And thank you so much again too, Peter! It was indeed a great Birthday. Sorry I missed your call but so glad you are feeling a little better. Speak soon my good friend. 🙏😎👍
Oh Derek! Wasn't sure if this would be your cup of tea! Glad you like it though. Did you see my Ford Bronco body? I painted the wheel arches like you advised! Cheers mate! 🍻😎👍
Always loved the look of this and other F1 cars, but finding a flat place to run is the issue and with no kerbs. I did not realize it had a hard body very nice and in to parts so easy to paint. The FRP will take a long time to glue and sand and I think the tape for the tyres will be tricky. The biggest thing that puts me off ball diffs 😞I have a bit of hate for them.
Me too I’ve not had a sand scorcher one work properly for longer than five minutes before it’s come too loose to drive the car even with red Loctite and super glue on the adjusting nuts ..I think Tamiya are stopping making them now .I asked MIP if they might make them but better but nope they won’t touch them ..
Hi Craig, I haven't got a Sand Scorcher and I was surprised to hear it has a ball diff! The ball diffs in my TA02 are great, never had a problem but others like the ones in the DF03 are terrible! But at least I know Tamiya can make a ball diff that lasts! 😅👍
Hi Mal, yes finding a smooth place to run this is going to limit its use for sure. I know, I got my work cut out with the FRP and the 6 tyres! As I said to Craig, Tamiya can make a ball diff that works well, let's hope this one does! 🙏 🤞😅👍
@@MarkBryanRC it doesn’t out of the box mark you have to buy them and to be honest for the high price they cost they are complete garbage .the other weak spot I find is the drive joints they’re ok on loose dirt etc but on high traction surfaces using Hornet rear tyres as the stock paddles are useless on grass they break I think I’ve gone through 8 or 9 this year it’s got expensive to run .I’ve broke one every time I’ve used it on grass .that’s only on the stock motor and nimh or 2s. Too much traction like on grass breaks the pins that hold them together .
@@craigpimlott204 Ah I see Craig, didn't expect a ball diff as standard. Sounds like you have loads of issues with that bug, Think I'll steer clear after hearing that!!! :D
Too right ✅ Kim, you know me, I love ❤ a good kit build 👌 It should look awesome when it is finished! Thanks mate, hope you guys are having a smashing weekend too! 🤞😎👊👍
should be an interesting kit to build . yeah it’s a ball diff - very simple but clever way of providing a space saving diff for the rears 👍 i think you will enjoy
Hiya mate. Oh yes that is such a great and unusual kit and an unusual car from F1 history. I remember another one that I had a Scalextric car of that had 4 wheels at the back. Anyway should be a good build and different to what you have done before. The challenge will then be to find a flat enough bit of tarmac to drive it on. Hoorah for young Peter for getting you such a smashing gift. Hope Friday is treating you well. I've got a lovely beer on the go so all good here. Cheers for now 😁🍻🍻🍻
Hiya Pete! Oh yes I remember the one with 4 rear tyres in an attempt to reduce drag from those huge rears they used to run. Yeah I know I'll enjoy building this one and I've already go a spot lined up at the local park, very smooth new tarmac and no kerbs! Thanks mate and I hope your weekend is a cracker - cheers! 🍻😎👍
It is a really cool kit! You do have to drive it at least once. If you can find an empty tennis court, that is the perfect surface for these to run on!! Avoid any place with pebbles all over, they can really toss it around! Have fun with the build Mark! Hi also to Rob Onthecamera and the wonderful Peter Smith!!!
Oh yeah this is definitely a cool 😎 kit! I will drive it for sure! Thanks for the advice 🙏 Addam, I'll be sure to avoid pebbles! Hi from Mark and Robonthecamera!!! Peter Smith really is a fantastic chap! 🤩👌👍
