I'd say GPUs and DirectX will need to go through maybe 5 to 6 more generations before they have the power and sophistication to begin closing the gap to what reality looks like through a lens. The main problem is still the subtleties of lighting, reflections and shadows. All fixable but not with the power we have today.
I would say that there will be many more generations. Because it is not just this (lights and graphics) that will provide realism, but rather when they create a complex system. In real life, there is a system of cause and effect. And in the simulator, the effect is programmed and not the consequence. When we have hardware and software capable of processing this precisely, then we will have a true simulator…

Nah, it'll be more AI implementations like DLSS 3 to make games perform better. Current GPUs are more than just a GPU now, they contain tensor chips, which are ASIC chips for AI models to run fast.
Looks like smth wrong with ground scaling when at low altitudes. From above the similarity is very high, but close to the ground distances seem smaller in the sim.
Real life has a better frame rate.
