Everything up to the Frieza saga was incredible, after that it all became a greater suspension of disbelief. Due to the nature of DBZ every villain must become exponentially stronger than the last, so two sagas after the Frieza saga just to stay relevant every character in the show is stronger than final form Frieza was, who for the longest time was the most feared warrior in the whole galaxy.
It seems like Goku only said Gotenks was stronger than him only to get Buu stop destroying things and be patient. I don't think Goku really knew how strong Gotenks would really be.
My thoughts too, but through all that, lsm doesn't consider those things. I'm surprised he recognized that gotenks was bluffing several times and Piccolo was just a hopeful namek who didn't know if Gotenks could go ssj after fusion. That being said, most of the logic is there for this video.

I just wanted you to respond, plus I know I've seen some other channels, without naming names, forget about those details, such as Gotenks overconfidence and Piccolo's hopeful statement and assume a much higher power than is really presented. I wanted to see if you would respond, so I challenged you, as I have seen others not respond. I still am not sure about SSj Gotenks prior to the ROSAT though, seeing as I'm not willing to just go off one hopeful unknowing statement from Goku on that. Also not confident Super buu is that much stronger than Fat buu, considering he is just the evil buu who split from the good and then absorbed the good. Based on what the manga says about the split and the change in form, I have doubts whether your math is right. But I never get a response so I can't discuss the topic with someone reasonable.
when goku promises buu a stronger fighter(referring to gotenks of course) but I never interpreted that line as goku saying gotenks is stronger but rather that goku said gotenks was stronger just to make sure buu would wait and not destroy anything else.

Only yesterday I've put this post on Amino about scaling in Buu saga. I chose to scale him in a lowballed fashion... but I've illustrated the same "200x goku" scenario you talk about, and I think it's the closest one to truth. Piccolo and Trunks truly believe that he can be on par with super buu in base, this is of course wrong - immensely so... But there's no way Base Gotenks is not at least on par with what Fat Buu was, to make such a claim.
NGL, I think the numbers make more sense when of base Gotenks is like 2x of base Goku. We saw the fight on Namek and the effective power gap between Goku at 150mil vs Freiza at 120mil. I also think it’s a high ball of SSJ3 Goku to say he’s twice as strong as fat buu. Their power levels being in the billions means that being 20% stronger at 1 billion is still a 10 times bigger gap than the difference between Goku and freiza on namek. If goku’s base is 3 million on namek, I highly doubt his base is any more than 10 million versus cell. That would make him 3x stronger than against freiza which is exponential when you consider the power ups. If SSJ3 Goku is a 1, from what I got reading the manga, I’d assume SSJ3 Gotenks is like a 1.5. Super buu is probably a 1.2 and Ultimatr Gohan might be a 1.8. I only say this because .5 of a galaxy is still half a galaxy. And a half of a galaxy difference in power is super significant. If Kid Buu is supposed to be comparable to super buu, it doesn’t make sense that Goku doesn’t get completely vaporized in two seconds. I can bench press around 200 pounds. I’m significantly weaker than someone who can press 230 pounds. Someone twice as strong as me would be pressing 400 and that power gap would look a lot more than just two times.

Nicodemus Edwards Villainous Yamcha is stronger than Buu Saga Gohan (not Mystic), Piccolo, Tien, Goten, and Trunks. Gohan states that he could even one shot him. The Hero of Conton is a little stronger than Golden Frieza judging by the story where he defeats Villainous Golden Frieza, and needs post RoF SSB Goku to help him against Final Form Mira. Villainous Yamcha might be a little stronger than Dabura, because Gohan didn't transform during the fight in the PQ (your teammates never transform IIRC)
Because it was implied that each of the separated Buus (Good and Evil)had lost a great deal of power in comparison to the original Majin Buu (Fat Buu), although Evil Buu got the larger majority of it. (Something like a 60/40 split.) And honestly, that's more open to interpretation, though Evil Buu is pretty featless, and Good Buu was getting the pink shit kicked out of him by Kid Buu. Majin vVgeta actually held his own against Majin Buu for a while, though he was eventually edged out, which is where I get that from.
I'd be interested on your thoughts for how SSJG scales compared to these characters in the Buu Arc. Or even Gohan in Super compared to in the Buu Arc, particularly when Gohan powered up to max against Frieza so Goku could lock on with Instant Transmission.
The Buu Saga is just wild. Thee Saiyans have all these chances to finish Buu but they dont cause they just gotta test their limits at the cost of the world.

