I just bought a 2015 F-150 Platinum 4x4 yesterday and love everything about it. I owned a Hummer H3 about 3 years ago and had to trade it in for a 2012 Lincoln MKZ for a 120 mile daily commute. No longer needing a commuting vehicle, I was looking for another 4x4 to take offroading, and I also wanted luxury. So I traded in the MKZ for the F-150. After watching your video, I realized this was the best choice to get everything I wanted and more.
Appreciate it! I love sitting in the passenger seat of a car and following it with the drone to get some shots. This time was a little more difficult because it was bumpy as hell, and I was jolting the controls. There is almost no literature about this place online. It's the first time I've been, but the guy I was with knew where it was. It was awful trying to get in. There was one way into the pit, but the dirt had visibly cracked and opened up a 2ft deep little ridge between the tire tracks. Really didn't want to ditch this truck in there. That would've been a fun phone call.
Here is some info nerd: 1. Even though the 2015 F150 is a little low to the ground, it actually has the second best approach angle out of all the full size half ton trucks. 2: You can remove the plastic air dam, and if needed, can put it back on. 3: Leveling kit: www.stage3motorsports.com/2015-F150-Leveling-Kits.html. 4: www.stage3motorsports.com/2015-F150-Suspension-Lift-Kits.html
In order to fend off people from talking to me on the streets of Toronto, I need to look like I'm insane. Shorts in March usually sums that up without having to speak.
Nice video, i liked it. However I want to add that very few 'off road 4x4' vehicles are 'true' off roaders out of the box, even the likes of Land Cruisers, Land Rover Defenders, Hilux etc. You will need basic after marker modifications like better off road tires with larger profiles and smaller rims, off road gas shocks, a steering damper and a lift kit. After that you would also look at after market bumpers which increase entry and departure angles, stronger skid plates and a front diff locker... One can tell by just looking at this F150 that front skirt is too low and those tires and large rims aren't optimal for going seriously of road. It doesn't mean that it is a bad platform however, just that you went too extreme for the stock configuration.
Your dollar is worth more than ours. Essentially, if you have $60,000 USD cash, you can pop up to Canada and buy $90,000 CAD worth of goodies (or whatever the dollar / exchange rate is currently worth). However they'd probably want you to speak with some tax inclined folks if you're bringing $60k cash across the border ;) Now, a lot of cars are actually just cheaper in the US as well. My Dad buys all of his cars from the US on eBay and imports them - you just have to pay tax on them @ the border.
Platinum is the TOP of the line. People that can afford that kind of truck don't really pay too close attention to the sticker price... LOL...I have NEVER paid sticker price on any vehicle I have ever purchased. In the real, more average financial world, I just bought a 2015 XLT with the 2.7L Eco, the sport appearance, 301a and towing package with 3.73 gears...Sticker price was $51,000...I paid $42,000...and that is Canadian...
You never quote a vehicles price with taxes included. Taxes are too variable between localities and you have to keep the playing field level by quoting other vehicles without taxes. Also, no one pays MSRP on pickup trucks. These trucks have nice discounts as standard. It would be much less than $90K.
phil tripe Not sure what it equates to in American real estate, but was reading the other day that the average price of a home in Toronto right now is $1M. Seems insane.
Thamac15 Yeah you're right, it is a lot of money for this truck. Now I own one of these, same color and almost just as loaded and I think it's an amazing truck/luxury vehicle. The one tested is the highest trim level with all the options. I bought a Lariat trim with all the options(502A), minus the cameras and the self parking and I paid $55k. Also, he mentioned 90K, that includes tax and most ppl buy these on a company where you are credited the taxes.
edwardmtl he mentioned something about HST? DAMN THAT TAX DOUGH!!!!!!! That truck fully loaded here in the US... is about to cost me around $60k but maybe Ill get a discount because I have a game plan... MUHAAHAHAHAHA
dude... this dosent have rising suspention.ive heard that forddidnt do it cuz off roud its doing more bad than good.yes u gain ground clearence but u loose suspention travel and articulation - bad for off roud well as for air shield in the front its the problem off all new trucks - fuel eonomy
Derek Ortiz Yes it is CAD. I'm going to see if I can find the actual product sheet I had in the video and throw a link in the description. IIRC, the starting MSRP of this truck before it had any options on it was north of $60K CAD (but that's just from memory).
He was looking for a way to raise the suspension in the manual? Wow! He should be aware that the truck doesn't have airbags; therefore, there's no way to easily raise the suspension. Research before making a video.
lithium2370 That tax you mentioned; what is the percentage of that. I take it that it's a flat tax applied to every consumer good in Canada? I bought a new FX4 F-150, 2013 model in which the sticker price was $51,250 or so. If that Canadian tax was applied and the exchange rate to Canadian dollars, what would the total be, just curious?
Ford is really screwing up by lowering the front suspension like that, the customer shouldn't have to spend a few grand to give it a proper lift in the front. What the hell are the engineers thinking?
+sixshooter4570 The suspension isn't low the front air dam hangs low up front....its there to improved aerodynamic efficiency which is one of the reasons why this truck has such good gas mileage...
+incediery.... NO, it sits low, much lower than my 2000 F150 4x4 by about 2 to 2/1/2" lower. I know because I needed a small three step ladder to wash and wax my older truck whereas I don't need on for my 2014! Everyone knows they lowered the front some time ago for people who trailer heavy loads so the front wouldn't float when driving. It was a dumb move to have that much rake especially with the FX4 package!

