Why did Mace Windu wield a purple light saber ? Lore: Mace Windu was able to channel both from the dark and the light side, giving his light saber the shade of blue and red. Reality: Samuel l. Jackson: Hey George, I want a purple light saber. George:Why? Samuel: Looks cool. George: You got it.
I was just about to write that. Cool analysis, but he kinda overdid it. Not everything has a reason. Palpatine killed those 3 jedis in few seconds just because it was easier to film it. Not because he was that good.
@@danijel4504 You must've not seen Palpatine's old ass beat the living shit out of Darth Maul and Maul's tank of a brother at the same time. Not to mention his fight with Yoda.
Well that may be true but even the lore is not even true anymore. Thanks to Disney the 7 fighting styles are not canon anymore. Although you can explain most of the lightsaber fights with them you can ditch every power analysis based on fighting forms. The creator of this video should have written "legends" or "expanded universe" in the title.
@@t-god2439they are nice but the prequel fight scenes are much better. Christopher Lee as count had so much finesse so sad he got only so limited screen time
6372828 don’t know man those clone wars Gigi were great and we’re much more visually pleasing especially fights like Sidius and maul, ventress Ana savage vs count doku we’re so good
As great as The Clone Wars tv show was, I'm pissed we didn't get to see one Windu vs Dooku fight. It could have been awesome! It's such a shame it didn't happen.
Somehow, I don't think that Dooku's "insult your opponent" strategy would actually work against Mace, due to Mace's phenomenal control over his own emotions.
Same thing whit vaapad here, Dooku didnt let the dark side litetally explode from his veins like sith always do, merely experimenting with it, so not much to turn against him.
@RCP Pilot is that really enough against someone with the exact same thing, AND 3 decades more experience on top of that? Remember the Count was a jedi, he knows them from the inside out in a way no jedi can ever get to know a sith by simply observing from the outside...
Vapaad wouldnt work as well against Dooku. Unlike other Sith, he maintained control of his emotions and his dark nature. Which is why you rarely see him with sith eyes. Thats something I feel is often overlooked by many.
Mace doesnt channel emotions back to the opponents he channels their dark force/energy through him and reflecting it back to them. No sith lord is immune to Mace. Mace would lose to yoda and jedi version of count dooku because his form is at its most effective vs the dark side. I feel that no one is more effective against a sith more than Mace, I even include yoda who failed vs Palpatine. I haven't seen a better jedi vs a sith than Mace Windu.
Mace was the true chosen one. Even Sidious could not intimidate him. Remember, Sam Jackson snarling at Palpatine during their duel. Mace, not Anakin would have been the perfect apprentice.
@@filippomonaco2303 while that is true mace still had a ton of momentum which is what dooku lost to. Additionally he had shatterpoint which showed him all weaknesses of his opponent.
GilxSullinger Not really. Mace Windu is undoubtedly the most overrated Star Wars character. It's ridiculous how people just assume that he legitimately defeated Darth Sidious, without taking all of the facts into consideration, and that he was in the same league as Yoda and Sidious.
Conor Stack lol what you mean lucas already said mace windu defeated sidious fair and sqn. Yoda was more defensive in his lightsaber combat . Yoda force ability is insanely good . Arguably one of the best but what he really stands out his force control. Mace windu is more agressive at lightsaber combat . His force push and crush was insanely powerful even better at that area compared to yoda. He crash general grevious even without getting close. Diff opponent has diff weaknesses. But the point is lucas stated mace windu did defeat sidious fair and sqn so whats ur point ?
GilxSullinger Mace Windu was only able to contend with Darth Sidious, under specific circumstances. Use of Form VII: Vaapad greatly depended on the inner-darkness of the practitioner to allow the darkness of the opponent to pass through them, fountaining back, upon them. Mace Windu: "I created Vaapad to answer my weakness. It channels my own darkness into a weapon of the light"-Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith novelization. After being informed, by Anakin Slywalker that Chancellor Palpatine was Darth Sidious and that all that the Jedi had fought for, during the Clone Wars was for the Dark lord of the Sith, it filled Mace Windu with such darkness, augmenting his use of Vaapad, so that he was able to duel with Darth Sidious, on even footing. In any other circumstance, he would not have been able to duel with him, as an equal. Anakin's revelation that Palpatine and Darth Sidious are the same hollows Mace to the core-Star Wars: The Complete Visual Dictionary. Anakin Skywalker has nine words for him that shred his heart, burn its pieces and feed him its smoking ashes: "Palpatine is Sidious. The Chancellor is the Sith lord"-Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith novelization. Sinking into Vaapad, Mace Windu fought for his life. More than his life. Each whirl of blade and whipcrack of lightning was a strike in defense of democracy, of justice and peace, of the rights for ordinary beings to live their own lives in their own ways. He was fighting for the Republic that he loved-Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith novelization. In none of Mace Windu's other duels have his abilities been elevated to the same extent that they were, during his duel with Darth Sidious, in which he was described to be fading in and out of existence, along with his opponent. Mace Windu was forced to utilize all of his skills to defeat Asajj Ventress. Mace Windu had to use all of his skills to defeat the Dark Side fighter, Asajj Ventress-The Official Star Wars Fact File. Mace Windu was greatly challenged, by Asajj Ventress, despite the fact that he wasn't holding back against her. Meanwhile, Anakin Skywalker, whose vision was too slow to follow the speed of duel, between Darth Sidious and Mace Windu succeeded in overpowering Asajj Ventress, during their many confrontations, during the Clone Wars. Yoda was a far more powerful Force-user than Mace Windu and a more skilled lightsaber duelist, yet Darth Sidious fought with him, as a perfect equal and even managed to overpower him, during their duel, in the Senate-chamber. Saesee Tiin, who was speedblitzed, by Darth Sidious also fought Mace Windu, as an equal, in spars. Count Dooku actually has more impressive feats against General Grievous than Mace Windu. Count Dooku consistently outduelled General Grievous, during their sparring sessions, together. ruclips.net/video/Xy_Po12VyZw/видео.html. That incident, during the Clone Wars micro-series wasn't really fair for General Grievous. General Grievous wasn't Force-sensitive and had no Force-barrier to penetrate. Grievous relied on his speed and erratic fighting style to compensate for his lack of Force-sensitivity, in combat. His opponents were forced to rely on their Force-augmentation to survive his chaotic strikes, rather than their offensive attacks, with the Force, and he and Mace Windu were somewhat thirty feet apart. It would have been easy to Force-crush him. Meanwhile, General Grievous fought Mace Windu to a stalemate, in Labyrinth of Evil. While Mace Windu did manage to end the duel, by Force-pushing Grievous off of the train, on which they were standing, he was only able to do so, by exploiting Grievous' lack of mobility, due to the fact that he was latching onto the moving train, with his talons, while Mace was able to maintain his balance, using Force- augmentation, allowing him to gain distance from Grievous and overpower him, with the Force. He was unable to defeat him, in lightsaber combat, unlike Dooku.
Conor Stack im aware of his vaapad ability and shatterpoint abilities but ur source where does it come from? Disney took over and many things were diff now. I havent been catch up with whats canon and non canon now since im in the army . But i still stand up to what ive said. Diff opponent has diff weaknesses. Anakin beat dooku , dooku beat obi wan. Obi wan beat anakin. Mace windu beat sidious didnt finish him , yoda didnt beat dooku and sidious.
Dooku was one of my favourites. I’d love to see a show of him growing up and separating from the Jedi Order, though many wouldn’t find that interesting.
Rock paper scissors is in small part a game of circumstance tho. Ive always found that to be a poor analogy because in rock paper scissors everything has a counter, just like the different lightsaber forms.
@@hellothere6728 the maul fight yeah ok, I'll give u that. The Anakin fight wasn't prime Anakin his prime would of years later. He was just becoming great.
This is a tough one especially considering that Dooku wasn’t necessarily absorbed in the darkside. I believe he could stay calm enough to counter the effects of Vapaad, but shatterpoint is another issue altogether.
huh, my favorite jedi versus my favorite sith... good, no bias here! the likely fact that Dooku wouldn't have fought against Windu with hatred to begin with would have resulted in an interesting situation. this way Dooku's Makashi could have well been a match to Windu's Vaapad, thus their mastery of the Force and physical stamina would have been the decisive factor in their clash... if Dooku could come up with something useful fast, it could allow him a victory, but a prolonged duel would see Windu emerging victorious. it is an important factor here that Dooku was more familiar with how Windu fought than with how Anakin fought, as both Obi-wan and Anakin managed to catch him off-guard in their final clash by switching forms, then Anaking fighting differently right after he managed to eject Obi-Wan out of combat. Dooku lost because he was put through quite unfamiliar situations in short succession (not to mention that he trusted in Palpatine's awkward-sounding plan, the fake plan in which he was the pawn, not Obi-Wan - it was only in the novel, of course)
I think Dooku the jedi would have a good chance against Mace, but Dooku the sith would get killed easily by Mace's vaapad technique. Dooku was more powerful with the force than Mace even without using the dark side, and he was said to be one of only two jedi who could best Mace Windu in sparing sessions, the other being Yoda. If Mace can't feed off Dooku's dark energy, there might be a fair chance that Dooku's supreme mastery of form 2 (along with his powerful light side force wielding capabilities,) could best Mace Windu's form 7 vaapad. I wouldn't draw apples to oranges comparisons in regards to Dooku not being able to generate enough forward momentum against Anakin's form 5, Anakin at that time was transforming into a powerhouse unlike anything the galaxy had ever seen. If lord "High Ground" hadn't chopped his legs off, and left to burn to death in a volcano, Anakin Skywalker would have been the greatest ever. But Dooku could never beat Mace if he tried overpowering him with dark force, Windu would just use his own force against him and eventually kill him. I don't think Mace Windu could have been beaten by any sith... ever.