He was a gag character if anything, you were meant to go "Whhhhhat, he's also a SSj3?!" like how Piccolo freaked out. then again we don't really know the full capabilities of a Fused character due to it either running out, or them not taking the fight seriously, Gogeta being an exception but even he was probably not fighting full power against Broly.

There is a possibility Goku was lying about Gotenks being stronger than himself when he made that promise. You know, to give Majin Buu more of a reason to stop killing.
18:07 And that's why we don't go with the SSj multipliers given by the Super Exciting Guide. I mean SSj was clearly 50x base at the beginning, but there are hints that by the Buu saga it decreased to something like 5x (Kiri measurements used by Babidi support this). I do believe Gotenks after the training was even above what he was before as a Super Saiyan, but that clearly only works with a smaller multiplier.
Most of my life I thought anyone reaching SS3 must've have meant they were at a certain degree of power... But you also gotta remember, SS1 Goku and SS1 Goten are certainly not the same thing. They can reach the same power multipliers, but if the starting base number is small, that's not gonna be enough
I love how you included powerlevels without making that the main focus of the video. I can't stand when I'm watching a "How strong is this character" video, and then the whole video is power levels. Power levels do add to the discussion, but are not the entire discussion. Gohan was powerful as fuck, but still got absorbed by Buu. That's not because of power levels. That's because Buu is clever and outsmarted/fooled Gohan. I don't believe it's stated anywhere that scouters measure your intelligence, alongside your physical strength, or you ki output. Intelligence, as we have seen in the TOP, or a good strategy can be the determinant factor in a fight between people who have a large gap in powerlevel, or even just a small gap. All I'm saying, is that power levels are not enough to Guage someone's potential in a fight. They're inconsistent enough for there to be dozens of videos stating different power levels for the same characters, with each content creator believing they have sufficient evidence to support their claims.

nah i'd say ss1 gotenks was even with Goku Ss3 because they both had the power to kill Buu, but you know Regen hacks but we never will truly know because everybody could potentially "beat" Buu, but again regen hacks

I think you're assuming the wrong thing here. It's not that Gotenks underestimated his own power, it's that everyone underestimated Super Buu's power. Right after Buu became Super Buu everyone noticed only a considerable increase in power and skills, and thought that was it. But Super Buu had huge reserves and that's why Gotenks couldn't beat him until he went SSj3.
I think the one thing everyone seems to forget when mentioning Goku saying they stood no chance against Super Buu is that Goku was still hiding SS3 from Vegeta. I'm not saying SS3 Goku could beat Super Buu, but Goku was saying SS2 Vegeta, and SS2 Goku didn't stand a chance. Which is a reasonable statement given what Fat Buu did to SS2 Vegeta. My other issue is the common assumption that Kid Buu is weaker than Super Buu. Toriyama can be inconsistant, forgetting power levels. He as the author implies Kid Buu was powerful however. Plus he likes having the strongest fighters look weak (Frieza final form, Zeno, ect.). I have no doubt Buuhan, and Buutenks outclass Kid Buu, but I don't think Super Buu does, or atleast not by much. Kid Buu toys with Fat Buu, displays the fastest Buu regen, and maybe even speed with the way he planet jumps. Even though Fat Buu has limitless stamina seemingly, Kid Buu wears him out without showing any fatigue himself. Finally, Goku's statement on Gotenks was a guess based on something he hadn't seen, with fighters he didn't know the full strength of. Remember SS3 Goku surpasses Fat Buu , but Gotenks gets beat by the same Fat Buu. I assume Gotenks would have gone SS1 in the fight in the manga rather than take that beating (Goten, and Trunks both could go SS). So why everyone assumes pre ROSAT SS1 Gotenks is more powerful than SS3 Goku is beyond me. Post ROSAT SS1 Gotenks maybe...maybe, but not pre.
Fading0 I disagree with you, I believe that Super Buu was stronger than Kid Buu. It was stated his power rose when he reverted back to his original form but that's because he reverted to "Buff Buu" first, the state he was in after absorbing the South Supreme Kai. So without any direct statements about the difference in strength between the two forms of Buu, we can assume that Kid Buu would be weaker from losing Fat Buu. Jumping from planet to planet wouldn't be hard for Super Buu either, considering that SSJ Goku on Namek could probably travel the speed of light in short bursts (scaling Goku's speed across Snake Way, which was a million miles long, and the fact that he wasn't using all of his energy in one go, then I think it's possible). Also, Goku said that they wouldn't stand a chance when they were inside of Buu, after defusing, after removing nearly all of the absorbtions and after Vegeta had found out about SSJ3.

