WOW!! That video got me pumped up because I just bought a 2018 F-150 Sport 4X4. It's my first EVER truck and I needed it because last week, we had a snow storm and because I only have cars, my wife and I were snowed in for nearly a week. My neighbors? Many of them had 4X4 trucks and were moving around freely while my wife and I were peeking out the windows of our home trapped. I told her; "This will never happen to us again! I'm going to get us a truck!" As soon as the snow cleared up, I went shopping and picked up this beauty. Now I'm saying; "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!" LOL!!!
I went from two Tundras, 2008 and 2014, to a 15 f150. I will never buy another brand truck after the past year and a half experience with the f150. Best truck I've ever had hands down.
I had a 2007 Tundra Crewcab Limited 5.7L 4x4 for about 4 years. Had a ton of power, really enjoyed it except for the constant unstoppable rust. Like most Toyotas, the engine will last a half million miles but the frame and body only 100k. Traded it for 2016 Ford F150 XLT Supercrew 5.0L v8 4x4 recently, it drives so much smoothly and quietly with much better power band. With aluminum body I won't have to worry as much about rust driving here in Ohio.
You know you could have just rust proofed it every other year and you would have been fine. With so much ground clearance it wouldn't be a difficult job.
Or Toyota could put 15 minutes of research into better rust proofing from the factory. Or here's a novel thought, be innovative and use aluminum body panels.
@@syedahmedrazaabidi1 I do if roading for hunting. I wouldn't go crazy with it. If you have the funds go for a raptor. Now you can kill that beast . It could take the punishment.

I have a 2015 fx4 and sure it has skid plates but they’re plastic. My father in laws 2019 Rebel has metal plates and is more off road ready off the lot than any Ford other than a Raptor. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a Ford guy but you definitely get more for your money with a Dodge
Mike Mulhearn I couldnt get the fx4. But my new 2019 stx supercrew has 4 wheel drive, 3.31 electronic locking rear axle, and the 7000 gvwr and iv trailer hit ch. I dont think ill ever go offroading but i hope it would be enough to get me to school and back during virginia snow lol.
this is one video I can rewatch 100 times and still have a smile on my face seeing him having that much fun was amazing definitely one of the best videos I have seen
If the snow is nice fresh dry and powdery yeah you can drive right thru like in this video. So much fun! If the snow is wet, hard, crusty and icy, you ain't going nowhere.
Ford must have much better software controlling their transfer case than ram does. The ram would have burned up its transfer case halfway through filming.
I really like the 4A modes on trucks like this. I had it on a 2nd Gen Explorer, and it really took the guesswork out of driving up steep Mississippi River Valley hills after 12" of snow. I'm pretty sure it had a viscous diff in the back too.
I just bought a Ram 1500 that came with those same tires. I’ve wondered if I’ll need to change them up for the winter, but I’m feeling pretty confident after seeing how they performed here.
I lived in Denver a few years ago and had more snow on city streets, thank god for my mountaineer with AWD and pos traction rear end. Remember two ruts and someone had to give way usually me.
Roman, having fun? But in that powdery snow it's not that much of a challenge! Try that in some heavy wet snow in the N.E. mountains! Sure the mountains are not as big, but we do have many trails that are impossible to get through without a snow machine!
well, at least the dude correctly pointed out that this is more a test of the tires than the truck. the 4wd system plays some role, although if you don't have lockers and whatnot one is more or less as good as the next, but the tires are by far and away the most important factor.
I'm ready to buy a new 2015 F-150 3.5L Eco-boost but lack of snowplow data worries me...but Aluminum is the wave of the future in trucks...you can be sure! No more RUST, baby!
4x4 low is for crowling up or down steep hills at slow speeds. 4x4 high is for flat areas that are a little rough, snowy, or little icy on hwy or dirt. U can drive 65 mph in 4x4 high. 4x4 low top speed maybe 30 t0 35mph. 😁👍
Aegist, I'm a truck nut, love'em all, and researched on every truck forum I could find, every brand, then test drove all of them. Drove salesmen crazy for 6 years. Then at last minute, two days before I bought my 2015 F150 Ecoboost 3.5 Platinum 4x4, I went to Toyota dealer one more time to give the highest end Tundra they had another test. Wow, what a difference! That Tundra, 2015 high end model 4x4, felt not nearly as good as the F150. Ethyl also said a big NO to the Tundra. Anyway, I'm still not brand loyal and will change in a NYC second next time if I find a better truck. I love competition. The new Ram and GM are looking mighty good. GM is FINALLY making round wheel wells too! I just don't like the cylinder deactivation they put on 6.2! I don't like it on 5.3, but really don't like it on the 6.2. I'll drive one to see... Man, I just love trucks.