ededed There wasn't really anything to suggest that Form VII: Vaapad drew strength from actual dark-energy, as the several sources, which define it describe it to draw from the inner-darkness ( not the Dark Side of the Force ) of oneself, as well as the opponent. Mace Windu: "I created Vaapad to answer my weakness. It channels my own darkness into a weapon of the light"-Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith novelization. This indicates that Vaapad drew from dark emotions and not dark-energy. In none of Mace Windu's other duels have his abilities been elevated to the same extent that they were, during his duel with Darth Sidious, in which he was described to be fading in and out of existence, along with his opponent. Only when Mace Windu's use of Vaapad was amplified to a great extent, due to his inner-darkness and personal betrayal, at the time was he able to continually draw strength from Darth Sidious' fury and allow it to fountain back, upon him, manifesting a superconducting loop of darkness. Sora Bulq was incapable of achieving the same superconducting loop of darkness against Darth Tyranus and so was Mace Windu, during their brief duel, in Star Wars: Obsession, in which neither gained any definitive advantage. Mace Windu was barely able to use Vaapad to dispatch Asajj Ventress, despite the fact that he wasn't holding back against her and was also unable to achieve the superconducting loop against General Grievous. Plus, Mace Windu was actually defeated, in combat by Kar Vastor, another practitioner, of the Dark Side of the Force, who fought with aggression and ferocity, on his home planet of Haruun Kal.
Mace Windu’s vaapad mastery was able to turn Sidious’s own force lighting against him. I don’t care if Mace feeds off dark energy or dark emotions, there plenty of both to work with when fighting against a sith. Furthermore, Mace defeated Kar Vastor with Force mastery, and Kar’s huge power advantage was coming directly from his home planet. Kar was also Mace’s tribe bother, so clearly the talent runs deep in that gene pool.
ededed While Darth Sidious was firing Force-lightning at Mace Windu, both seemed to be struggling, however only one was being genuine. The novelization of the movie makes it clear that Mace Windu was being overpowered, by Darth Sidious' Force-lightning. This was beyond Vaapad. He had no strength left to fight against his own blade-Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith novelization. Even Mace Windu's amplified abilities were not enough to overcome Darth Sidious' Force-lightning. Meanwhile, George Lucas confirmed that Darth Sidious only ceased his attack, because he was feigning weakness, in the director's commentary of the movie. He was never in any real danger and could have killed Mace Windu, at any point, during that scene of the movie. Use of Form VII: Vaapad greatly depended on the inner-darkness of the practitioner to allow the darkness of the opponent to pass through them, fountaining back, upon them. Channeling the darkness of the opponent had its limits. Even though he managed to defeat him, in another instance, Mace Windu was defeated, by Kar Vastor, despite employing Vaapad against him and later conceded that he could never defeat him, in combat. Mace Windu's use of Form VII: Vaapad was ineffective against Count Dooku, during their sparring sessions, together, despite the fact that his personality and inner-darkness were most likely no different than by the time of the Clone Wars. Mace Windu's primary use of Vaapad would seem to be ineffective against Darth Tyranus, who was a passive, intelligent combatant, who had a far greater control, over his emotions, in combat than most other Sith. Darth Tyranus' immense skill, with Form II: Makashi was geared toward finding openings, in the defenses of reckless, aggressive opponents, such as practitioners, of Form VII of lightsaber combat, like Mace Windu. It was the lightsaber form best suited for actual duelling and was the most energy efficient, of the seven forms of lightsaber combat, greatly compensating for Tyranus' advanced age. Vaapad was actually quite taxing on one's endurance and stamina, so it's doubtful that Mace could maintain the move-set for very long.
First off, Lucas never confirmed that Sidious threw the fight to Mace, that is nothing but baseless speculation. This is what Lucas actually said: "Okay, well, this sequence always started out with Mace overpowering Palpatine, and then Palpatine using his powers to try to destroy Mace, and Mace deflecting his rays with his lightsaber. And it always was that Anakin cut the lightsaber out of his hand. But this part where he pretends to lose his power and be weak was something that I added later, 'cause this is, it moved the point where Anakin turns down to this moment right here, and you can see now, that it's very clear that he's, he, he wants him to go on trial so he can pump him for information about how to get these powers." This quote tells us only one thing, Palpatine didn't start "acting" until AFTER he was disarmed, and there is no mention what so ever that Sidious could have killed Mace when ever he wanted, you literally just made that up... lol In the ACTUAL movie, Mace most certainly was NOT overpowered by Sidious' force lighting, and I'll take the REAL cannon over the "novelization" any day of the week. Palpatine literally cooked himself alive trying to fight off Mace with force lighting. And again, Mace did defeat Kar Vastor in combat using the force... and Mace only fell unconscious in their first fight because he was suffering from blood fever. And it's also important to point out that Kar Vastor dark force was different from a that of a sith... As Windu stated: "I don't see Vastor as evil. Not as a truly bad man. Yes, he radiates darkness-but so do all the Korunnai. And the Balawai. His is the darkness of the Jungle, not the darkness of the Sith. He does not fight for power, to cause pain and dominate all he surveys. He simply lives. Fiercely. Naturally. Stripped of all restraints of civilization." It's also fair to point out that Dooku may very well have fallen to a warrior like Kar Vastor if he tried to fight him in his own Jungle. Now I've already acknowledged that Dooku has a fair chance at besting Mace with a light saber, but it most certainly is not a guarantee. Dooku had some success against Mace in sparing sessions, but that's not the same thing as a real fight. Form 7 Vaapad when used to it's fullest capabilities is purely lethal. Mace would never try and kill Dooku in their training sessions, so technically Dooku has never seen Mace's true Vaapad. This holds especially true if Dooku begins trying to use dark force against Mace in combat. Lastly, it is important to point out that Mace Windu is a true master of ALL 7 forms. While Dooku's Form-2 Makashi will dominate a typical Form-7 Juyo practitioner, it doesn't really mean anything to a fighter of Windu's caliber, who can seamlessly transition between forms 3, 4, 5, 7-Vaapad, as needed. This is why I wouldn't count on Windu tiring out in a duel, he's good to go 15 rounds and we all know it. I'll stand by my initial assessment; if Dooku fights with the light side of the force, and locks in with his form 2, he's got a 50/50 chance to beat Mace, the more dark force he tries to use, the more the fight swings in Mace's advantage.
ededed Master Windu, himself remained perfectly balanced and centered. In the history of the Jedi Order, only two opponents ever overcame him, in battle. One was Master Yoda, who some said was the Order's true master of lightsaber combat. The other was former Master Dooku, whose own fighting style was archaic, yet stunningly effective-Star Wars: Power of the Jedi Sourcebook. The quote refers to Mace Windu being a Jedi master, at that point. Mace Windu had been a member of the Jedi High Council for merely ten years, by The Phantom Menace, having also become a Jedi master. By the time of The Phantom Menace, his apprentice, Depa Billaba had also become a member of the Jedi High Council and mastered Form VII: Vaapad, having been taught, by Mace, directly, so we know that Mace Windu developed Vaapad, alongside Sora Bulq, with enough time for him to teach it to Depa. Mace must have already become a Jedi master and a member of the Jedi High Council, by the time that he began his training of Depa, so we can assume that he had already mastered Vaapad, at that point. Count Dooku was also familar with Vaapad, when Sora Bulq, its co-creator utilized it against him. Plus, Depa had only just joined the Jedi High Council, by the time of The Phantom Menace, having already mastered Vaapad, so based on their reputation as lightsaber duelists and comparability in skill, with the form, Mace Windu should have mastered Vaapad, by the time of his ascension to the Council. Therefore, Mace Windu should have already mastered Vaapad, during his spars with Dooku and that being the case, Mace Windu's use of Vaapad was ineffective against Dooku, during their sparring sessions, together, despite the fact that his personality and inner-darkness were most likely no different than by the time of the Clone Wars. Vaapad was also ineffective against Dooku, when Sora Bulq utilized it against him. There was nothing to suggest that Mace Windu grew, in power, by any great margin, after that point, while it's obvious that he was defeated, while Dooku was still a Jedi and had not yet received his extensive knowledge, of the Dark Side of the Force. While it could be argued that Mace wasn't going all out against Dooku, due to their duels merely being spars, neither was Dooku against him. Utlizing Form VII: Vaapad did require proficiency with the other forms of lightsaber combat, but Mace Windu didn't master all seven forms. Even so, there was plenty to indicate that Count Dooku had remarkable skill, with them, as evident, during his sparring sessions, with General Grievous. In terms of the Force, Dooku is clearly superior and Darth Tyranus' speed is also equal, if not superior to Mace Windu's. George Lucas stated that Mace Windu won the lightsaber duel against Darth Sidious, which is perfectly obvious from watching the movie, but he didn't say how he managed to do so. Darth Sidious was playing possum, but not until Mace disarmed him. Mace disarmed Sidious, but Sidious wasn't defenseless, without his lightsaber. A canon source confirms that Mace Windu was unable to effectively deflect Darth Sidious' Force-lightning and George Lucas doesn't contradict that, in any way.
