Hi there. Love the video. A lot more than just unboxing 👍I’ve just retired after 20 years as a karaoke DJ and am now looking to move into renting out equipment for house parties instead. So something like this JBL would be perfect I think? My main concern would be quality vocals together playing backing tracks through an iPad. Also carrying the least amount of equipment as possible in my old age! I can’t decide between this and the Bose. I’ve also heard some good reports regarding the Soundboks 3. I’d value your opinion.
What are the dimensions of the inner box? I’m wondering if the inner box will fit inside a Pelican Air 1626 while I wait for custom foam to be made by MyCaseBuilder for the Pelican Air flight case. I’m hoping the inner box with a bit of extra packing would be safe enough to fly with if I need to. I don’t really want to buy pick and pluck foam only to throw it out a few weeks later.
Hi Aaron! Really appreciated the review. Just bought four of them and tried to link via Bluetooth and been working on it for a week now to get it right for a wedding.....nearly pulling my hair out at the end! lol Ending up abandoning the idea as it was too risky. Found that blue tooth would speed music up and create static when we were up to four speakers(through an Air 2 iPad.... will try later iPad and see if this fixes it. Really enjoyed your comments on pre-amp and also your bit on EQ and FX.... just a heads up when using multiple speakers....the joining noise for Bluetooth is a life saver cos its hard to know when they have actually connected otherwise....the other cool thing is the "locater" on the mixer which lets you know which speaker your'e playing through. lol Would love to see a full review and you out working with it. Great job and thanks for taking the time to share! Pete
Hey Peter thanks for the comment. Your experience is so valuable! I am sure having the latest Bluetooth would benefit you. To be honest in some places having multiple wireless devices is just not possible due to the MASSIVE amounts of 2.4ghz traffic around these days. Let me know if you get it working though, I am very interested to hear. I plan on taking mine to a rehearsal space to really test out the preamps and I also have a show at Bloomingdale’s on Thursday so I will take it there as well. I want my final review to be concise and I will consider your feedback also!

We are deciding in few days among the JBL, the Bose S1 pro and Mackie Freeplay Live for two mics and one guitar light-busking duo.. how would you compare the three, just a very first impression? Hi! Yes I believe it will be fine. Of course it depends on how much background noise there is and now large the room is etc. Volume is a very subjective thing.
Do you know if, since this first came out, JBL has made any improvements? I know there were volume issues and problems with the HiZ input cited by some. Are you still using yours?
@@aaronshortmusic I bought one when it first came out for a really good price but returned it as the bluetooth kept dropping the connection. That may have something to do with my old phone though. Seeing the price now I wish I'd kept it. Would you rather have it than the Bose S1?

Hi Aaron, Thanks for the review. 👍 Im a DJ myself and have been looking at either the JBL Compact or Bose S1. I believe that only the Bluetooth audio will come through the speakers. For any mic or instruments to pass through they would have to be wired. Please check with JBL and let me know if I’m wrong though.
Your buying the wrong thing if your connecting multiple Compacts. You should buy 2 - EON610’s for the price of one Compact; you would get more coverage and flexibility.