This Fusion arc is difficult to scale, but shouldn't the First Fat Boo that fought SSJ3 Goku be considered to be basically around Super Boo because the split that divided his power had yet to occur? Then it makes more sense why Fat boo was less helpful than Vegeta against a much stronger Kid Boo. Sense Vegeta was equal to Majin Vegeta at that point.
Its weird to think that Gotenks is capable of that much strength, but my only headcanon is because they fought Buu in the Time Chamber which had to have given him more exp than he would have outside of it in order to go SS3. Especially from inside the room being its own dimension.

Late to comment, but this video was awesome! Great analysis of powers! There is something I've always wondered that nobody seems to have thought of though. Do you think Goten and Trunks unlocked ssj2 as individuals? In the part where they were talking in the r.o.s.a.t. about reaching another "level", you said they were talking about ssj3 Gotenks, BUT I always thought they meant ssj2 as individuals. The thought never even occurred to me that it could've been ssj3 Gotenks they were talking about until now. Either could be right though and your point stands regardless. Just something I was curious about.
Yes! duh, sorry lol. "Buutenks" reverted to the Piccolo form after the diffusion inside him. If either were ssj2, they would have likely been stronger than Piccolo so Buu would have reverted to a form resembling either of them instead(or so I'd think). Okay, that makes sense. You're right lol. It was just in the moment when they said they powered up that I became confused.
Yeah I've always thought of him as stronger as well, just the problem with Gotenks is that he is incredibly cocky and overuses gimmicky super moves for his own ego when he could of just destroyed Super Buu had he actually tried, it gets tricky with Kid Buu though, some say he is the strongest form, but others say he's weaker than Super Buu but far more unpredictable and dangerous.
this is a pretty good analysis somewhat. your points are all over the place but one comparison that is unfair that you yourself mention is how goku could in fact beat buu. you did fail to mention goku's next statement however when he said that he CHOSE not to beat majin buu because he wanted his and vegeta's sons to step up so that they could save the world when goku and vegeta arent there. Last thing too is in the fight against kid buu, goku tells vegeta that he couldve beat kid buu had he not be trying to just waste time and he only wasted time because he wanted vegeta to get his turn. He was just watching with the supreme kais what was happening on earth. id say ultimate gohan and ss3 goku are above superbuu. i never thought of ss3 gotenks above superbuu, more just slightly below. just as goku was slightly below cell. id say ss3 goku was slightly below kid buu as well.
I think Goku was only stalling for time in his fight with Fat Buu. He could have beat him but Goku knew that he had a time limit on how long he could maintain his ssj3 form whithout burning all his time he could spend on Earth because he was dead. Also i think maybe it was not only because if Goku's body got destroyed in the fight he would have to get a "new one" like Vegeta he didnt wanna take the risk even knowing he was stronger. But i totally agree that the characters bluff alot abot their lvls of power, its just hard to think that ssj Gotenks is stronger then ssj3 Goku. But you prolly absolutely right man hahahaha
in the fight with Super Buu against ~Gotenks, we can clearly see Gotenks is just messing around. He tanks every attack by Super Buu and never heals once, yet at the end of the fight is still fresh as a daisy, and he's still in control.
1 thing that blows my mind is I never saw Kid Goten or Kid Trunks become SS2, and Gotenks can use SS3, but Goku and Vegeta didn't use SS3 Vegeto, then again, they didn't need SS3 Vegeto
It makes no sense that Laughingstock keeps underestimating the hazardous climate the time chamber presents and how a novel experience in this environment tremendously boosts all relevant characters involved. (The trek on namek, any first time entering the time chamber always presents a 1-time buff that doesn't seem to happen again to such a large degree.)