I'm going to have to side with Dooku on this one. There's a lot you missed out on for Dooku here . . . He was a Master Duelist and a noted expert in all forms of lightsaber combat for this very title, he simply preferred Makashi due to it being outdated by that time, meaning not many Jedi knew it or how to fight against Form II. I like Mace and he is an exceptional and powerful Jedi, however, he would not be able to use Dooku's dark side energy against him when Dooku could simply stop relying on the dark side. He never gained Sith eyes, meaning he never fell to the Dark, only controlled it and used it. And he was still a noted practitioner of light based force abilities even when Darth Tyranus. His age doesn't factor into this either, as he's in his 80s and still held his own against two accomplished, far younger, Jedi (Obi wan and Anakin) and Yoda (though limitedly) with ease. And nor should the limitations of Makashi apply as Dooku is noted in the movies and the Clone Wars cartoon as being able to fight multiple opponents while using Makashi still to fend them off relatively easily, i.e. when he fought Asajj Ventress and two Nightsister assassins all at once even when blinded. Dooku was a Sith not for power but apart of it as a Political Faction as he didn't need power and didn't want to ever be in power.
Yoda was wrecking him so badly that dooku had to start retreating only seconds into the battle so saying he held his own is an over statement not to mention yoda was far from his prime.
@@eddy_is_a_squidpotatoe471 Which is why I said in parentheses that it was limitedly. Realistically though, due to the movie, it's not as drawn out as their fight was. Loathe I am to say it, because I don't like the characterization the novels made of Dooku, the Attack of the Clones novel goes more in depth to their fight. Regardless, for a man with only 70+ years as a Jedi and a few as a Sith, the Count held his own in that battle against the great Grandmaster Yoda, who was over 900 years old at the time, it's said that even with this limited stand against Yoda that Dooku impressed Sidious/Palpatine. Most other Jedi or Sith would have been done in within moments against Yoda but Dooku still lasted longer than most would have.
Et Gemitus Mortis every force user uses the force or the dark side to enhance themselves physically so Vaapad would still work on Dooku possibly even more than on the average sith due to how much Dooku had to enhance himself using the force I don’t see dooku having nearly enough endurance to win a prolonged fight with Mace and I also don’t see him winning it early as Mace would have him on the defence from the start I think Mace would win
Your opinion makes alot of sense honestly, however if we are going to talk about how Count held his own against Yoda then we have to point out how Mace out classed Sidous in their lightsaber duel... I dont think Count could beat Sidous at all.
@@auglybluething1995 Valid point. However, Vaapad ONLY draws off the Dark Side to turn against said Dark Side User, so again, Dooku would only have to stop relying and drawing off the Dark Side for Mace to not gain strength in their fight by redirecting these energies. And while Dooku is considerably old, 83 by the time of his death I believe, not all of his feats can be attributed to enhancing himself with the Force alone. Remarkably trained to that age not only mentally but physically would make him stronger, faster, and more powerful than an average human, even if he took a few years off between being a Jedi and a Sith Lord. Though the timeline is kind of wonky, so hard to say exactly when he joined Sidious frankly.
I admired very much his style during his first duel with obee 1 where he showed us supreme control over fight. But near him stands Windu which is a very brutal fighter so Dooku dies.
I don't think the Jedi have a fixed number of members for the council, if they think your voice will help make important decisions and feel you need more authority because your talents warrant others heeding you, then your on the council,
All-things-Nerd wait whaaattt I didn't know she wasn't on the council, she is a master though right ? So luminara a master but not in the council and anakin a council member but not a master xD
Count Dooku. He had much more experience in combat, and is able to use the force as well as force lightning. Not to mention that his form two was specifically made to fight lightsabers. Plus he was trained by both Yoda and Palpatine. Also Dooku could taunt Windu into believing that he was weak compared to Anakin and was jealous of him for having more power, and that Yoda was ashamed of him because of his inability to trust others or admit his mistakes.
What makes you think Dooku could taunt Windu? Dooku's taunts would be effective against somebody like Anakin, who already had problems controlling his emotions. They they would probably be effective against Obi Wan, who likely felt vulnerable against Dooki after having already lost to him on multiple occasions. However we already saw Dooku attempt to taunt Yoda, and what good did that do? Yoda just ignored him completely and focused on the task at hand. Mace Windu was arguably even stronger then Yoda in terms of self control, since it is said that he was the only Jedi who had the strength of will and clarity of mind to be able to master Vappad without succumbing to the dark side. It's almost guaranteed that any attempts to taunt Mace Windu would have been fruitless for Dooku. His force lighting would also have done nothing, since Mace was able to use the power of Vapaad to reflect Palpatine's force lighting back on to him - and Palpatine's force lighting was even stronger then Dooku's. So the only way Dooku really could have beaten Windu is through pure lightsaber skills and telekinesis. Yet Dooku's lightsaber form is known to be weak against more aggressive forms (and Vappad is one of the most aggressive there is), and Windu's ability to use shatterpoint to identify and utilise Dooku's greatest weaknesses would most likely trump Dooku's ability with telekenesis. It's a tough call as both were extremely powerful in the force in their own ways, and both were also legendary swordsman, but in the end I believe Mace Windu's mastery of shatterpoint would have won the fight for him. He never would have utilised that ability in friendly sparring duels against Dooku, and no other Jedi at the time had that ability, so Dooku would have had no idea how to contend with it. It's that combination of Vapaad and Shatterpoint that made Windu so powerful. If he couldn't overpower you with Vapaad for whatever reason (e.g. General Grievious - he didnt use the force, so Windu couldn't use his force powers against him) then he would crush you with Shatterpoint (again, just as he did with Grievous). Yoda, Dooku and Palpatine were all incredibly strong force users, but as far as I'm aware neither one of them had any force powers that were especially unique - Palpatine used thee same force powers every other Sith used, he was just stronger at them. Same with Dooku. Same with Yoda - same force powers every other Jedi had, just stronger. Doku and Palpatine had seen force push a million times before, they could counter it fine. Yoda and Mace had seen force lightning a million times before, they could counter it just as easily. But Windu was a tough out because Shatterpoint was unique power that only he had mastery of, and unless you had faced him in combat at some point in the past, you'd never see it coming or know how to react to it.
Pete While Darth Sidious was firing Force-lightning at Mace Windu, both seemed to be struggling however only one was being genuine. The novelization of the movie makes it clear that Mace Windu was being overpowered by Darth Sidious' Force-lightning. This was beyond Vaapad. He had no strength left to fight against his own blade-Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith novelization. On the other hand, George Lucas confirmed that Darth Sidious only ceased his lightning attack, because he was playing possum in the director's commentary of the movie, similarly to how he attempted to make himself seem defenseless to Luke Skywalker in Return of the Jedi which is perfectly obvious anyway. George Lucas: "OK, well this sequence always started out with Mace overpowering Palpatine, and then Palpatine using his powers to try to destroy Mace and Mace deflecting his rays with his lightsaber, and it was always that Anakin cut the lightsaber out of his hand, but this part where he pretends to lose his power and be weak was something that I added later"-Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith director's commentary. Mace would have been thrown out of the window much sooner had Sidious not ceased his attack to see Anakin Skywalker's reaction. Count Dooku consistently outduelled an opponent as fast and aggressive as General Grievous. ruclips.net/video/Xy_Po12VyZw/видео.html. He was even capable of holding his own against Yoda's speed for a period of time which is no small feat. Mace Windu has rarely made use of Shatterpoint to great effect in combat with the exception of his duel with Darth Sidious which is irrelevant as he had a very circumstantial and involuntary speed/power amp at the time that he hasn't had in any other scenario and wouldn't have against Count Dooku. Even so, Mace Windu's use of Shatterpoint would be matched by Dooku's use of Precognition which was quite impressive as shown when he fought against Asajj Ventress, while drugged and while Ventress was being assisted by several other Nightsisters.
Animated Nickname WTF? SIDIOUS killed Windu. Anakin Just cut off his hand, Sidious shocked him and threw him off the skyscraper. I do buy into the theory that Mace didn't die. Mace is more powerful then Maul. If Maul survives being cut in half, why couldn't Mace survive?
Troll Face 1 Palpatine would of died if Anakin didn't step in 2 Mace had normal human skin maul had more protective skin than Windu and Mace could of landed on something sharp or fall head first
Hussain Al-moussawi at the start of the Fight dooku was holding Back cuz of sidious order. but at the end when anakin was using the dark side, he was stronger then doku.
Ok so in the novel of Revenge of the Sith, all Anakin saw was flashes of purple and red, that’s how fast and aggressive they were, I kinda thought in Attack of the Clones they experimented with it when Anakin and Dooku in the final stages in their fight, when it got all dark.
It depends on who is fighting the faster the fighter the more they can keep up with Anakin couldn't see mace fighting sidious properly because they were leagues above Anakin in speed
