Nice the Manta Ray, I brought a Tamiya buggy kit today in a sale 🙂A vintage motor cool, nice alloy motor mount. Those alloy gears why do they not used the brass material would be much better no grey mush.
Thanks Mal - I hope we see your new buggy soon! Ah yes I did worry about those alloy gears as I know they wear out fast. But I don't think my car will get that much use! Cheers! 😎👍
Did this build the other week with my new manta ray! The manta ray was my first rc car back in 1990 and it's my first rc car again after all these years!! 👍 Enjoying you content, and will look forward to more manta ray!
Very cool! Such a great kit to start the hobby and to build all over again years later! Glad you enjoyed the video, there will definitely be more to come about this buggy! Cheers! 🍻😎👍
Many thanks my mate Cat! 😺 Yeah this really is a dream to put together! Can't wait to give it a blast on the dirt. Have a great weekend my friend! 😁🍻👊😺👍

Had to drop a "first." It's my first time. That sounds kinda weird... Lol. Great build up, Mark. The Manta Ray is such an underrated kit, it's good to see it getting some love. Hopefully we'll get a Mark and Rob bash session and we can see that Manta Ray soar! :)
Well you sure beat Paul! 😂Your first time coming first!!! Get in there! Cheers brother, oh yeah I'm really enjoying the build of this one, all going smoothly! Definitely underrated. You will definitely see a Manta Ray / Top Force session! Cheers Fil! 🍻😁👍
I know Kim, it took so long to film and edit this one that I was losing the will! But it's worth it when folks like you take the time to watch these videos! Thanks my good friend! 🙏💙😁👍
Perfect timing Mark!! Just placed an order for mine today and there is nothing better than building along with the master 🙌🏻 I am so excited for this build buddy and I can’t wait to see yours running about
Great to hear you have one on the way, Craig! I know you will love this one! Thanks for the kind words, brother. Same here, I'm so looking forward to running this beauty, we should get a "twin run" in when yours is finished! 😁👊👍
Oh, yes, I enjoyed this, Mark! I enjoyed every time you said nip up the screws, grease the mating surfaces, and the best was that motor, smooth as a nut! Good to see you got started on this nice kit, I love seeing these parts come together. And of course a good choice to upgrade the motor mount! As always, I am already looking forward to next part!
Hiya Mads, good job you enjoyed the "nip ups" and "grease application" soundbytes, there were a lot of them in this one! 😂 Ooh that old motor should go well in this buggy, fingers crossed! Thanks for catching this one my friend, hope your week is going well! 🤞😎👍
Great guide to help folks out with their build! The Manta Ray is my new favorite track buggy but it did have some electrical gremlins in it today, once those are sorted then it will be back as a little track ripper!
Thank you Addam, oh yes I can tell you like the Manta Ray by the way you were screaming it around your track with those awesome power slides! Can't wait to try to copy you! Hope the gremlins are gone my friend and that your weekend is going well! 🤞😎👍
What better way to unwind after a manic Monday than with the therapeutic ambience of a Mark Bryan build video!👌 Very good timing dude, everyone seems to have bought one of these recently, hardly surprising as its such a superb chassis at such a low price point! These things drive superbly,.my childhood rc mate porker had one of the originals back in the day! Funnily enough,I've just been passed over that very car,and will be rebuilding it over the dark winter nights.....i now have a reference guide from the master himself!😂 That vintage brushed motor looks sweet, and should definitely give it some much needed nippy nipster! These old rebuildable brushed motors are superb, all these years down the line and they are still going strong! Clean the com with an eraser, oil the bearings, dust down the magnets and can, check the brushes and brush spring tension and your good to go!! How many modern brushless motors will still be running 25+ years down the road?! 😉 Looking forward to the next installment buddy.😊 👍 👍
Hi mate and apologies for the late reply, I'm struggling here at the minute! But great to hear that you enjoyed the video all the same! I'm surprised at how popular they have been as I though the looks were a marmite thing! Luckily more folk have got good taste for classic Tamiyas! Yeah I know how good they handle and can't wait to get it running, but as I said a lot going on... That old Fireball motor was smooth and fast back a few years and I hope it gets a new lease of life in the DF01! Definitely a pleasure to strip one down and fettle it back to good condition, I'm getting quite good at it now. I find a good rub with 800 grit wet and dry does a great job on the com! What a nice way to finish the Friday. Great build, Mark, very nice looking motor 😮 Maybe there's room for 1-2 upgrades : whole plastic spur gear as alu + alu is not ideal and the main propeller shaft from Top Force Evo. But it's not as mandatory as the motor mount and, obviously, the metal bearings 😁👍🤝
Hi Gabriel and thanks for tuning in, glad you enjoyed it. Yeah had that motor for years and have had a bit of practice rebuilding brushed motors lately (just like you have!) Should run well. Yeah I thought about the alloy spur gear but too late - I can upgrade later. Same with the prop shaft. Thanks for the tips my friend! 😁👊👍
I watched your super clod buster build guide before I built mine. Good stuff. Not sure how I feel on the looks on the manta ray, but interesting kit none the less.
Glad you enjoyed the Super Clodbuster videos! Yes this is a very interesting kit and I know the finished buggy is an excellent performer. It is a little odd looking but it sure grows on you! All the best! 😎👍
Another excellent Mark Bryan build video! I did notice that it looks like you've put the D10 parts on the wrong way round, they are the plastic cups on the diff outdrives that the centre driveshaft will sit in. At least they looked the wrong way round from the shots of the manual that I could see. Can't wait for part 2 mate!!
Oh Barry, thanks so much for spotting that! Yes I think you are right and luckily I can just swap them around without dismantling anything! You are a star mate! Others might not have been so kind after spotting that little mistake! Cheers! 🍻🙏😎👍
Awesome build so far my brother.... I do really like this kit, and I do prefer kits with quad shocks over mono anything... Next year, I will have the most awesome kit, to me anyway, we will just have to wait for that, it might not even be around when I go to get it.... ATB to One & All over your way...
