This show did nothing. Bauhaus was already the quintessential dark wave band. The term goth was invented because Bauhaus already existed and other bands in the 90s were coming out that weren't even faint copies. Wannabes invented goth. Bauhaus invented themselves.
He had a song later in the set where he sang from the top of what looked like a ruined staircase from a castle in a billowing cape with a staff, backlit in the smoke. Sounds a bit corny but it did not come off that way at all, it was majestic AF

As a big Bauhaus fan, and a drummer in school.. The drummer is basically playing rudiments.. But to do it for 9 minutes... Wow .. Precision. My friend and I would argue. He always thought they used a drum machine.. It just takes practice to do it over and over.. But it is brilliant!! I'm dead just as Bella !

About 20 years ago I hung upside down on some yoga ropes for about 30 minutes. When I tried to stand up afterwards my legs gave out from underneath me, probably from lack of blood flow. I thought it was funny at the time, like I'd drunk too much tequila. I still hang for 10-15 minutes at a time. It does something to your nervous system that leaves you feeling very relaxed. No wonder Pete Murphy looks so chill hanging there. This song takes me back to my teen years in the UK, when it was released. Great memories of good times.

This. Him and Dave Vanian always new how to keep the funny in goth. It's why whenever I go dressed out on my goth nights, I look at myself in the mirror and say "I look cool AND ridiculous." It's part of the whole thing. Everyone wants to treat it doomy and gloomy but it's made for the hysterics and theatrics.
That's a generalization. Tons of shitty bands have filled the Coachella lineup every year. And there's always been a standout group of really good artists every year too. Coachella is on the same level of quality as it always has been.

I think I bought this (12" version, as it was way too long for a normal 7" 'single) in 1981, and, in hindsight, this has been my most favourite record I have given away. Great that others have since appreciated and recognised the brilliance of this song (and of this performance).

Incredible! WOW! Brilliant performance on a tune I loved from when I was 9 years old. When I was 18 I was able to get a glow in the dark limited edition press release of this 12 inch I have proudly displayed in my office today. Many decades later

I am a person who was, as I always say now, too much of a close~minded metalhead in the 80s & didn't open my mind to other genres until Marilyn Manson got me more intrigued and interested in Bowie that I began my journey into new wave/goth/etc...& thru that & RUclips...& sometimes I hate saying that bcuz I hate technology lol well its a love/hate thing, but then I realize I actually HAVE heard more Bauhaus & Bowie & Depeche Mode & Duran Duran and Souxie & the FUCKN Banchees!!!??& I think I spelled that wrong but...they've all been in the background of the Playlist of my life but I've NEVER seen THIS particular performance & its freakin amazing and I am actually S0 fuckn glad I got to see/hear this brilliance✨️🦇✨️
