- It is rare for us to have the ice go out on us in the middle of winter while beaver trapping. It makes it a lot like fall trapping and today is the first time ever we had these conditions and we take advantage of it and hammer them!
Not many beaver ponds are up hill! Though I have found s few yhat have a downhill packout.As rare as the true blonde beaver

So when are you going to do a catch and cook... It's Lent... The beaver was approved by the Catholic Church to be a Friday meat during Lent... That was like around 250 years ago and I'm not Catholic... But they are tasty critters

It's not like you guys don't work hard enough trapping now you have to fight the floating sod and not enough ice!! Trapping is a bitch in these conditions!! You guys are true outdoors men. All your years of experience you know the ice out happens much faster than ice up!! Should definitely be in the $.CHRISTMAS. THOUGHT THIS WAS SPRINGTIME. 2023 LATE ICE UP.
No we had ice and it all melted and then refroze again.

Do you set triggers up or down on the 330's? Had one trapper tell me he thought less rat catches with triggers on the bottom facing up- maybe just a preference. Glad to see you guys out enjoying the good weather and sport, thanks for sharing the experience

Time mostly. We just focus on one kind at a time, also there are not many rats where we beaver trap. We will be doing some spring rat trapping this year just for fun....soon.

Glad the camera was safe and no one went for a swim.
Let Ken know that he can extend the life on his basket with mineral oil or butcher block oil. Apply with a spray bottle. Let the oil soak in and then wipe off the excess. Don't throw the oily rags in a corner.

After watching you two struggle with nature this week I may just stick with trapping chipmunks! A whole lot easier to pack out but sure takes a bunch to make some mittens!🤠
