maintenance.
Came out sweet. Seat, pipes, rear fender. Very nice.
Thanks Scott! It would look great in your garage :-)

Impressive skills….both the build and videography! The exhaust system especially. Sweet!

Pretty nice. I just got a 77 KZ750B for free, got it going for not much money. I had considered a scrambler route but ended up liking the stock look.

So sick, especially love the exhaust and original tank!
Nice work! I've got a 79 750B. It's pretty much stock. Great little back road ripper.
KZ's a favorite M/C...very nice enduro project!
Such a sick exhaust note
Wow. What a beautiful bike
You have really come a long way. Great job on this build. Nice drone footage as well.
Beautiful build

Thanks Jeff

Hey Taylor, what jet sizes did you go with this project? Trying to figure out mine…
im doing this build on my kz 750!
Amazing build sir :)
pretty! i would like it with street tires for long riding...

Looks like a nice finished build but the video doesn't show much of the finished product unfortunately.

Where can i get those tires?

Late comment, but what size jets did you end up running?
Are you selling this? Saw one on cycle trader same area as you are (austin)
Hill country of Texas?
how hard is it to find like maintenance parts like carb rebuild kits, jets, sprockets/chains and stuff of that sort for bikes of this age
Carb kits for japanese bikes are usually plentiful, sprockets and chains are always taken care of by the aftermarket. Usually no problem except for the weird non-wearing part here and there.
Depends on the make and model. This bike was harder to find parts for than the Hondas I have built in the past.
Exelente moto maestro
Just wanna ask if u can share a parts list there’s a lot of parts that u have on the bike that would help me on my build plz
The exhaust looks close enough to feel it, any plans to move it?
Nope, it’s worked out great so far. Heat shield also works well.
F'n Sweet bro
What is the back Tyre size?
Can you give an approximate price of what it cost you to out this bike back in the road? I'm trying to compare my costs with others builds.
I have roughly 1000-1200 in parts. The rest is the bike and labor.

I disagree. This isn't a trail bike and probably won't be used a lot off road. It's a scrambler build and it doesn't make sense to have a hand guard on a minimalistic build like that.
Dirceu Corsetti he literally said in his first ride video he’d be taking it moto-camping. Where’d you get your information on how he’d use it?
@@jonclark2234 It doesn't make sense to do a clean build like that and slap hand guards. Moto camping, not aggressive trail riding
Dirceu Corsetti doesn’t have to be aggressive riding to drop a bike and break something essential