What an awesome video- awesome dog, awesome truck, awesome camera work, awesome weather, awesome music. 10/10 no complaints. The only thing you forgot to do is to bring Nathan and Emme along with the raptor for a comparison.
How fun Roman...the pup was loving it too!!! LOL, living in Southern Arizona I may never have that much snow to play in but hoping my 2015 RAM 1500 Sport can find some mud puddles!
Hey guys! As winter is on its way again, could you do a test focusing on tires for off and on road use in the snow? Would love to see how a snowflake rated all-terrain (BFG KO2, Duratrac) compares to a proper winter tire (Nokian or something like that) on the same truck, both on road and off :)
I just got my a truck like this but with the 3.5 ecoboost because I have looked at this trucks with high mileage and on your typical web sites were you buy vehicles I was pleasantly surprised with seeing a lot of this trucks with the 2.7 3.5 and 5.0 with serious high mileage and they look like they look like they are holding on real good . And I also work with some people that have both the early ecoboost and the now 3th gen ecoboost and they have had lots of success with this trucks .
After watching this video, I am confident to try mine, the same model as this one, on 15 inches of snow this Sunday, December 22, 2019. I will come back to tell if I can pull it off. Last weekend we tried my cousins Tundra, but it didn't pass 20 feet.
I have a Range Rover and Toyota Land Cruiser to get me through the snow but I've often wondered about these pick up trucks, if they are primarily designed as rugged load-carriers or if they actually are serious off roaders in all conditions. You just answered my question! I was especially impressed at how it performed on All Season tyres rather than pure winter tyres (I swap my Range Rover from all season nto winter tyres for the cold months and I notice a big difference.) Not sure how this one stacks up against a Range Rover or Land Cruiser in that regard, but as I don't go looking for trouble it can clearly deal with anything I am likely to encounter.
Great video guys! That's basically the exact configuration I'd have on the new F150. However, I'd get the 5.0L V8 instead of the 2.7 and I'd get the FX4 package which comes with skid plates and an electronic locking axle. You'll basically never get stuck if you have a locking differential.
personally i only find a locker helps in rock crawling situations, in mud an open diff is perfectly fine considering neither wheel is really under enough tension to not spin
I like how it has a "new" automatic mode when in fact my 1998 Navigator has that. There's 2WD, A4WD, 4Hi, and 4Lo. Hopefully they improved the algorithms or at least processing speed because when I launch in A4WD, it takes a split second to realize what's going on. It's fine on a slow start though.
when driving in snow that is deep as that or deeper, some times you acually have to turn the traction control off because it will cut power and slow you down. you need your speed and the ability to spin your tires. (real world tip).
Tristan Rios Only an ignorant misguided fanboy would say this. Come on, take that fanboy crap to the post office and send it back. All the 15 King Ranch owners sure wouldn't agree with your statement. Or the new 15 Lariats that are being shipped with Platinum tailgates. Now THAT speaks volumes to Fords quality control efforts. I have owned Fords,...plenty of "bad" to say about them as well as other brands. The world doesn't need anymore fanboys, we have enough of them.
We'll be happy to oblige you so here you go. When you open the window after a snowstorm on the new F-150 the snow falls into the truck from the little ledge on the door. The integrated brake control is too low and hidden out of sight. When it rains and you brake the water comes flying off the hood and onto the windscreen. The clam shell doors are a royal pain in the ass, but this true for all trucks with this opposing door set-up and we don't really like the goofy horizontal strip of fake wood down the inside of the door panel. It reminds us of something from a 1970's Lincoln. Happy?
The Fast Lane Truck The new F150s do that stupid thing with water hitting the front window when you brake too? It drives me nuts on my 2014 Sierra, I never understood why it does it either. Every time I hit my brakes hard while it rains, I always get a big splash of water on the front window from the front grill/hood area. It does it after I go to the car wash too which is even more annoying agter drying your window.
