  • Fly fishing tailwater rivers in the winter is where fly fishermen want to be. The water is warmer, the trout are more active, and the winter Midge and Blue Winged Olive mayflies are hatching. Tailwater Rivers can give the angler all the advantages fly fisherman want in the winter, fewer anglers and hungry trout.

First, I saw the gloved hand, holding the fish....
    THEN
I saw it was coming from YOUR channel.
    Kinda surprised me.
I am sure that fish was unaffected by any micro abrasions sources by your gloves.
I am sure he is alive and healthy as I write this.
Lastly, I am sure that u SHOULD b well aware of the established practice of NOT wearing gloves when u handle fish ....and the matching established practice of " keeping them wet"
How about a little upgrade in your practice, sir.??

That's not my hand, I don't wear gloves in winter, I'm behind the camera. The fly fishing industry has addressed your concerns with some really cool gloves. Fingerless, wool over the Nuckels, and vinyl or rubber on the palms. These gentlemen I met on the river were wearing these gloves. Not all anglers are like you and I, they can't handle below freezing temperatures. The alternative is to use rubber or vinyl surgical gloves, or winter gloves designed to handle fish. What you did hot point out is the nest is a rubber friendly net, the fly was barbless, there were no steel cleats on their soles and both men are highly involved in the conservation of our rivers and the health of the trout that live in them. As far as your passive aggressive comments on me and NWSFF I doubt I can change your opinion, nor will I try.
