I don't think anyone will read this, but in case anyone is interested: I am about to graduate with a bachelor's degree in Forest Ecosystem Management. In short, the reason we have timber shortages isn't from the lack of trees, it's from a dip in the economy. For a tree to go from the ground, to logging truck, to a mill, to a treatment plant, to the store, is a long, disjointed process. Only a small portion of companies actually own everything and are able to complete the whole process themselves. Most of the time you have a landowner who sells the timber to a sawmill. That sawmill will hire loggers (sometimes contractors, sometimes they work directly for the mill) to cut the trees down. The TRUCKERS who drive the trees to the mill are often independent contractors, who pick up jobs based on where they are. Once the log gets to the mill, it's cut up into boards. Then, it's sent to a treatment place (where they kiln dry and it and treat it for weather or whatever it needs done). From there, it goes to the stores, where consumers buy it. Because of capitalism, the consumer drives the prices of the product. When the economy is bad, people stop buying lumber to build houses and stuff. But what ends up happening, is the means of production is so far removed from the consumer (because of so many steps), prices often don't shift fast enough for the loggers on the ground. It's weird and complicated, but basically, even if a 2x4 quadruples in price, the logger likely won't actually see that price change in his income - but he feels the rise in gas prices to run his equipment. So, when the market is down, loggers stop cutting. I've heard of people buying over a million dollars worth of timber, and then the market crashes, and they literally didn't cut it for 5 years because they were waiting for it to be worth it - they still lost money. Also, a big cause for timber prices dropping is because China isn't buying as much timber as they were in the early 2000's.

Except Fahrenheit is much better at displaying how temperature feels, 0F is very cold and 100F is very hot, while 0C is fairly cold and 100C is dead, if you want to use a mathematical temperature system, use kelvin
fahrenheit (like most of the SAE) is impractical for science, but so much nicer for everyday use; its human friendly not contrived by the geniuses of the French Revolution (I will remind you those fuckers tried to make TIME metric).
My problem with Farenheit is that the point that is 0°F is standardised based off of the freezing point of a mixture of water, ice and... ammonium chloride? Whereas 0°C is the freezing point of pure water, and 100°C is the boiling point of pure water. That makes more sense
@@theriveracis5172 Well... water is the main component of your body (about 60%) And "cold to a human" is absolutely not a good way to measure something. If you ask different people what is "cold" you will get wildly different results. It even depends on the humidity, wind and many other factors. (Fahrenheit isn't even compatible with Kelvin in any way afaik. Are there ANY calculations that are easier using Fahrenheit?)

7:33 Fold user here. I use the tablet mode for doing art/graphic design/editing on the go and taking notes. It can be difficult to draw on a small rectangle. It's also cool for 3DS and DS emulation. But yea, there's not much use for it for those who don't really need the extra screen space. Also you can't see the crease at all when the screen's on. You can still feel it tho. Also also it's not the peanut we're allergic to it's the protein. Most can eat peanut oil, candies, and cereal. This video's targeting me personally at this point.
1 fun thing about a tablet fold is that you dont need youtube premium to have a video playing while out of the app lol. But yea I do use split screen quite often, like having notes and whatever else i need for work, or things like youtube and chess, or youtube and reddit, or chrome and anything, or excel and discord, or emails and notes or excel.
@@qwoolrat fahrenheit is better, sure 32f being freezing and 212 being boiling is random, but its not hard to remember. For the temperatures that we experience day to day, its much more specific and memorable than celcius
Eventually, probably, because of the hit on biodiversity destabilising the ecosystem until it, possibly, crumbles. But oxygen specifically, if that's the main thing you're implying, comes mostly from the oceans; which is a whole other concern, but cutting down trees will not be as impactful to the planet's oxygen production as many think
My mental health has taken a toll since my coworker bought a foldable phone. The effort he has to go through to show me something is incredible to say the least
@@moderrn6593 celsius is better then fahrenheit because... bro. < 0 is cold. > 0 is hot. Now why tf is 25°F fucking cold? How do you guys know when it's cold outside? Why tf do you need a three digit number to say the temperature of your fucking microwave? There is little to no advantages on using Fahrenheit unless you like the number 100 assigned to your body's temperature.
Ikr. Im actually pretty happy that i have mine. The fold just overall can be used for anything when folded, but when opening it, it just makes gaming, multi-tasking or watching vids a lot more better.
6:50 The reason is simple 100 is close to the temperature of the human body, and its easy to remember that the body souldn't be above 100f than 38c and because of that its way easier to tell if the temperature is hot or cold outside. Because its easier to use farenheight when comparing the heat to the human body. The thing celsius has going for it is that it's useful for water, 0 means freezing 100 is boiling, very simple. This helps discuss the conditions weather outside, as in slippery roads but is more useful to help tell when weather is cold than when it is hot. Problem is humans die before they boil so its not very helpful to use celsius in the shower or a hot tub, or explaining how hot it is on a summer day. As a single celsius is so much more broad and less specific. Kelvin is useful for science, Its the least subjective form of telling the temperature because it measure the movement of the atoms. It has the most reasonable starting point at a level of cold that nothing could ever be colder. They all can be useful in their own situations, but generally Farenheit is best when getting information about the temperature that would apply to you.
@@kikopsan yeah, but there is a true zero when we’re talking about temperature (also I wrote the first comment as a joke, kelvin is obviously not practical in everyday life)
I absolutely love how schlatt genuinely has no arguments for farenheit so he just pretends like he does, doesn't state any of them and lets the celsius people "stay mad". The irony is not lost on us buddy
11:35, me too. How about....we just.... dont use a straw? it's not like we as human beings are incapable of drinking from a glass that does not have a straw
5:25 fun fact: Celsius was based of the idea that 0 degrees was the freezing point of water and 100 degrees was the boiling point of water. 0 degrees Fahrenheit is based of a mixture of salt, ice and water and 100 degrees Fahrenheit is based off the average human body temperature, which is constantly changing depending on the person. In conclusion, Fahrenheit is dumb. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
The reasoning you gave for Fahrenheit's scaling is mostly wrong, Veritasium made a video about it a while ago that I suggest watching. Also, I'm pretty sure almost everyone is already aware that 0 degrees is freezing and 100 degrees is boiling in Celsius (though only approximately, in reality the modern Celsius scale is based on universal constants like everything else in the metric system).
4:39 there’s also the one where squid ward pretends to own a 5 star restaurant, the one where he competes with squilliams statue, and the one where he dances to squilliams song and says “who put you on the planet.”

Fun thing about peanuts, they're not nuts, and they don't grow on trees. They're legumes and they grow under the ground! I know this because I'm actually deathly allergic to tiny little nuts that grow on trees.
As another man with a peanut allergy, I did not seem to enjoy peanut butter so much, so I had a revelation: if I eat it, I die. Therefore, I will never go near another one again. This was my decision and I live with it.
As another person with a peanut allergy, I can confirm that I choose to die whenever I eat a food with a trace of peanut. It was a bad choice thinking about it now.

I as a canadian 100% agree with you but Fahrenheit is better for ovens IMO
as a European, I disagree, I like Freedoms more than Celsius
The reasoning you gave for Fahrenheit's scaling is mostly wrong, Veritasium made a video about it a while ago that I suggest watching. Also, I'm pretty sure almost everyone is already aware that 0 degrees is freezing and 100 degrees is boiling in Celsius (though only approximately, in reality the modern Celsius scale is based on universal constants like everything else in the metric system).