Those tires look like the Wrangler SR-A tires which I'm not too fond of (they're on my truck), but if that's what they are it's good to see they did ok in that snow.
whats really fun is buying a used half blowed up, only dirt and rust holding it together, jeep cherokee off CL for a grand and taking it to the woods. no worries if you do hit a tree or get to tight in a creek bed and skin it up.
@@02hreblue30 In 2013 the FX4 was not a package, it was a trim level right below Lariat and that's why it didn't have it. In 2015 FX4 became a package instead of a trim making it available when you again get Lariat and higher.
Google Minus and what was yours? Why was it so important to you, to mention that you dont live in canada, and that the people in the video arent either. Everybody know they're in colorado.
4x4 automatic has been around since at least 2004, actually our Ford Explorer 2004 nbx has a feature with 4x4 automatic but I assume this is more advanced
My 96 Explorer has pretty much the same system, it called Control Trac and invented by Borg Warner. It came out in 95. I went to look at a new truck and the salesman said I sold your truck back when, the concept is exactly the same, maybe stronger better parts and software. 96 Explorers were the last to have the front axle disconnect(as opposed to always on 4wd vs a dedicated 2wd mode), these trucks have the same hardware on the front axle, it is vacuum actuated.
4x4 auto has been I'm Ford trucks and suvs for a while now, I have a 2003 Ford explorer with 4x4 auto, not as advanced as the new one I'm sure, but it turns on 4 wheel drive when needed as well as distributes power. Probably not as quick or smart as the newest systems though. Still loads of fun in the snow, I was just racing around on a snowy trail earlier, I had the same problem as you, couldn't stop laughing or smiling.
That truck looks very dependable. Some Chevy's are built to last as well; we just spent $50 in gas off-roading in loose dirt, come check out the video we made with DSLR's and GoPro's.
Fast Lane Truck. The 4WA setting is not anything new on Ford Trucks. The feature started appearing on trucks in 2011 in upper trims levels and then proliferated down the trim levels in subsequent years. The transmission/transfer case is identical (or near identical) to 2014 F-150. Everything else is brand new however.
Quick question, so it doesn't look like the bed was full of snow for extra rear end weight, but how much was really back there and/or did you throw any extra weight in the bed? It's something I've been wondering about while I've been waiting on the 2016's to open up for ordering, in so far as I'm trying to sort out what to plan for setting it up with for dealing with the snow out here.
Price point comparison the 2015 F150 is a way better buy vs its competition in terms of features for $ as well as performance. Comparing a SLT Sierra for example to the Lariat, the leather in the Lariat and interior in the Ford is light years ahead of GM. Ram well, really dated in most of the interior and exterior features. The look and feel of the F150 has really taken a big step forward. Well done Ford.
+Troy Power - was looking at GMC Canyon to replace Wrangler. With all incentives right now, XLT 4X4 CrewCab is price was cheaper w/better gas mileage than GMC Canyon! Choice was easy!
+Cory R i get 12.5L/100 kms in the city...it's rated 13l/100km in the city. so i'm impressed with it. yet to have any hwy tho. i would think it is great!
Wishing my 2011 f150 4x4 had auto. My AWD Mazda seamlessly engaged AWD in snowy/icy conditions, which was way safer. More I need to anticipate icy/snowy spots in the road and engage 4x4 on the fly, which takes a while. I've hit some icy patches and started sliding around without enough time to engage 4x4. Safer on Michigan roads with 4x4 auto

I love the new Ford F150.. Nice truck.. nice ride.. 🖒up all the way.. thanks Ford Michigan keep on making great trucks.. Edmonton ALBERTA Canada..
4 low in snow? really? I thought these guys were from Colorado.
Fordfanone Ikr I can do that in my civic or 2wd in a truck
Fordfanone - Yeah I was wondering the same thing. Maybe the guy is really from Miami.
Fordfanone lol I live here I live in a small town and snow is hell here my towns is legit in a mountain it's hard for winter
I agree? 4Lo is not for snow! You'll dig yourself deeper and star spinning because too much torque in 4LO.
your civic barely makes it out of the driveway
Roman, you ain't right. Not right a'tall. But hey, I like it!! My truck is '15 4x4, but I've never had to use it, except in my own place.