Bro we get it. Everyone knows this shit and I'm tired of everyone commenting it. There is a lore explanation now and you're in a star wars video about lore. Gtfo
Didn’t sidious ask dooku to go easy on anakin and not to kill him during the match that he “got killed in”??? ????anakin also lost to Obi-wan who lost to dooku while fighting them both while dooku was going easy on obiwan out of affection for him as he looked at him in a way of somewhat family because gin
Palpatine didn't actually tell Dooku to go easy on Anakin. George Lucas: "Palpatine has told Dooku, 'I have somebody who I think will be a great Sith Lord and I think we can get him to join us. But we need to test him. So we're going to set up a situation where you fight him. If he gets the best of you, then I'll stop the fight and he'll have passed the test. If you get the best of him, then we'll let him go, and we'll let him stew for a few more years until he's ready.' But behind it, obviously, is Palpatine's real intention: If Anakin is good enough, Anakin can kill Dooku and become Palpatine's new apprentice. But he didn't tell Dooku that." -Star Wars: The Making of Revenge of the Sith. Palpatine wanted to see if Anakin was good enough to defeat Dooku. He was instructed not to kill him, but you don't have to kill someone to defeat someone. I think Count Dooku would win against mace when he was younger and more powerful, the sheer age gap between the two during the prequels would set Dooku at a big disadvantage
Mace would have him on the ropes from the start. Though the duel would be absolutely beautiful because it would truly bring out the best in Dooku; just as we saw with the battle with Anakin, once Mace ramps up the ferocity pulling from original form seven (coupled with Shatterpoint and Vapaad) Dooku would fall and the duel would end in spectacular fashion.
If we take there Legends versions into account Mace was never able to best Dooku in saber combat while the latter was still a Jedi even during TPM Dynasty and only surpassed Dookus Jedi self with a blade years after TPM but Dooku as a Sith also got better then his Jedi self in Saber combat. In terms of force powers, raw power, potential, knowledge, education, mastery, and powers at his disposal Dooku even as a Jedi Master around TPM Mellenia was second to only Yoda with telekinesis, tutiminus, force healing, force reflexes, force shields, force barriers, beast control, force agility, force senses, telepathy, mind control, force self levitation, and battle meditation. And as a sith he became even more powerful and skilled quickly within five years learning powers of force lightning, force drain, que tech, don moch, doppleganger, teleportation, force cage, force stealth, and so on and improved on the great highly advanced abilities with the force he already had as a Jedi. Only advantages Mace had over Dooku when both were Jedi and after Dooku left and Mace stayed were shatterpoint, force speed, force strength, force durability, and lightsaber throwing yeah.
I am convinced that Dooku let Anakin win thinking that he would be spared and Sideous saying “Dew it” was unexpected. If Mace is alive, he’s probably gone insane and is straight up Dark Side now which would explain why the inquisitors and Vader never found him
Dooku has already beaten vaapad users as well. Count Dooku described the power of Vaapad as skirting the dark side of the Force, but stated during a duel with Sora Bulq that the form was bridled and weak without direct use of the dark side” I don’t think maces vaapad would have the same effect on dooku as it did palpatine. Mace would have to rely on his shatterpoint only pretty much. Dooku was not a heavy user of the dark side like Sidious and Vader or even maul was
@@sdaftermath123Exactly and in Legends it is heavily implied that Dooku has a higher force potential then Mace does be it slightly or moderately even a source saying that the main reason Yoda took Dooku as his own student one on one was because he sensed Dookus strength in the force was enigmatic even for himself to figure for Yoda to come out of being a retiree for that main reason most likely says that Dooku has potential close to Yoda or equal but doubtful being higher though cause only Anakin had a higher one then Yoda the reason why Yoda did not train Anakin in a similar way he trained Dooku was because Anakin arrived at a later age then normal for jedi training while Dooku, Mace, Plo Koon, And Yaddle all arrived at the correct age yet out of those four only Dooku had a high enough potential to cause some fear into Yoda to come out of retirement to directly trained it was confirmed in another source saying how Dooku was a unique case in the jedi order universally respected would of been a Jedi Master equal to Yoda had he stayed in the order and not joined its greatest foes while I do not remember saying Mace had that kind of potential nor Plo Koon Nor Yaddle or any other Jedi yeah.
@@matthewmann8969 dookus telekinesis abilities were insane, on par with yodas, possibly on par with sidious’s too. Legends plo koon was OP though, he could create force storms, could freeze bonds and rivers, and even used force lightning. Only Jedi to best yoda in a duel too, in legends
I imagine this fight to begin similar to the Utapau duel between Obi_wan and Grievous: A very agressive Windu would throw cascades of lightning-fast attacks that Dooku would all deflect with supreme precision making up for the slower movement. Of coruse Mace, beeing a master of all forms, not just the seventh, could fight tactically and change styles, but in that game the advantage in experience and tactical mastery goes to the Count. I don't believe the anti-darkside properties of Vapaad could flourish against Dooku, a sith that explicitly did not use rage to fight nor did he give in to strong emotions when using the force. I do think that Mace had what it takes to win this fight, but that he my lose it just as well.
In terms of Lightsabre styles, what you've argued makes perfect sense from an in lore perspective...it's kind of funny though, as applying real world mechanics makes Makashi the best style by far. In the lore, it struggles against "powerful" styles, but the real world styles that Makashi is ultimately based on are kind of the opposite...they tend to dominate the real world styles that the other lightsabre forms take nods from. If we look at Longsword vs Rapier, for example, Rapiers tend to outmanoeuvre and outreach Longswords. Makashi is also meant to be weak against blaster fire, but if we again apply real world mechanics it would really be the best, by far.
This is a tough one for me. my gut feeling is Mace Windu. I believe even Yoda would struggle against him. I think he is better with the light saber than Darth Sideous - who gave Yoda a run for his money. I believe he might be unmatched with the light saber. only Dooku would stand a chance. When it comes to the force- power, skill, and knowledge Yoda is got no equal and never will.
I believe this battle can go one of two ways. if this battle were to be short, mace Windu would attack first and make quick work of the count, bringing the count to his end a bit earlier than expected... But.. if the count anticipates his move and blocks, the battle would continue for a while longer. I even thought of a little passage for this event... A small little background: this would take place if Mace got on the ship to chase Dooku. Count Dooku would stand idle, waiting for the great Master Windu. As Windu stormed into the room with his blank expression, just as any Jedi master would, Dooku would turn. "Master Windu. Quite the surprise to see you instead of Kenobi.." Dooku would say in a mocking manner. Windu would quickly ignite his lightsaber and take to the air in hopes of finishing the Count nice and easy, but it wasn't so. Dooku ignited his blood-red lightsaber, blocking the blow. "Windu... When did you get so sloppy?" The count would say, in the hopes of getting to Windu. Windu's expression remained vacant. "You shouldn't have left the order, Dooku." Windu would say while their lightsabers remained pressed against each other. "You were better whilst a teenager then how you are now." Dooku would smirk, and add to his insult, "Surely you could do better." Dooku used his force lightning to shock Windu for a window of time to get situated. The battle would rage on, Dooku seemingly having the upper hand on Windu. The two masters get into another saber-lock. "Truly, you have a reason to leave" Windu would say, with unnoticeable disappointment. "The Jedi have grown weak, but you can see that, no?" Dooku let out a small chuckle as he spoke. As they interchanged words, Dooku would slowly move Windu's saber out of the way. "You stand on the thinnest line of the light and dark. It's almost as if you can't decide.. Will you join me, and together, we can live in the highest of esteems." Dooku would attempt to convince Windu into joining the dark side. "I will never bow to the darkness, count." Windu would metaphorically spit in Dooku's face. "Then I'm afraid it has come to an end, my fellow master," Dooku said, as he quickly maneuvered his lightsaber to cut off Windu's hands, a move not even Windu could predict. As Windu's hands fell to the floor, Windu would kneel in agony, as his lightsaber shut off and hit the floor. "Goodbye, Master Windu," Dooku said as he cleaved into Windu's skull, splitting it in two. Dooku would approach his ship and had it take off. Yoda would walk into the room, with Windu's body lying motionless, realizing that he wasn't fast enough to save Windu. Yoda would hold his own chest and say " Taken him, the dark side has. Count Dooku... Power, he has attained..."
Dooku did beat mace windu in sparring duels when dooku was a jedi. And also plapatine is pure dark side so mace could easly feed from his dark side powers thats why he won. And dooku does not use dark side much and since he knew that mace feeds from dark side he would win withot using it.
To be fair it sounded more like "he's one of the only ones who ever beats mace" We don't know if it was like, 1/10 times Dooku won, or if he could reliably beat Mace in sparring sessions. Also, in non-lethal sparring, more aggressive forms tend to be nerfed innately.
Mitchell Horton Yes there were only few people that could win mace but those people actually could win in an actual duel against him. Yoda and dooku could win mace (there were few others.) And also yoda said that dooku was the better jedi not mace so it was a huge loss when dooku left the jedi order.
LongLiveZuko I don't think many of these comments will be written here. rather his combat skills. remember, this channel has some really smart subscribers