Basically Goku himself clarified it: The held back SSJ3 used against Fat Buu: unable to beat Fat Buu SSJ1 Gotenks (pre-ROSAT): had chances against Fat Buu but it was a dangerous bet SSJ3 Goku at full power (vs Kid Buu): would have beaten Fat Buu for sure So I think: post-ROSAT SSJ1 Gotenks > full power SSJ3 Goku > pre-ROSAT SSJ1 Gotenks > held back SSJ3 Goku
This is going to be one of my favorite dragonball-themed videos, I believe. Your theory makes perfect sense, and I'm very curious if anyone can actually find any arguments that could nullify it. I personally put SSJ3 Gotenks at roughly 10x SSJ3 Goku and Gohan at 12x while Super Buu is a solid 8x SSJ3 Goku. Are you also going to make a video on the Kais that Buu absorbed prior to the events of Dragonball? I haven't been able to find a detailed video and the whole thing confuses me. I'd say that Southern Kai equals Kid Buu and SSJ3 Goku, based on his fight with Kid Buu. However, considering the fact that Super Buu is leagues ahead of SSJ3 Goku and taking into account the fact that Super Buu is Kid Buu with the Southern Supreme Kai and the Grand Supreme Kai absorbed, wouldn't that imply that the Grand Supreme Kai is several times stronger than Kid Buu? Assuming that absorptions result in Buu's power being increased by the exact amount of power his victim has (as in 3+3=6, for example). That would also explain why the Grand Supreme Kai is able to supress Buu's power from within, and the more I think about it, isn't it entirely possible that Fat Buu having two Kais inside of him is the very reason he was chosen to be in the tournament? Just think about it. Goku and Vegeta achieved God Ki, Piccolo used to be a deity and Majin Buu has two Kais (i.e. deities) inside of him. Then again, that's probably just wishful thinking. TL;DR Great vid, are you gonna do one on Buu's absorption of the Supreme Kais as well?
I believe there are guidebooks that cite base Vegito as roughly equivalent to SSJ3 Goku in power, meaning Super Vegito would be 50x SSJ3 Goku. If you assume the Gohan absorption at least doubled Super Buu's strength, then Super Buu without absorptions (and by extension, Gotenks) would be less than 25x SSJ3 Goku by that account.

I'd say, makes more sense than Macky. I'm a power scaler too, I was still unsure on few things. Especially the training boosts,of Goku and Vegeta between cell saga and buy saga.
I agree with Gotenks' power but I think Fat Buu was (in oyur scaling) 0.75x instead of 0.5x I just wanted to say this to cure my ocd

