Late season muzzleloader hunting as well as late season duck hunters are a special breed of hunter. You’ve got to embrace the weather and challenges it brings. Lol the Carlson boys and friends were built for this. I’m heading out for the last two days of NYS muzzleloader season a New Year’s Day deer would sure be memorable.

Nice video. Love the SS Minnow. Looks like the ark has seen many adventures. Maybe you can answer a question for me. Years back I was backpacking in The Porcupine Mountins in The UP.. My trip was the week after Labor Day. I found beat scat on the trail and my attntion turned to nt getting between a bear and a cub. Out of nowhere two men appear head on, on the trail. They leaned the guns up agaainst a tree. kThe guns that they had were taller than me and all blacl. They were wearing clothes from the 1800s. I never heard a twig snap as we met. I was wearing earth tone clothes, unaware that hunting was happening. I know the description is vague. I thought i ran into Daniel Boone. What type of gun dko you think they might have had. Never seen the style before.
That time of year it would have been bear hunters. The porkies has had many bear/hiker problems and hunting them is the only real solution. Yes most hunters are very quiet in the woods, by your description sounds like old fashioned flint lock muzzle loader guns maybe.
That opossum didn't like you putting the camera in his face. Let em go and grow is right! always next year. Very cool to see the big pleated woodpeckers. I've only seen some of them very few times while in the woods. Glad you had a successful hunt and got some meat in your freezer. - Tyler
Went I was watching the video taught I could smell 👃 the onions 🧅 frying in the cast iron frying pan Chris . You need to build yourself tree house out off the wind 🌬 for shooting videos. Great video Chris . All the best in 2024 . 😊
The ice sure looked sketchy on the deer drive!😮 How deep was the water when the boat wouldnt go any further? The Pilated Woodpeckers are hard to get pictures of because they dont tend to stay in one place long. Land, peck, fly 30 yards and repeat! I had 18 Turkeys in the backyard yesterday morning. One of the Toms kept chasing and finally a hen grabbed him by the back of the head and just held his head on the ground for atleast 5 minutes. She then started dragging him away from the group and he flew across the creek when she finally let go. I had never seen that before but I honestly thought she was gonna kill him! Thanks for taking us to the woods! Much appreciated!👍

Still open tags and the Holiday Hunt ends Jan 1🙄 Only seen one deer since Dec 24 and it was on the wrong property, hopefully todays little bit of snow gets something moving.🤪

It was probably 3-4' deep? That hen turkey sounds like me and my wife.

Don't care how big the deer is I'm not going to die from hypothermia for it
It does get cold but if you know how to dress, it is not a big deal.