LongLiveZuko mace did beat palps this is stated by george lucas himself. that does not make him the most powerful jedi ever when you consider the fact that there are alot of powerful force abilities lost by the jedi order whuch is why we see yoda using powers no other jedi does. thoose powers were in use when yoda was young but not anymore so mace is powerful but not the mist powerful.
Dushon Foster ...Mace was more powerful than he would've normally been due to special circumstances and multiple sources make it clear that Sidious could've been faking it.
1. What if Tyranus, Maul and Vader teamed up and trained together? 2. What if Ahsoka Tano & Asajj Ventress became friends and teammates? 3. What if Luke and Leia were trained by Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Anakin, Windu and Yoda? 4. What if Anakin was trained by Qui-Gon Jinn & Obi-Wan Kenobi -- and maybe even Mace Windu & Yoda? 5. What if Savage Opress was trained by Asajj Ventress, and became her lover; then trained by Tyranus and then by Maul?
I believe Dooku would win against Master Windu. Mostly because of his experience in dueling. Even though the form he uses doesn't benefit him in a fight against a Vaapad user like Mace, he does have more knowledge about the force and how to use it in combat.
Mace windu got interesting forceattacks too ,that you can see in star wars the clone wars the old series of it... In force , mace wasn't weak. In duel , he would lose because mace is a better duelist.
@@stefankick7000 True but Dooku was better at defensive force powers like force shield and force barriers even as a Youngling that is how he won force tournaments at the age of nine that even Yoda himself did not go easy on him not saying Dooku beat Yoda but he proved a challenge where Yoda put some effort into beating unlike the other challengers of Yoda and as we know Dookus powers grew when he got older as did Yodas and Dookus use of telekinesis is superior when it comes to lifting, throwing, tossing, dragging, pulling, and gripping things and his tutiminus is so strong that he could deflect force lightning of high magnitude like Yoda could although not as skillfully yeah.
That isn't what you believe *waves hand* the Count got his ass handed to him by a witch, a witch who's ass i kicked like a bitch. - Mace Windu True story bro
Windu was just a Jedi Master. Dooku was also a Jedi Master, but he also was a Sith Lord. To me, that means Dooku has more education. And when that education comes from the absolute two best in the world - Yoda and Palpatine - unbelievably powerful beings of unique schools of thought, skill, and training. It is difficult to argue that someone with less education would have more potential. Like, imagine if you will being trained by both Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson. Wouldn't being trained by BOTH be more potent than being trained by just of them? Dooku >>>>>> Windu.
NySakeeZ Xx No, he wouldn't. Count Dooku has already defeated Mace Windu, before in Jedi sparring sessions, while Mace Windu was a Jedi master. Master Windu, himself remained perfectly balanced and centered.
@@CulturalMarxist4985 and yet Palpatine who mastered all 7 variants of lightsaber dueling was bested by Mace who after his fight with Mace would go on to duel Yoda to a forced stalemate. So you're telling me that Count Dooku whose dark force power pales in comparison to Sidious' would be able to beat a seasoned & Shatter Point inducing Mace in a one on one duel? Nah son...
@@CulturalMarxist4985 Yoda's beating Mace isn't surprising and neither is former Jedi Master Dooku, but Dooku as Darth Tyranus is getting abused by Mace's shatter point.
Jay Ferguson hmm, a old man with little to no strength vs a 20's man in his prime with a midiclorion count of 20,000 higher than grand master yoda. Yea it matters
I think Dooku's got him. It's stated that Windu could beat all in sparring duels except Dooku and Yoda. Yoda has said that Dooku was the finest the order had in EVERY way and what a loss it was to lose him. Dooku is able to stalemate Yoda when Anakin and Obi-wan tried to fight him the first time. Meanwhile, Windu admits that Yoda is his superior in wisdom and in war. Saying that because Anakin was able to overcome Dooku in their final battle and therefore Windu would be able to because of his aggressive style, is forgetting the fact that THIS Anakin is much more experienced and much more powerful than when they fought the last time. This is clearly shown by Palpatine when he says in the movie, "Soon I will have a new apprentice, far younger and more powerful!" Not to mention he was at first fighting both Anakin and Obi-wan again, at the same time in the beginning of the fight as well. Also in the book, Dooku was told to hold back by Palpatine and not kill Anakin if it came down to it(again Palpatine saw that Anakin would be a better apprentice even if Dooku could beat him in a duel at this point) Dooku also says that Anakin's style of Djem So was the finest he had ever seen in this fight( therefore even rivaling Windu's which he's seen at the academy many times before this) Mace was able to best Sidious, in lightsaber combat only because of his Vapaad form which draws on darkside energies of his opponent and Sidious was a darkside nexus at this point and therefore ironically made Windu able to hold his own against Sidious at least until he was disarmed. Once he was disarmed tho, Sidious was able to make Windu struggle even trying to deflect his lightning. It is stated in the book that Sidious was feigning the struggle against Windu at this point while Windu was genuine in his. I believe the movie shows this also clearly when Sidious complains to Anakin that he's too weak and needs his help only to easily pour on the lightning after Anakin chops off Windu's hand. I mean he goes from complaining about not being able to hold out for much longer and then right after Anakin betrays Windu, he pours on the lightning saying his famous line, "Unlimited Power!!!" In the novel, with regards to Windu it states as he's trying to deflect the lightning, " This was beyond Vaapad; he had no strength left to fight against his own blade." It is at this point that Palpatine stops in order to feign weakness so that Anakin sees Windu as a threat and to push Anakin to make a decision. Now Palpatine only uses his lightsaber to mock the Jedi when he fights, and only starts using his more formidable darkside abilities when he gets serious. So Windu "beating" Palpatine in that fight? No. Disarmed him, yes(whether that was a plan of Palps or not is irrelevant in the big picture) Windu is no match against Palp's lightning as is canon according to George Lucas and was unable to hold it back any longer. Fun fact in the book, Yoda also manages to disarm Sidious by the blade, but we all know what happened with the outcome of that fight ;) This is why I think Dooku would have won against Windu because he was considered by the order(including Yoda a better duelist than Mace) and Dooku was all about calmness in his fencing style, not a whirlwind of anger or hate, and certainly not a darkside nexus like Palpatine was. Therefore Windu wouldn't be able to draw upon vapaad like he was when he fought Palp, and Dooku's force abilities outclass Windu's still. Also even Windu's apprentice fought Dooku using vapaad, but he easily bested her and it posed no problem to him. Dooku easily bests Grievous when they fight, but Windu had a rougher time dealing with him when they fought as well. To add to all of this when Dooku first fought Yoda and was able to hold his own with him, he not only got Sidious' respect, but the Sith Lord started to think that he may have underestimated him and had a slight fear that Dooku may come to overtake him one day if he wasn't careful. He stated that Dooku was more sophisticated, more calculating, and if anything more deadly than Maul. Sidious also believed that Yoda was the greatest duelist that the order had at the time, possibly of all time, yet Dooku was able to match him in this regard.
Mace would beat Dooku because of vapaad just as he beat palpatine, Mace never beat Dooku in sparring because he was a jedi at the time so couldn't use vapaad and his own dark side power against him, Ironic mace would.beat parkside but not light side Dooku
Flawed assertion when you consider dooku doesn't generate that much dark side energy that mace can turn against him He's more about off balance and control. Also he's beaten mace before I believe granted that was a while ago
Idk about that. If Dooku is better with form 2 than Mace is with form 7 it would be a long and cool fight. But if Mace is just a better duelist than I think it would end quickly
kent the puffle Well Doku intentionally lost to anakin so that example is out. We know he quickly beat anakin and obi won with ease and was able to hold off Yoda. I defintly don't think it would be one sided. All of maces signature moves are not going to work.
I think Dooku takes it. I get most of my points from this video:" ruclips.net/video/KjuZQwv60GE/видео.html " but as a quick summary Dooku calm and collective makashi plus his que-tek (prob. spelled wrong ) meditation gives Mace little to use Vapad against (Unlike Palpatine who was a fury of anger and hate), not to mentioned Dooku beat Sora Bulq another Vapd master (who actually helped mace develop it ). People always use the if a > b and b> c then a> c mentality but that is not always true. Ie: Dooku < Anakin < Obi-wan; so Obi should be > Dooku but Dooku bested Obi-wan pretty easily in Ep.3 , not to mention Obi and Anakin's duel was decided more to arrogance than blade skills. Final point relative to above is that I believe Palpatine > Mace; If we divide the duel into 3 parts ( 1-> all 4 Jedi vs Palp; 2->Palp v Mace; 3-> Mace vs Palp's force lighting ) Mace was only winning in part 2 where he sunk into Vapad and disarmed Palps, part 1 is prob a tie, or Palp. winning (I imagine if it was only Windu vs Palp. and the Sith lord get to Mace before he steps into Vapad). But part 3 is all Palp. as seen from the cannon novel ROTS "This was beyond Vaapad; he had no strength left to fight against his own blade." (ROTS novel) what happens after was Palpatine stops the lightning to test Anakin, and after he proves worthy goes back to "Unlimited Power". The only reason I made the Windu vs Palpatine point and A > B > C -> A > C point because people often say that since Mace > Palpatine, and Palpatine > Dooku, so Mace > Dooku, which, in my opinion, is flawed logic. But yeah that it. Ty for reading.
Vaapad style uses the opponent's dark side against him. Count Dooku don't uses the dark side during duels - the result: Count Dooku will defeat Mace Windu. In one of Mace Windu's battles against Grievous: Mace himself noted that he did not like his chances in the battle against Grievous. Because Grievous is not a Sith (of course not), but a machine who hates the Jedi. But in the battle with Palpatine, Mace Windu calmly used Sidious's attacks against him.