Your old videos are better than your new ones.
Loved the dog more than the truck 👍🏻
Fords are definitely hard to beat
GM has had the 4-mode transfer case for over a decade and it works great. I assumed that Ford and Ram did too.
Ford added it in 2012 for Lariat and up. It's a great feature.
@@davidogg1454 i had a decked 2013 FX4 Lariat. Wasn't available
@@02hreblue30 In 2013 the FX4 was not a package, it was a trim level right below Lariat and that's why it didn't have it. In 2015 FX4 became a package instead of a trim making it available when you again get Lariat and higher.
@@davidogg1454 splitting hairs. It was for all intensive purposes a Lariat not an XLT.
As someone that lived in the mountains and as much as I love the Tacomas, the F150 V8 would probably do quite a bit better in deep snow.
I love V8s as well but what difference would it make in the snow if its the same 4x4 and tires?
it would be illigal to drive the truck in the winter time with those tires(unless they have snowflake and mountain logo) in my province in canada.
They do.
lucky644 you mean they have the logo?
i know i was just saying!!!
Google Minus and what was yours? Why was it so important to you, to mention that you dont live in canada, and that the people in the video arent either. Everybody know they're in colorado.
Google Minus aint uptight. I just dont see the need of your comment
NEEDS TO BE LONGER!!!
Am I the only one that thinks the F150 gives off a mean look?
Snow drive reviews rock!
Fluffy power can make a truck look super capable. You wouldn’t get too far in 1” of wet snow.
Great video, Love the dog!
The goodyear SRA`s suck, but did pretty good in this. And when your 700lbs lighter that helps to through deep snow or mud.
Still this is a nice truck love the ones with the square led headlights.
The Ford SUV have thw. The previous generation F150 didn't have auto 4 wheel drive.
DJR5280 Yes they did, 2012 Lariat has 4A
I have never seen one but I will take your word for it.
That aerodynamic lip had a tough day!
You guys should take the new ram 1500 & 2500 trucks through the Colorado snow!
man yall getin that mile high over there in colorado
That truck looks very dependable.
Some Chevy's are built to last as well; we just spent $50 in gas off-roading in loose dirt, come check out the video we made with DSLR's and GoPro's.
Looks like you had yourself a little fun
Fast Lane Truck. The 4WA setting is not anything new on Ford Trucks. The feature started appearing on trucks in 2011 in upper trims levels and then proliferated down the trim levels in subsequent years. The transmission/transfer case is identical (or near identical) to 2014 F-150. Everything else is brand new however.
Great video! Snow looks amazing same with the truck. You should try the Ram eco diesel.
Choice was easy!
still expensive for a gasser. especially if driven everyday
+Piney Winston Gas mileage is not what they say on the F-150s, especially if you get an ecoboost.
Cory R So far (since Dec 27, I drive about 60 miles a day), the F150 is getting the same mileage as my totaled Wrangler. I was expecting worse.
+Cory R i get 12.5L/100 kms in the city...it's rated 13l/100km in the city. so i'm impressed with it. yet to have any hwy tho. i would think it is great!
I was pretty surprised when he said that it's an ecoboost.
I'm kind of wondering how my 5.0 will do in that same environment 😂😂😂
Won't matter
Wishing my 2011 f150 4x4 had auto. My AWD Mazda seamlessly engaged AWD in snowy/icy conditions, which was way safer. More I need to anticipate icy/snowy spots in the road and engage 4x4 on the fly, which takes a while. I've hit some icy patches and started sliding around without enough time to engage 4x4. Safer on Michigan roads with 4x4 auto
Awesome 👍🏾 👍🏾 2015 Ford F-150 4x4 Ecoboost off-road review .
That dog is awesome!
Glad they drive well in snow cus I drive through some pretty nasty areas lol
Wow looks insanely fun!
You wouldn't have had to walk back to the Raptor. You had the XC60 right there :P
First of all, that's not an XC60. It's the new V60 Cross Country; and you can't tow with it...
handas2 He said "walk back to get the raptor" I wasn't suggesting towing with the V60.
He said he would have to walk back to the parking area I assume to take a loaner vehicle to go get the raptor in Boulder .
Please do this with a GMC Sierra!
Great test.
