You two gents are a pleasure to watch and you really enjoy what your doing good luck to you both and please keep the videos coming. Top guys who are experts in there field. Well done.
First is this fellow your brother? This channel is great like the other wood chucking channel! I never knew that Wisconsin was so beautiful and lot of game! Finally those Beavers are the biggest I seen in years! Lmao!😂👍🏻Awesome!!! Thank you for taking us along,Chris?
Something tells me the next Lodge meeting at Happy Hour is going to be very short on members with all those Primo bank sets!! I would have to go back and look but I think the tank you caught before was around 55lbs also. Big Ole, Beavers!😮 Already looking forward to the next adventure with the Carlson Brothers!👍👍
Need to watch 330 maniac. Beaver trapper in Minnesota. He is very successful. The way he sets most of his traps makes setting 330's very fast and easy.
Yup, I have seen his videos, good stuff. We catch hundreds of beaver every year over 1000 in the last 2 years alone ...for decades now. We set hundreds of traps a day when we are going wide open in the spring. He catches dozens.
It is ...work with 100% chance of pain , discomfort , blood, sweat, exhaustion, highs, lows, tears, laughter, excitement, anticipation, disappointment, joy and FUN ....the best.
I was walking in a trout stream and tripped, fell into the bank and thought it hurt a lot for only falling about 2 feet. Then I tried to get up and couldn't. I fell in a ¾" willow that a beaver ate off. It stuck through my side... Through and through my love handle. Bled like a SOB but it was just the skin for the most part. For what it's worth it healed just fine. I think what hurt me is what helped me because it was chewed clean... No bark. Barely even scared. And no I didn't catch any trout that trip.
No, we are not really contest kinda guys no B&C or Pope & Young... we just know we did okay had fun and shared the time with others... and that is enough.
Good question...for beaver we almost always use the trigger on the bottom. Beaver are close to the bottom swimmers and push along with their feet....also it allows for an wide open view with nothing to block their path.
I got a 64 3/4 lbs beaver 2 wks ago in 330 then another 52 lbs one from same hut next day. Then nothing for a week so was going to pull my traps but found one tripped so thought well maybe reset and see. So like your sets deep water soft bottom decided to do baited. Stepped wrong way on run and went through the ice (#%@*). Thankfully no waders on or they would have filled with water and been a bitch to get out. Water was at least 9' but had my axe and was able to get it stuck in solid ice and used it to pull myself out. Wasn't in the water more than 3 or 4 minutes. Thank goodness my coveralls were water resistant so they didn't soak through right away. But my boots filled up.
Tkx but scared the hell out of me. I'm just thankful that I was able too keep my head and not panic. This has been a strange winter for ice that's for sure. I'm not that far from you guys, I'm in MN just south of Duluth.
I'll never get tired of watching you two trap. Never a dull moment. Like two big kids. Great video guys.
No. We ARE two kids!! thanks!!

Brothers getting the job done
Thanks, yup, we like to get it done!
You guys should use a swivel stick on the sideways sets.when the springs are stacked put an angle stick between the jaws opposite the stake.
Maybe. We are just learning this beaver thing. We only catch 400-500 a year.
We do that sometimes if it's needed

Wow! That sounds like something i want to avoid!!
That Beaver is as big as so of the deer I seen shot in the woods this year lol .
Yup, it was a toad!
No beaver trapping thru ice this year in Michigan. Will have to hit houses with a canoe after the very thin ice is gone
Yup, spring trapping is great fun!
Nice catch, guys.. over the last year, I have heard you guys mention tail size. What is that about??
Big tail= big beaver!!!
So have you entered that tail in the 8th annual Tman contest ? Enjoy the Sat coffee over these threads, keep them coming
No, we are not really contest kinda guys no B&C or Pope & Young... we just know we did okay had fun and shared the time with others... and that is enough.
good enough, hope you meet next year at the Wisc trappers convention@@outofthewoodyard
Hi Ken @ Chris Thank You nice big Beaver 65 lb Pound maybe lol ( Ron
Thanks!!!
New guy question- how do you know to set the trap with the triggers on top or bottom? What makes you go either way? Thanks!
Good question...for beaver we almost always use the trigger on the bottom. Beaver are close to the bottom swimmers and push along with their feet....also it allows for an wide open view with nothing to block their path.
@ thanks for the response, I appreciate that.
Big beaver! My biggest was this last Thanksgiving, 65lb. wonder how old they are when they get above 50?
I was told that the big ones are usually at least 5-6 and can live to 12 years!!
Beaver stretched out 77 inches
@@kennethcarlson8713 trophy beve!
Great video. What brand/ model are your waders? Thanks
Cabelas dry plus $250 ish ....NOT NEOPRENE...
@@outofthewoodyard thank you

May i ask what waders brand you use to get in the water
Cabelas...dry plus.
Does he go north towards mellen? We've spent thousands of dollars on repairing the rd to our cabin, because of beavers.
Yes we do sometimes! email me at chrisinthewoodyard@gmail.com and we can give you a call to see if we can work something out.
This might be a dumb question but I don't know. How long can a beaver hold it's breath under water?
Great question...about 15 minutes.
One guy smarter than the other
Hips boats are called FALSE HOPE..
Maybe so, to me they just limit you a lot.
What brand setters do you use
Not sure they are old but you can get them from F&T trap supply about $35???
What trapping basket is that?
I couldn't tell you it's almost 30 years old
Yup, an old one.
I was thinking it was an older version of the 22” beaver special that I see for sale on cook creeks website. Looks like a really nice one!
Did you name her Winona?
Nope, my good friend Les has one by that name though!! Haaaa! Mr. Claypool is awesome! my favorite is JERRY WAS A RACE CAR DRIVER!
Can you guys trap the wolf's up there where your at
Touchy topic......no. But we are supposed to have a breading population of 300-600max...reality 2,000-3,000 =no deer in the north.
Good Morning Woodhounds!! 2 pot show today!! Conservation at work guys!!
Morning! Thanks Greg!