Diff opponent has diff weaknesses. But the point is lucas stated mace windu did defeat sidious fair and sqn so whats ur point ?

Mace Windu was only able to contend with Darth Sidious, under specific circumstances.
It would have been easy to
Force-crush him. Meanwhile, General Grievous fought Mace Windu to a stalemate, in Labyrinth of Evil. While Mace Windu did manage to end the duel, by
Force-pushing Grievous off of the train, on which they were standing, he was only able to do so, by exploiting Grievous' lack of mobility, due to the fact that he was latching onto the moving train, with his talons, while Mace was able to maintain his balance, using Force- augmentation, allowing him to gain distance from Grievous and overpower him, with the Force. He was unable to defeat him, in lightsaber combat, unlike Dooku.

Apparently that makashi salute he does to Anakin and Obi-Wan at the beginning of the movie is an actual fencing thing.

Yes, circumstance...or the High Ground.
Yes. Age mostly. We never see prime vs Prime
Rock paper scissors is in small part a game of circumstance tho. Ive always found that to be a poor analogy because in rock paper scissors everything has a counter, just like the different lightsaber forms.

Finally an accurate answer.
I don't think Mace Windu could have been beaten by any sith... ever.
ededed
There wasn't really anything to suggest that Form VII: Vaapad drew strength from actual dark-energy, as the several sources, which define it describe it to draw from the
inner-darkness ( not the Dark Side of the Force ) of oneself, as well as the opponent.
Kar was also Mace’s tribe bother, so clearly the talent runs deep in that gene pool.
ededed
While Darth Sidious was firing
Force-lightning at Mace Windu, both seemed to be struggling, however only one was being genuine. The novelization of the movie makes it clear that Mace Windu was being overpowered, by Darth Sidious' Force-lightning.
This was beyond Vaapad. He had no strength left to fight against his own blade-Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith novelization.
Even Mace Windu's amplified abilities were not enough to overcome Darth Sidious'
Force-lightning.
But this part where he pretends to lose his power and be weak was something that I added later, 'cause this is, it moved the point where Anakin turns down to this moment right here, and you can see now, that it's very clear that he's, he, he wants him to go on trial so he can pump him for information about how to get these powers." This quote tells us only one thing, Palpatine didn't start "acting" until AFTER he was disarmed, and there is no mention what so ever that Sidious could have killed Mace when ever he wanted, you literally just made that up... lol
In the ACTUAL movie, Mace most certainly was NOT overpowered by Sidious' force lighting, and I'll take the REAL cannon over the "novelization" any day of the week.