In the end, it all revolves around Gotenks' boost after he trained.
I chose to scale him in a lowballed fashion... but I've illustrated the same "200x goku" scenario you talk about, and I think it's the closest one to truth.
Piccolo and Trunks truly believe that he can be on par with super buu in base, this is of course wrong - immensely so...
But there's no way Base Gotenks is not at least on par with what Fat Buu was, to make such a claim.
NGL, I think the numbers make more sense when of base Gotenks is like 2x of base Goku. We saw the fight on Namek and the effective power gap between Goku at 150mil vs Freiza at 120mil. I also think it’s a high ball of SSJ3 Goku to say he’s twice as strong as fat buu. Their power levels being in the billions means that being 20% stronger at 1 billion is still a 10 times bigger gap than the difference between Goku and freiza on namek. If goku’s base is 3 million on namek, I highly doubt his base is any more than 10 million versus cell. That would make him 3x stronger than against freiza which is exponential when you consider the power ups. If SSJ3 Goku is a 1, from what I got reading the manga, I’d assume SSJ3 Gotenks is like a 1.5. Super buu is probably a 1.2 and Ultimatr Gohan might be a 1.8. I only say this because .5 of a galaxy is still half a galaxy. And a half of a galaxy difference in power is super significant. If Kid Buu is supposed to be comparable to super buu, it doesn’t make sense that Goku doesn’t get completely vaporized in two seconds.
I can bench press around 200 pounds. I’m significantly weaker than someone who can press 230 pounds. Someone twice as strong as me would be pressing 400 and that power gap would look a lot more than just two times.

Nicodemus Edwards Villainous Yamcha is stronger than Buu Saga Gohan (not Mystic), Piccolo, Tien, Goten, and Trunks. Gohan states that he could even one shot him. The Hero of Conton is a little stronger than Golden Frieza judging by the story where he defeats Villainous Golden Frieza, and needs post RoF SSB Goku to help him against Final Form Mira. Villainous Yamcha might be a little stronger than Dabura, because Gohan didn't transform during the fight in the PQ (your teammates never transform IIRC)

jamaine gardner I didn't catch that. Even seperated, the Buu halves are still ssj3 level.
Because it was implied that each of the separated Buus (Good and Evil)had lost a great deal of power in comparison to the original Majin Buu (Fat Buu), although Evil Buu got the larger majority of it. (Something like a 60/40 split.)
And honestly, that's more open to interpretation, though Evil Buu is pretty featless, and Good Buu was getting the pink shit kicked out of him by Kid Buu.
Majin vVgeta actually held his own against Majin Buu for a while, though he was eventually edged out, which is where I get that from.

He was a gag character if anything, you were meant to go "Whhhhhat, he's also a SSj3?!" like how Piccolo freaked out. then again we don't really know the full capabilities of a Fused character due to it either running out, or them not taking the fight seriously, Gogeta being an exception but even he was probably not fighting full power against Broly.

I mean SSj was clearly 50x base at the beginning, but there are hints that by the Buu saga it decreased to something like 5x (Kiri measurements used by Babidi support this). I do believe Gotenks after the training was even above what he was before as a Super Saiyan, but that clearly only works with a smaller multiplier.

Most of my life I thought anyone reaching SS3 must've have meant they were at a certain degree of power... But you also gotta remember, SS1 Goku and SS1 Goten are certainly not the same thing. They can reach the same power multipliers, but if the starting base number is small, that's not gonna be enough

I love how you included powerlevels without making that the main focus of the video. I can't stand when I'm watching a "How strong is this character" video, and then the whole video is power levels. Power levels do add to the discussion, but are not the entire discussion. Gohan was powerful as fuck, but still got absorbed by Buu. That's not because of power levels. That's because Buu is clever and outsmarted/fooled Gohan. I don't believe it's stated anywhere that scouters measure your intelligence, alongside your physical strength, or you ki output. Intelligence, as we have seen in the TOP, or a good strategy can be the determinant factor in a fight between people who have a large gap in powerlevel, or even just a small gap.
All I'm saying, is that power levels are not enough to Guage someone's potential in a fight. They're inconsistent enough for there to be dozens of videos stating different power levels for the same characters, with each content creator believing they have sufficient evidence to support their claims.