Nova Saigo do you still have it? How is it so far
Fantastic video, Luke, I love the sky shots you put in there. Also, in my 15 years living in Toronto, I had no idea that place existed.

Great review Luke. Quick and to the point.
Thank you! I wanted to hit on and off road while keeping it quick and upbeat.
Shorts in March... Classic Luke.

It's 59-62 thousand in the U.S.
There's no way to lift or to lower the truck it does not have an air ride suspension

Hot off the press is this Off Road Review of the 2015 ***** F150 - check out how this truck handles the mud, and the roads!
90 grand i got it way cheaper
Its a v6 ahhaha lmfao.
a full load platinum is 77k not 90
I didn't realize that prices were different in Canada. That truck is $60,000 here in Texas. How does that work?

Thanks for the info.
if you read the book, it tells you to take the diffuser off before off roading

$90K? Now that's hilarious! I'll stick to my $38K 2014 Tundra Limited TRD
that's not the half of it...one Canadian dollar is equal to about 79 cents American and on top of that a 140k house costs them like 400k
phil tripe Not sure what it equates to in American real estate, but was reading the other day that the average price of a home in Toronto right now is $1M. Seems insane.

90K c'mon man! A Fully loaded F250 isn't that much
BRO ALL OF THE TRUCKS COME LIKE THAT U CAN PUT A LEVELING LIFT KIT OR JUST A LIFT KIT
My wife's Forester can go through that easy.
Excelente la camioneta, necesito cuanto cuesta y si esta hologada para colocar gas natural.
dude... this dosent have rising suspention.ive heard that forddidnt do it cuz off roud its doing more bad than good.yes u gain ground clearence but u loose suspention travel and articulation - bad for off roud
well as for air shield in the front its the problem off all new trucks - fuel eonomy
That's great and all, but not all of us live in Canada.
Awesome! review thanks for sharing
How is it $150 to fill? There is no way it holds 150 liters of gas
gr743g43ggfb4 it comes with a 24 gallon tank. but you can get the optional 36 gallon
here were I live you can buy the same truck with the same features for around 52,000
That's Canadian dollars right? Can get that truck in co for 55k

that arm rest would fits "3 or 4 heads in there..."
$70k 2016 here in Alberta Edmonton Canada. thinking of trading my 2014 ram1500 longhorn with air suspension.
Nice
Cool
I remember cargo shorts lol
He was looking for a way to raise the suspension in the manual? Wow! He should be aware that the truck doesn't have airbags; therefore, there's no way to easily raise the suspension. Research before making a video.
Wtf 90k. Way cheaper in the US(60k]

I'll stick with my 27 thousand dollar 2014 xlt f150
So that will be $62,000 american dollars! Nope, will instead spend $38,000 on the Colorado Diesel!
