    You guys should use a swivel stick on the sideways sets.when the springs are stacked put an angle stick between the jaws opposite the stake.

    Need to watch 330 maniac. Beaver trapper in Minnesota. He is very successful. The way he sets most of his traps makes setting 330's very fast and easy.

    • @outofthewoodyard
      @outofthewoodyard  11 месяцев назад

      Yup, I have seen his videos, good stuff. We catch hundreds of beaver every year over 1000 in the last 2 years alone ...for decades now. We set hundreds of traps a day when we are going wide open in the spring. He catches dozens.

    I was walking in a trout stream and tripped, fell into the bank and thought it hurt a lot for only falling about 2 feet. Then I tried to get up and couldn't. I fell in a ¾" willow that a beaver ate off. It stuck through my side... Through and through my love handle. Bled like a SOB but it was just the skin for the most part.
    For what it's worth it healed just fine. I think what hurt me is what helped me because it was chewed clean... No bark. Barely even scared.
    And no I didn't catch any trout that trip.

    New guy question- how do you know to set the trap with the triggers on top or bottom? What makes you go either way? Thanks!

    • @outofthewoodyard
      @outofthewoodyard  4 дня назад +1

      Good question...for beaver we almost always use the trigger on the bottom. Beaver are close to the bottom swimmers and push along with their feet....also it allows for an wide open view with nothing to block their path.

  • @georgepotter5101
    @georgepotter5101 11 месяцев назад +1

    I got a 64 3/4 lbs beaver 2 wks ago in 330 then another 52 lbs one from same hut next day. Then nothing for a week so was going to pull my traps but found one tripped so thought well maybe reset and see. So like your sets deep water soft bottom decided to do baited. Stepped wrong way on run and went through the ice (#%@*).
    Thankfully no waders on or they would have filled with water and been a bitch to get out. Water was at least 9' but had my axe and was able to get it stuck in solid ice and used it to pull myself out. Wasn't in the water more than 3 or 4 minutes. Thank goodness my coveralls were water resistant so they didn't soak through right away. But my boots filled up.