Master Windu, himself remained perfectly balanced and centered.
Therefore, Mace Windu should have already mastered Vaapad, during his spars with Dooku and that being the case, Mace Windu's use of Vaapad was ineffective against Dooku, during their sparring sessions, together, despite the fact that his personality and
inner-darkness were most likely no different than by the time of the Clone Wars.
A canon source confirms that Mace Windu was unable to effectively deflect Darth Sidious'
Force-lightning and George Lucas doesn't contradict that, in any way.

I think Mace would win in lightsaber combat due to a aggressive and swift fighting style.

Thanotos Omega yes they do. 12 members are constant

@Saim Ali That seems oddly Sithy, since the Jedi don't like creating competitive situations among themselves,
All-things-Nerd wait whaaattt I didn't know she wasn't on the council, she is a master though right ?

No he used a purple lighsaber because Samuel L. Jackson thought it was cool
Now ... there's more than purple. Thank you, Mr. Jackson!
Lmao it’s his fave color, which is why in unbreakable and mr glass he has nothing but purple on
And then an explanation was retconned into cannon. Star Wars is built upon the foundation of retconning when convenient
Didn't he say something about how he wanted his family to be able to see him in the chaos of Episode 2's arena fight? xD

But he didn't tell Dooku that."
-Star Wars: The Making of Revenge of the Sith.
Palpatine wanted to see if Anakin was good enough to defeat Dooku. He was instructed not to kill him, but you don't have to kill someone to defeat someone. Regardless, the novelization of the movie makes it clear that Dooku quickly resolved not to take any risks before Force-pushing Obi-Wan. Anakin then began to overwhelm him.
These clowns might just possibly, actually be able to beat him. No sense taking chances. Even his master would agree with that. Lord Sidious could come up with a new plan more easily than a new apprentice. He gathered the Force once more in a single indrawn breath that summoned power from throughout the Universe; the slightest whipcrack of that power, negligent as a flick of the wrist, sent Kenobi flying backwards into the wall, but Dooku didn't have time to enjoy it. Skywalker was all over him. The shining blue lightsaber whirled and spat, and every overhand chop crashed against Dooku's defense with the unstoppable power of a meteor strike. The Sith lord spent lavishly of his reserve of the Force to meet these attacks without being cut in half and Skywalker...Skywalker was getting stronger.
-Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith novelization.
Dooku even acknowledged that Anakin held the upper hand, because he was simply a natural warrior.
Skywalker leapt from the balcony. Even as the boy hurtled downward, Dooku felt a new twist in the currents of the Force between them and he finally understood. He understood why Skywalker was getting stronger. Why he no longer spoke. How he'd become a machine of battle. He understood why Sidious had been interested in him for so long. Skywalker was a natural. There was a thermonuclear furnace where his heart should be and it was burning through the firewalls of his Jedi training. He held the Force in the clench of a white-hot fist. He was half-Sith already and he didn't even know it. The boy had the gift of fury.