I think you're assuming the wrong thing here. It's not that Gotenks underestimated his own power, it's that everyone underestimated Super Buu's power. Right after Buu became Super Buu everyone noticed only a considerable increase in power and skills, and thought that was it. But Super Buu had huge reserves and that's why Gotenks couldn't beat him until he went SSj3.
I think the one thing everyone seems to forget when mentioning Goku saying they stood no chance against Super Buu is that Goku was still hiding SS3 from Vegeta. I'm not saying SS3 Goku could beat Super Buu, but Goku was saying SS2 Vegeta, and SS2 Goku didn't stand a chance. Which is a reasonable statement given what Fat Buu did to SS2 Vegeta.
My other issue is the common assumption that Kid Buu is weaker than Super Buu. Toriyama can be inconsistant, forgetting power levels. He as the author implies Kid Buu was powerful however. Plus he likes having the strongest fighters look weak (Frieza final form, Zeno, ect.). I have no doubt Buuhan, and Buutenks outclass Kid Buu, but I don't think Super Buu does, or atleast not by much. Kid Buu toys with Fat Buu, displays the fastest Buu regen, and maybe even speed with the way he planet jumps. Even though Fat Buu has limitless stamina seemingly, Kid Buu wears him out without showing any fatigue himself.
Finally, Goku's statement on Gotenks was a guess based on something he hadn't seen, with fighters he didn't know the full strength of. Remember SS3 Goku surpasses Fat Buu , but Gotenks gets beat by the same Fat Buu. I assume Gotenks would have gone SS1 in the fight in the manga rather than take that beating (Goten, and Trunks both could go SS). So why everyone assumes pre ROSAT SS1 Gotenks is more powerful than SS3 Goku is beyond me. Post ROSAT SS1 Gotenks maybe...maybe, but not pre.

Fading0 I disagree with you, I believe that Super Buu was stronger than Kid Buu. It was stated his power rose when he reverted back to his original form but that's because he reverted to "Buff Buu" first, the state he was in after absorbing the South Supreme Kai. So without any direct statements about the difference in strength between the two forms of Buu, we can assume that Kid Buu would be weaker from losing Fat Buu. Jumping from planet to planet wouldn't be hard for Super Buu either, considering that SSJ Goku on Namek could probably travel the speed of light in short bursts (scaling Goku's speed across Snake Way, which was a million miles long, and the fact that he wasn't using all of his energy in one go, then I think it's possible).
Also, Goku said that they wouldn't stand a chance when they were inside of Buu, after defusing, after removing nearly all of the absorbtions and after Vegeta had found out about SSJ3.
Goku was referring to future Gotenks. Nothing implies that Gotenks pre-time chamber was stronger than Goku. In fact it seems like the opposite.

This Fusion arc is difficult to scale, but shouldn't the First Fat Boo that fought SSJ3 Goku be considered to be basically around Super Boo because the split that divided his power had yet to occur? Then it makes more sense why Fat boo was less helpful than Vegeta against a much stronger Kid Boo. Sense Vegeta was equal to Majin Vegeta at that point.
Its weird to think that Gotenks is capable of that much strength, but my only headcanon is because they fought Buu in the Time Chamber which had to have given him more exp than he would have outside of it in order to go SS3. Especially from inside the room being its own dimension.

Late to comment, but this video was awesome! Great analysis of powers! There is something I've always wondered that nobody seems to have thought of though. Do you think Goten and Trunks unlocked ssj2 as individuals? In the part where they were talking in the r.o.s.a.t. about reaching another "level", you said they were talking about ssj3 Gotenks, BUT I always thought they meant ssj2 as individuals. The thought never even occurred to me that it could've been ssj3 Gotenks they were talking about until now. Either could be right though and your point stands regardless. Yes! duh, sorry lol. "Buutenks" reverted to the Piccolo form after the diffusion inside him. If either were ssj2, they would have likely been stronger than Piccolo so Buu would have reverted to a form resembling either of them instead(or so I'd think). Okay, that makes sense. You're right lol. It was just in the moment when they said they powered up that I became confused.

