Cubs didn't fail to offer Stroman an extension, he opted out of the contract.
Yeah but they expected him to opt out. Report was, “The Cubs say they have no intention to offer starter Marcus Stroman a contract extension after the season”. -Per Bob Nightengale

@@WobblyGobl1nwhat does that have to do with a hypothetical extension? Yea he opted out of his 1 year remaining. If he opted out or didn’t, he wasn’t getting an extension from the cubs.

I'm shocked that fans enjoy this guy. All his twitter beefs and tantrums, all of it directed at others like a spoiled kid. I'd be pissed if my team signed him, he's completely unlikeable. He had half a good season, I'm sure he'll get paid too much. Clubhouse cancer.
Agree. He has always acted like the victim, He's very soft, getting offended over things that other people have dealt with like adults. I cant stand this guy. He's such a child.

One thing that wasn’t mentioned was that when the new (and current) guard rolled into Toronto and they traded him there were reports of a screaming match between the front office and Stroman. They’ve been tight lipped about the whole thing since but I don’t think they’re worried about the fans welcoming him back more the fact that the Front office doesn’t want him.
I should say they traded him near the end of his team control, not immediately. But there were articles in Toronto on how he was very vocal about his frustrations about tearing down the 2015/16 rosters after the new FO moved in.
and thats why he's loved in Toronto, nobody wanted to tear tat team down and it shouldnt of been, they should of ran it back for 1 more@@blahblah9135

One of the issues I had with him was he had way too many pitches. At one point in Toronto he had 6 pitches that he was working on, and struggled with most of them. He was better as a sinker pitcher cuz he pitches for contact

I don't think it was a coincidence that last year, the Cubs struggled with him in the rotation despite him pitching pretty well, then they made a miracle turnaround when he was out injured, but then they collapsed the final month when he returned. The Cubs are well-stocked with young stud pitchers in the minors, so Stroman won't be missed.

Everyone on the Cubs loved him. Almost every Cubs fan loves him. I think Stroman and Steele were dueling aces most of the season until Stroman got injured. The collapse at the end of the season had literally nothing to do with him. Hopefully the Cubs sign him this offseason.

I loved him growing up on the jays but when we traded him for our rebuild he talked bad about the franchise and saying we'll never build a contender rather than understanding it didnt make sense keeping him when we could get value for him, which turned into us trading for Berrios so we won

Stroman does more with children’s charities than most . He’s a good man !

So for whatever reason the creator of this video has something against Stroman. A lot of people like him. I'd say the majority of baseball fans in Canada would love to see him back. In the video the claim is that "he sucked", but the truth is he's had a pretty good 9 year career so far with only Nola, Wheeler and Castillo being the only pitchers in MLB more valuable by WAR in their careers over that span.
I like Stroman a lot. Disagree with some stuff, but he’s one of my favorite pitchers to watch. I went year by year explaining his statistics. Bad years, but a lot of really good ones as well. After his Mets time, and last year with the Cubs, should be nice.
I agree with u Stroman is a great pitcher yes he has a bit of a fiery personally but I would of loved to see him still in a blue Jay's Jersey!!

I was waiting for that as well. I can’t stand him and no surprise ThinSkinStro sat out 2020 and received a full salary because he was afraid of a common cold. Just by that you can tell who he votes for. Definition of soft.

Great player & cool dude, his highly competitive & confidence does rub people the wrong way & I see it. But as a Mets fan I LOVED him, brought a swagger to the field that a lot of teams need. Also I wouldn't say the team hated him as A LOT of them were seen wearing his brand SHUGO last year often & Lindor ALWAYS had a SHUGO durag on in game. So I don't think everything we read is true.

Would be a great addition honestly. Trading Soto obviously sucks, but the Padres made a move man. Got a lot of young controllable arms, who I think can really do a lot. Getting Stroman or just someone would be big

Never hated the guy, but didn't want him on the Yankees. Not sure what all the noise was from the Mets because the guy grew up in Long Island. Too bad it didn't work out for him in Queens. The biggest move that he made that I disliked was when he chose to not pitch for Team Puerto Rico. Dislike is one thing, but I prefer to say he is controversial rather than "hated everywhere"

He called out the GM for not extending/paying him, then drew a dollar sign in the mound before he pitched the next time. Then he opted out of the last year of his contract where he would have gotten 20 million, so yeah, he’s not going to be with the Cubs any longer

Nope. Made it pretty clear, this video was more so based off of reports. Currently, its the reason he’s not signed (shoutout Yankees situation). Stromans a fun player to watch. But many dislike him, for the reasons listed in this video.