Conor Stack -thank you I now know more
I think Count Dooku would win against mace when he was younger and more powerful, the sheer age gap between the two during the prequels would set Dooku at a big disadvantage
I really would love to see a Dooku-Windu dual in the film! To bad it didn't happen!
2:24 DAT FACE
Dat's the face of someone throwing your own sh*t back at you.
Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the verdict, I think it is definite that this fight would never be a stomp.
Nathaniel Grindstaff They would both kick my ass and then cut me into mince-meat
Shatterpoint perhaps, but in terms of Vapaad I dont think it will have the same effect that you are expecting.
If Mace is alive, he’s probably gone insane and is straight up Dark Side now which would explain why the inquisitors and Vader never found him
I could see Dooku outclassing Windu initially but once Windu gets momentum Dooku would lose his hands faster than from Anakin
Nah Mace does not have the same physical abilities that Anakin does.
Dooku has already beaten vaapad users as well. Count Dooku described the power of Vaapad as skirting the dark side of the Force, but stated during a duel with Sora Bulq that the form was bridled and weak without direct use of the dark side”
I don’t think maces vaapad would have the same effect on dooku as it did palpatine.
I wish we saw douku as a jedi in either clone wars or live action it would be so cool
He lost to anakin because dooku was toying with him

Seeing dooku on the dark side is like seeing your best friend on a different sports team it makes you hate him/her
By far one of my favorite channels, keep up the awesome man!🤘🏼
This is a tough one for me. my gut feeling is Mace Windu.
It is criminal that there was never a mace windu vs count dooku fight

Samuel L Jackson would win
nah... the SAS trained killer would.
Do you know who Christopher lee is
Mace would break through Dooku's form II but in terms of force abilities Dooku would.
Adiict Liinx I agree
Darth Jar Jar The Wise
How would Mace Windu get the edge, as a lightsaber duelist?
His brute force
Plus count dooku would run out of stamina he’s 80 lol mace is 53 and strong
And he was a master of all 7 forms which gave him a great advantage
If Mace Windu can beat Palpatine, he can beat Dooku aswell
Jack Junior if you dont no sidious was scared of dooku for his pure force power and lightsaber skill dooku also learned for 3 dueling
Dooku did beat mace windu in sparring duels when dooku was a jedi. And also plapatine is pure dark side so mace could easly feed from his dark side powers thats why he won. And dooku does not use dark side much and since he knew that mace feeds from dark side he would win withot using it.
Games Rev TV exactly what I think as well.
To be fair it sounded more like "he's one of the only ones who ever beats mace"
We don't know if it was like, 1/10 times Dooku won, or if he could reliably beat Mace in sparring sessions.
Also, in non-lethal sparring, more aggressive forms tend to be nerfed innately.
Mitchell Horton
Yes there were only few people that could win mace but those people actually could win in an actual duel against him. Yoda and dooku could win mace (there were few others.) And also yoda said that dooku was the better jedi not mace so it was a huge loss when dooku left the jedi order.
To make these videos better, I think a question poll in the videos would be good

mitch warren Leia is still alive you know.
She died extremely recently. The actor that is
mitch warren they finished filming episode 8 but they will probably have to change the story of episode 9
mitch warren Well, get a different actor and everything would be okay, or find a way to explain how she died and move on without her.
You guys think they may try to do some cool CGI like they did with grand moff tarkin in rogue one up until they kill her off? That'd be awesome
The way you describe Mace Windu's power, it sounds like he's the ultimate sith killer. Unless Dooku somehow called on the light instead.
Dooku never lost to Ani, but was set up by Palpatine. That's why the look of shock when Palpatine said "kill him..... now!"
I completely agree. Dooku's taunting would have zero affect on Mace and Mace's Vapaad and Shatterpoint are perfect against Dooku's style.
Now just wait for the "WINDU BEAT SIDIOUS HE IS THE MOST POWERFUL JEDI EVER!!1" comments.

M .W. K number 1 is the only good one
M .W. K Number 1 is cool- Sidious would lose his head.

Damn, this video made me realize the thought process of how DICE designed Dooku in Star Wars Battlefront 2. They really did their homework.
Jesse James
Agreed.
windu was capable of the dark side as well and perfectly mastered his form and could defeat dooku with ease
NySakeeZ Xx
No, he wouldn't. Count Dooku has already defeated Mace Windu, before in Jedi sparring sessions, while Mace Windu was a Jedi master.
Master Windu, himself remained perfectly balanced and centered.
Nah son...
@@CulturalMarxist4985 Yoda's beating Mace isn't surprising and neither is former Jedi Master Dooku, but Dooku as Darth Tyranus is getting abused by Mace's shatter point.
another thing to take into account was Dooku's age when he lost to anakin. he was an old man already.
Through the force, that matters little.
Jay Ferguson Indeen, since Palptaine was already 83 years old.
Jay Ferguson hmm, a old man with little to no strength vs a 20's man in his prime with a midiclorion count of 20,000 higher than grand master yoda. Yea it matters
Coleman Blair The argument would be that it was the force that mattered, rather than the age.
Manuel Mendoza that has nothing to do with light saber combat except a couple of pushes etc.
This is clearly shown by Palpatine when he says in the movie, "Soon I will have a new apprentice, far younger and more powerful!"
Not to mention he was at first fighting both Anakin and Obi-wan again, at the same time in the beginning of the fight as well.
Also in the book, Dooku was told to hold back by Palpatine and not kill Anakin if it came down to it(again Palpatine saw that Anakin would be a better apprentice even if Dooku could beat him in a duel at this point)
Dooku also says that Anakin's style of Djem So was the finest he had ever seen in this fight( therefore even rivaling Windu's which he's seen at the academy many times before this)
Mace was able to best Sidious, in lightsaber combat only because of his Vapaad form which draws on darkside energies of his opponent and Sidious was a darkside nexus at this point and therefore ironically made Windu able to hold his own against Sidious at least until he was disarmed.
I mean he goes from complaining about not being able to hold out for much longer and then right after Anakin betrays Windu, he pours on the lightning saying his famous line, "Unlimited Power!!!"
In the novel, with regards to Windu it states as he's trying to deflect the lightning, " This was beyond Vaapad; he had no strength left to fight against his own blade."
It is at this point that Palpatine stops in order to feign weakness so that Anakin sees Windu as a threat and to push Anakin to make a decision.
Now Palpatine only uses his lightsaber to mock the Jedi when he fights, and only starts using his more formidable darkside abilities when he gets serious.
So Windu "beating" Palpatine in that fight? No. Disarmed him, yes(whether that was a plan of Palps or not is irrelevant in the big picture)
Windu is no match against Palp's lightning as is canon according to George Lucas and was unable to hold it back any longer.
Fun fact in the book, Yoda also manages to disarm Sidious by the blade, but we all know what happened with the outcome of that fight ;)
This is why I think Dooku would have won against Windu because he was considered by the order(including Yoda a better duelist than Mace) and Dooku was all about calmness in his fencing style, not a whirlwind of anger or hate, and certainly not a darkside nexus like Palpatine was.
Windu
Considering Windu was comfortable standing around Dooku and Jango, among others, Windu got this.
Mace would beat Dooku because of vapaad just as he beat palpatine,
Mace never beat Dooku in sparring because he was a jedi at the time so couldn't use vapaad and his own dark side power against him,
Ironic mace would.beat parkside but not light side Dooku

but as a quick summary Dooku calm and collective makashi plus his que-tek (prob. spelled wrong ) meditation gives Mace little to use Vapad against (Unlike Palpatine who was a fury of anger and hate), not to mentioned Dooku beat Sora Bulq another Vapd master (who actually helped mace develop it ).

Excellent analysis.
Thank you.
