"My Way" is a song popularized in 1969 by Frank Sinatra set to the music of the French song "Comme d'habitude" composed and written by French songwriters Claude François and Jacques Revaux[1][2] and first performed in 1967 by Claude François. Its English lyrics were written by Paul Anka and are unrelated to the original French song.

Anyway I think the two most important things in a song are the melody and the letter, Paul Anka added to the melody one of the most epic and powerful letter in the history of the music. That's why the original song was a failure, and the Anka's version was so famous. I think he improved it so much that we could say that is a "completely different song"

He wasn’t the composer of the melody. It was originally scored by Claude François, a French musician, whose song “Comme d’habitude” was the first to feature the accompaniment. Paul Anka did write the original English lyrics, which differ from Comme d’habitude’s and created the “My Way” we know today.

I could listen to Paul Anka sing this all day he sings it with so much emotion and feeling. It just sounds so beautiful. God Bless him, he was born with a wonderful talent to be able to have a great voice to sing what he writes. Not many singers were given that talent. His lived a life doing what he loves. I’m listening to this at 4 in the morning. This is the kind of stuff that keeps me up at night.
Anka’s engagement with this song is spot-on. I’m usually a stickler when it comes to singing “on-the-beat” but I’ve got to make an exception. It’s like he’s really pouring his heart out in the lyrics rather than just singing them.
The lyrics may have been for Sinatra, but the feeling was for Anka.
