I am aware that some places like the US use different words, but I would at least avoid a term as confusing as "chips". With "Crisps", everyone knows.

I would like to see laws in place so that if a rider, while on the course, is touched by anything owned by a spectator then the spectator is hit with, at least, a large minimum fine.

I’m more concerned about the flares and fireworks causing smoke mayhem for everybody rather than targeting riders like this. Those have been normalized to an absurd degree that needs to get resolved. Luckily it wasn’t as bad today but there some really bad examples out there.
I saw this in real time and couldn't believe that the commentators didn't pick up on it straight away....

Just not throwing garbage at the riders, the" Fans " are gettingv way too close to the riders, almost blocking thwir way. But how do you patrol an open area like that?
They try to set most of it up with rope, problem is that the fans just climb over it.
Further up the mountain, there was metal fencing and that seemed to work. Ban people from places without fencing.
