The speed of your Internet connection largely depends on external factors you cannot control. However, sometimes there are software elements that influence your connection speed. Once such factor is Windows reserving 20% of your network bandwidth for special QoS (Quality of Service), essentially capping you at using 80% of your total available bandwidth. The 20% reserved bandwidth is for QoS traffic. This traffic includes stuff like streaming videos, Windows Update, VoIP, etc. - anything that makes use of the QoS Packet Scheduler. Windows has this reserved bandwidth to ensure a smooth experience with QoS traffic because this type of traffic typically needs a high amount of reliable bandwidth. If you go ahead and disable this reserved bandwidth, you may experience issues with QoS tasks. Secondly, 20% of your bandwidth is reserved only when QoS tasks are running. Internet connection speed has so many determining factors people seem to overlook all the time. People forget that it also depends on the site's internet connection that you are wanting to get to. Just because say your speed is listed as say 5mbs the site server's ISP may only be 1mbs thus your speed with that site will be placed the same as theirs regardless what your ISP spedd is. Speed also is reflected by the amount of traffic (people using same ISP and or going to the same site). These speed hacks are a complete joke. This isn't rocket science people. The only real time connection speed is a factor on your end is wireless. It will be determined by how close you are to a signal and how many are using that same signal. Think of a tree the taller it gets the thinner it becomes making it weaker at the top than base of the trunk.
WIN 7 - What helped me immensely lately was: - Disabling Core Parking (processor) - Disabling Speedstep and Enhanced States on BIOS (processor) - Disable Windows Search and Superfetch services permanently - Disable Disk Writing Cache (no speed difference and prevents data loss) - Disable all unused devices on device manager - Disable all audio enhancements on advanced audio options - Enable "Vsync always on" at Video card options - Use Chromium browser with Java, Flash and cookies disabled by default (you will have to setup your frequently used sites on first visit, memory usage and processor usage is much lower since done that) My computer was crashing every 18 hours and now it goes for 7 days until I decide to reboot to reset memory use and even browsing the internet much faster

By default window reserve 20% bandwidth for windows update. Normally you will always have 100% bandwidth but only when windows update is running only then 20% will be used by window. Its better not to change. I did it in the past and noticed that some time my internet is slow. as I forgot that I have changed the setting so I was annoyed why my internet is working slow. It was after 2 I suddenly remember that I did change the bandwidth. In my opinion its better to leave 20% for window. Updating wont be going all the time.

By default window reserve 20% bandwidth for windows update. Normally you will always have 100% bandwidth but only when windows update is running only then 20% will be used by window. Its better not to change. I did it in the past and noticed that some time my internet is slow. as I forgot that I have changed the setting so I was annoyed why my internet is working slow. It was after 2 I suddenly remember that I did change the bandwidth. In my opinion its better to leave 20% for window. Updating wont be going all the time.
