    Why would you throw things an athlete putting his heart and soul into a race up a freaking mountain? Race officials need to solve this problem ASAP.

      do you know the day before the start many crazy people drink all night and get drunk then they do not know what they are doing ,go where all the DUTCH are on the road they are maniac crazy all night with loud music many are on the road or never been on a rice bike and no clue how the riders suffer.

    I am a Pogi fan but I have to take my hat off to to Jonas. One without the other, it wouldn’t be as spectacular. When these 2 move with the race, I cheer like my SCBraga just scored a goal. Let’s see what the remaining mountains and TT reserve to us. GG Jonas and Pogi.

    This is absolutely disgusting behavior and it shouldn’t be allowed. Unfortunately, this is the TDF. When the great Greg Lemond competed, I remembered him saying that “French” spectators used to throw vinegar and piss…….when Fausto Coppi rode the TDF they did the same thing. it is repulsive and I don’t know if there’s a solution.

    It is a miracle Jonas is even alive after that crash and a miracle that he is riding the race so far at second place in the hardest race in cycling and on a particularly hard stage.
    Remember Jonas only got on a bike 6 weeks before the start after 10 weeks off. Plus he is missing his top mountain domestique to covid.
    Pog will win in Nice but even he knows the real contest is hopefully in 2025 with both of them fully fit and with full support teams and maybe as we have just heard Remco riding the 2025 TDF as leader with a fully dedicated Red Bull Bora.

    We are lucky to have this extraordinary Grand Tour rider, Jonas, competing in the same generation as perhaps the most complete cyclist of all time. Both guys are not only extraordinary sportsmen, but wonderful human beings as well. Such a difference from the stern leadership of Merckx, Hinault, and Armstrong.

I know very precisely what is humanly possible and what’s not. I can attest that what those two riders achieve is not humanly possible, by far. From that, you can conclude what you want. By the way, my point of view is the same as all scientists who are working on aerobic professional athletes. There is no discussion on it in the field. Moreover, if you have the luck to speak with pro athletes, as I have, you will be completely horrified by the means some riders use to reach the level we see at the front of the race in TDF.

      @@HeySers Yes. Make your search and you will find indirect but irrefutable proof. Like all the suspect performances in the past, I’ve shown to others the numbers which shows the cheaters. They have all been convicted (most of the time by other athletes) with blood transfusions, chemical helpers, electric bikes, and now genetic modification. Look at the past a,d you will understand the present and see the future.

      I was actually a bit surprised that he didn't catch back up to Pog, I know the last part of the last climb "levels off" which favors pogi, but after a a brutal tourmalet, I thought he would fade like he did on stage 11.

      @@josephsong8911the difference was the teams. Tadej massively benefited from Yates, while Jonas had no one. After stage 11 we could see Tadej can't do it alone so UAE were smart today. Team won the day. Both riders are equally strong. Jonas is better on longer climbs, Tadej is better on shorter punchier climbs and straights. Jonas is a little off his best form but looks almost super human considering the crash and all the missed prep/altitude camp/leadup stages he has endured. It seems unreal

      Tadej can't win the tour by himself obviously after what we saw in stage 11. And this year UAE has the better team. Visma really needed Kuss. Jonas/Tadej look equal, which is crazy considering Jonas isn't in top form.

      @@oscarbarquincaloca5762 Comparing a bike race to WRC is preposterous. Besides WRC stages being much shorter, it's one thing to be standing on the road when bikes are passing by. It's another when it's a rally car. Concern for personal safety keeps people out of the way of a rally car.
      You think 100 policemen can control crowds along a 180 km TdF stage? That's one policeman for every 1.8 km. That's nothing. You should lookup how many police are along each stage at the TdF. It's a heck of a lot more than 100.

    Jonas and Pogi are next level-class. Jonas especially, coming off that crash, no shame. That being said, there have been riders who have given a fan a nice poke in the nose. Fans around that guy should have handled it, maybe they did.

    of course Jonas had an outstanding performance today! he came in 2nd place in the largest bike race in the world! I am happy for Tadej to get the win, but definitely still pulling for Jonas. Either way, they are both outstanding athletes that display class and sportsmanship in their rivalry, and I love to watch them.

      He would have lost more time. The last climb was way too flat. Even if he had dropped Pogacar, he would have just come back on the flat part and counterattacked him.

      Dont know whats so hard to understand about this. Yes, maybe he would have been able to drop Tadej, if hes attacking at the start of the climb, but it would have made no sense because he wouldnt be able to hold the lead.

    C’est un très grand Champion et je pense une bonne personne,mais j’espère de tout cœur que dans quelques années toutes ces performances ne soient pas annulées par des révélations suite à des analyses plus poussées…. Je souhaite pour le cyclisme que ces performances soient dues uniquement à un travail et à des entraînements suivis,ce serait tellement dommage…

    To some spectators its the tour de france.
    To others its a spectacle and they come out for other reasons. They know they can have full access to big sports figures, within inches.
    Not many sports where that happens. Too dangerous by far.

    Assaults against riders is a Tour de France problem. It doesn't happen at the Giro or Vuelta. While Tour spectators were throwing urine at Sky riders, Giro and Vuelta fans were respectful.

    If Jonas had Kuss today he would have either finished with same time or lost only a few seconds to Tadej since the finish suited Tadej a bit more. Teams matter. That showed in stage 11 when Poga couldn't do it on his own, just like Jonas couldn't have won the last 2 tours on his own.

    the spectators are ridiculous and even worst is that the commentators play this political game saying its great for the sport and when something happens like today it is hardly even spoken of..every sport network cbs,eurosport,gcn etc should spend at least 5 minutes every day of the tours warning and reminding the hooligans..the networks should do this to bring more awareness of the dangers involved

    He's coming around to the truth, that before He was better and used it to humiliate Tadej, but this year Tadej is a lot stronger and remains the nice guy He's always been. Maybe having His face rubbed in the mud and being humbled may make Jonas a decent human being. I'm not holding my breath for it, though.