Yeah I've always thought of him as stronger as well, just the problem with Gotenks is that he is incredibly cocky and overuses gimmicky super moves for his own ego when he could of just destroyed Super Buu had he actually tried, it gets tricky with Kid Buu though, some say he is the strongest form, but others say he's weaker than Super Buu but far more unpredictable and dangerous.
this is a pretty good analysis somewhat. your points are all over the place but one comparison that is unfair that you yourself mention is how goku could in fact beat buu. you did fail to mention goku's next statement however when he said that he CHOSE not to beat majin buu because he wanted his and vegeta's sons to step up so that they could save the world when goku and vegeta arent there. Last thing too is in the fight against kid buu, goku tells vegeta that he couldve beat kid buu had he not be trying to just waste time and he only wasted time because he wanted vegeta to get his turn. Last thing to note, from the time goku leaves the gang because his time is up, all the way to the time when he gets revived, goku did not train. He was just watching with the supreme kais what was happening on earth.
Saying all that it is unfair to say goku ssj3 is stronger than majin buu and weaker than super buu when in fact he was about as strong as kid buu if not only slightly less weaker.

I think Goku was only stalling for time in his fight with Fat Buu. He could have beat him but Goku knew that he had a time limit on how long he could maintain his ssj3 form whithout burning all his time he could spend on Earth because he was dead. Also i think maybe it was not only because if Goku's body got destroyed in the fight he would have to get a "new one" like Vegeta he didnt wanna take the risk even knowing he was stronger. But i totally agree that the characters bluff alot abot their lvls of power, its just hard to think that ssj Gotenks is stronger then ssj3 Goku. But you prolly absolutely right man hahahaha

1 thing that blows my mind is I never saw Kid Goten or Kid Trunks become SS2, and Gotenks can use SS3, but Goku and Vegeta didn't use SS3 Vegeto, then again, they didn't need SS3 Vegeto

It makes no sense that Laughingstock keeps underestimating the hazardous climate the time chamber presents and how a novel experience in this environment tremendously boosts all relevant characters involved. (The trek on namek, any first time entering the time chamber always presents a 1-time buff that doesn't seem to happen again to such a large degree.)

Basically Goku himself clarified it:
The held back SSJ3 used against Fat Buu: unable to beat Fat Buu

I personally put SSJ3 Gotenks at roughly 10x SSJ3 Goku and Gohan at 12x while Super Buu is a solid 8x SSJ3 Goku.
Are you also going to make a video on the Kais that Buu absorbed prior to the events of Dragonball? I haven't been able to find a detailed video and the whole thing confuses me. I'd say that Southern Kai equals Kid Buu and SSJ3 Goku, based on his fight with Kid Buu. However, considering the fact that Super Buu is leagues ahead of SSJ3 Goku and taking into account the fact that Super Buu is Kid Buu with the Southern Supreme Kai and the Grand Supreme Kai absorbed, wouldn't that imply that the Grand Supreme Kai is several times stronger than Kid Buu? Assuming that absorptions result in Buu's power being increased by the exact amount of power his victim has (as in 3+3=6, for example). That would also explain why the Grand Supreme Kai is able to supress Buu's power from within, and the more I think about it, isn't it entirely possible that Fat Buu having two Kais inside of him is the very reason he was chosen to be in the tournament? Just think about it. Goku and Vegeta achieved God Ki, Piccolo used to be a deity and Majin Buu has two Kais (i.e. deities) inside of him. Then again, that's probably just wishful thinking.

I believe there are guidebooks that cite base Vegito as roughly equivalent to SSJ3 Goku in power, meaning Super Vegito would be 50x SSJ3 Goku. If you assume the Gohan absorption at least doubled Super Buu's strength, then Super Buu without absorptions (and by extension, Gotenks) would be less than 25x SSJ3 Goku by that account.
