    What better way to unwind after a manic Monday than with the therapeutic ambience of a Mark Bryan build video!👌
    Very good timing dude,everyone seems to have bought one of these recently,hardly surprising as its such a superb chassis at such a low price point!
    These things drive superbly,.my childhood rc mate porker had one of the originals back in the day!
    Funnily enough,I've just been passed over that very car,and will be rebuilding it over the dark winter nights.....i now have a reference guide from the master himself!😂
    That vintage brushed motor looks sweet,and should definitely give it some much needed nippy nipster!
    These old rebuildable brushed motors are superb,all these years down the line and they are still going strong!
    Clean the com with an eraser,oil the bearings,dust down the magnets and can,check the brushes and brush spring tension and your good to go!!
    How many modern brushless motors will still be running 25+ years down the road?! 😉
    Looking forward to the next installment buddy.😊
    👍 👍

      Hi mate and apologies for the late reply, I'm struggling here at the minute!
      But great to hear that you enjoyed the video all the same!
      I'm surprised at how popular they have been as I though the looks were a marmite thing! Luckily more folk have got good taste for classic Tamiyas!
      Yeah I know how good they handle and can't wait to get it running, but as I said a lot going on...
      That old Fireball motor was smooth and fast back a few years and I hope it gets a new lease of life in the DF01! Definitely a pleasure to strip one down and fettle it back to good condition, I'm getting quite good at it now. I find a good rub with 800 grit wet and dry does a great job on the com! You are right mate, modern brushed silver can and brushless motors will end up in the bin! All the best James! 😎🙏👊👍

      Sorry to hear that you're struggling mate, hope all is OK with your health issue etc.
      It must be very hard keeping up with the amount of comments that you receive, but great to see such decent view figures.
      It's nice that you reply to everyone.... I feel a lot of the big channels don't even bother reading them, let alone reply to them!
      Yes, this is definitely a marmite body design..... I'm not the biggest fan of this body, or the Top force to be honest, but they have grown on me in time.
      But the chassis is superb!!
      Look forward to seeing it up and running with that cool vintage motor!

    What a nice way to finish the Friday. Great build, Mark, very nice looking motor 😮 Maybe there's room for 1-2 upgrades : whole plastic spur gear as alu + alu is not ideal and the main propeller shaft from Top Force Evo. But it's not as mandatory as the motor mount and, obviously, the metal bearings 😁👍🤝

    i was literally waiting for this video, 'cause my manta ray is alao waiting to get build (i've also will use bearings instead of the bushings, a aluminium propshaft, 'cause i don't trust that "steel wire", a aluminium motor mount, a aluminium differential case door for the front differential and a complete set of gears (tamiya 50529) 'cause that spur-gear out of one piece is a bit better than the 2-piece variant out of aluminium and plastic). the only thing i wanted to know - and i see it really good - were "which screws" you use... especially the M3x10, 'cause i also wanted not to use the self-tapping screws.
    funfact - as the first one was out, i had the chance to buy it... but i bued either a road-car, and now i'm regretting it (that was several years ago). i saw a few of your videos - and they're really good made and understandable (even if i would wished, there were a bit more on the details, like - the c hubs, "what" the difference is between them, 'cause it isn't that obvious)... and now, i'm trying to make my manta ray in the next time "running" - when i got some screws (they don't had half-round with the inner 6-edge shape, only cross - and i don't want cross-head screws).

    • @MarkBryanRC
      @MarkBryanRC  Месяц назад +1

      Hi and good to know you like the video! I agree with your choices of upgrades for this kit. As for the stainless hex head M3x10 screws, here is a link to the ones I use:
      www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254546123386?_skw=m3+hex+head
      I hope you can find some similar to this where you live.
      As for the level of detail in my videos, it really is difficult to balance the length of a video and the amount of information it contains. Many people find that too much info makes a video too long and it is not watched. But thank you for telling me your preference, I will bear that in mind. Enjoy your Manta Ray build! 😎👍

    • @crashoverride6413

      @@MarkBryanRC well, actually i've using ('cause these were the only ones i've found asap in the hardware store - 100 pcs. for a cheap price) M3x10 with a "cylindric head", 'cause i found these in alloy steel with in-hex heads. they also seem to fit in the most holes, and i've also trying to cut m3-threads in the plastic before just plugging in these screws. they work, so it might be not a problem at the moment - and if needed, i can also switch them later.

    • @MarkBryanRC
      @MarkBryanRC  Месяц назад +1

      @@crashoverride6413 Great to hear you have found some suitable M3x10's! If you put a little grease on the threads before screwing them in you might find they cut their own threads easier and no need for tapping a thread! It works for me! Happy building!

    Uncle Bob sent me to your channel for tips on building a Manta Ray as I'm having trouble,I haven't built a kit for over 20 years and that was a Super Grasshopper 2, probably the easiest kit to make.
    ESC and brushless motors are like voodoo to me and all the different batteries and radio gear give me a headache just thinking about them.😂
    To the point, I've been told I need to upgrade the diff to a ball one and a metal motor mount and drive shaft is a must. I've also been told to buy top force Evo shock towers and top deck.is all that overkill?
    The only thing I've brought extra is metal ball bearings only because I used to back when I was a child.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    • @MarkBryanRC
      @MarkBryanRC  22 дня назад +1

      Hi and sorry for the late reply - this comment was in my "spam" for some unknown reason!?!?!?!
      Anyway thanks for the message and to Uncle Bob! Great to hear you are back in the hobby. I know it can seem like a minefield sometimes but you will get there! All I can do is speak from my own experience - I don't agree that you need a ball diff or the Evo shock towers and top decks, the DF01 chassis is good as it is in stock form. The only think I would say is essential is the ball bearings (that you wisely got) and the metal motor mount. An alloy prop shaft is a "nice to have" but not essential, especially if you are not going for a crazy powerful motor! All the best with your build, please drop me a message if you need any more help. Cheers!
