@@Adam-kx9gi As a child, I did not like to see Julie Newmar replaced. As an adult, I find Eartha Kitt's performance well worth watching. I now like both and cannot choose a favorite.
Correct Julie Newmar was the only Catwoman who could make Batman turn into a quivvering jelly with any slightly sexual references and he went weak, stammered and didn't know what to do, Eartha Kitt had no chemistry with Batman and was just another villan. Watch how Newmar can go from sexualness to woman scorned in a matter of seconds. Also Catwoman was the only villan who could actual die in the show and come back due to her nine lives. These things are what made 60s Catwoman unique to the show and Julie Newmar was the only one who could play her properly.
@@steveh31 I view the Julie Newmar vs. Eartha Kitt Catwoman versions in perspective of the era. Would audiences of that era have approved of Eartha Kitt interacting in the same manner with Batman. However, I am in agreement about Julie Newmar's acting abilities as she also did superb work interacting with male actors in the Route 66 series as well as Twilight Zone. If you have not yet viewed her performances in those shows, do so!

When my children were little in the early 90's, this was on regularly in syndication and my kids loved it. It was how I taught them the concept of time. If we were in a car driving somewhere, when they asked, "How much longer?" I would answer by telling them how many Batman episodes. If we had an hour to go, I'd say, "Two Batman episodes." LOL. I'm a twin (I'm the girl, he's the boy..born 1962) When Batman came out, it was the ONLY show we could agree on..Quick, grab the batphone! (Our dad was a telephone man..lol)✌️ (edit) As I watch this further, I remember how scary it was in kindergarden thru 3rd grade *SoCal) having "earthquake" drills (which were actually leftover nuclear drills..which I always wondered how a desk could save anything). It was scary in the 60's. Once we had to 'line up' 1967-68 (no parental permission) to get Small Pox shots, me and bro's didn't 'catch' and they took us in a separate room and started stabbing our thighs with the shots (i count 8 scars). You will see everyone between , like 55 y.o to 65 have a big round, multi dotted scar on their arm...look! My dad was pissed!! ✌️
@derekseven1647 good point. How many of the attendance (myself as an example) to comic book movies (since Reeeve's Superman to Deadpool vs. Wolverine) were amazed and engaged by this great TV series?
@kennedyrose6766 I was born in 1962 also. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any siblings, but always loved the Batman TV series but I remember watching it in the late afternoon, not at night. And I remember it being on a UHF channel, not ABC, CBS, or NBC. I don’t remember who gave me the Polio vaccine. I wish my parents were still alive today as I have so many unanswered questions and miss them so much. I also don’t remember doing any duck and cover in school. I started first grade in 1968, I believe; maybe 1969? I know I completed 8th grade in June of 76 (I went through Catholic school in Philadelphia for 12 years and we “graduated from grade school after 8th grade). I never had a great memory! I hope my mind is still okay now at age 62! Just realized that I’m 62 and was born in 62! I don’t see a scar from the polio shot, but I do know that I had that circular dotted scar when I was younger. Can you still see yours? Sorry for rambling! Be well! Mike
At 65 years old and retired, I watch an episode of Batman every Saturday night. It's my start to what I call "SiFi Night" where I alternate with a choice of SiFi TV shows I liked when I was a kid like Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Johnny Quest, Cartoon Superman/Aquaman, and the Super Heroes like Hawkman, the Atom, etc. The Outer Limits and the Six Million Dollar Man to name a few. I start off with Batman and alternate every week between the other shows. After the third season of Batman, I watch the Batman movies (Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, etc) then start all over again. Chronologically.
When Batman came to the UK we had to watch it in black and white as colour television was still new and very few people could afford a set. I was six and my friends and I were avid fans. It was almost compulsory viewing alongside Thunderbirds! We all drove our parents mad screaming out the na na na na Batman theme.
I always had to settle for the kids at school talking about last night's episode since we had only one b&w tv, three channels (ABC and CBS snowy reception), and the TV played what dad wanted to see. So we got Daniel Boone and Mission Impossible instead of Batman or The Monkees.
I grew up in the 80s and 90s, and it was an interesting time to be a batman fan - which I was, diehard. According to my parents, Batman was one of my first words. However, I did not have an established, preferred version of him. I remember seeing the 89 movie when I was only four or five years old and loving it despite how dark it was for a child that age. I remember watching the 66 series in syndication religiously and loving it too. And I remember when BTAS became my favorite Saturday morning cartoon. Despite how tonally different they all were, they were all still Batman to me, and I was obsessed with all of them.
Just the theme song was the best. Granted not the best lyrics, hmmm let's see what comes after batman? How bout ... Batman! Genius! But the whole thing the way they filmed it the costumes the henchmen it was all collectively, really really cool.
So brilliant. As a kid you just saw action, fun and colour. Then as you got older you saw spoof, cynicism, comedy. That shark fight in the movie is priceless. Cesar Romero the unquestionably best Joker (sorry, Jack). In fact all the best versions of the baddies. Oh, and you saw Julie Newmar And Yvonne Craig
I was 9 years old when Batman debuted in 1966 and Mr. Timm is correct. It is impossible to overstate how immense this series was as a pop culture phenomenon, and how influential it was to my generation. It was unlike anything we'd seen on television -- or any other medium -- before. And while some later observers have dismissed it as not true Batman, as an avid reader I can attest it was entirely consistent with the 1960s comic book. (It also had the coolest Batmobile ever, bar none.)
That's what I've been saying for a long time; the Batman series was representative of the comic's silver age. It was colorful and wasn't afraid to be goofy. That's why the Tim Burton movies were so gothic and serious; they were influenced by the Alan Moore and Frank Miller takes in the 80's.
😎👍Very totally wonderfully cool and very nicely greatly fabulously well done indeed Sir's, I was 8yrs old when Batman came out in 66 and watched every week it was on and to this day and I have the entire 3 seasons of the series on DVD and have many collectibles die cast Batmobiles and vehicles and various figures and so forth from the series indeed!👌.
Stuff like that wasn’t visible on 60s televisions. Bet you never noticed the fish line holding their capes in place either. It’s quite noticeable on the Bluray.
You have to admit, Daniel Craig practically reinvented the whole franchise. Casino Royale was one of the best Bond films that I've ever seen. But I still love From Russia with Love, especially seeing Sean Connery and Robert Shaw in the same film.
@immortaltyger1569 meh Daniel Craig was a horrible choice imo. And the reinvention of Bond sucked. Became so dull and took itself way too seriously. Nobody will ever top Connery and Brosnan.
Has anyone seen the meme floating around that says "Have all the confidence of a 4 year old wearing a Batman shirt"? I have a picture of 4 year old me in a Batman shirt, Christmas 1966! I've been a fan all my life!
I wish Batman had gone more than 3 seasons. But by the time 1969 came along, the world was full of violence and unrest and people's tastes changed and wanted more realistic TV shows.
Four when 1 saw 1st episode & thought it was the greatest thing until i saw The Green Hornet w/ Bruce Lee as Kato! Burt & Bruce were friends!. The fights were epic! RIP
As a kid in the UK I remember going to see the the movie at alum rock Birmingham in the capital picture house on a Saturday morning matinee in the early 70s
Batman's TV show had flavor and smell too. The Batman bubblegum cards were so great! You'd buy that pack of cards with a stale slab of generic baseball card bubble gum and you'd smell that stuff even before you opened the package. My brother and I had hundreds of Batman cards. My brother collected Batman (and Superman) comics. The merch was all part of the allure. Every kid wanted a Batman costume, a Batman insignia on his school books, a Batman lunchbox. Batman toys. The ultimate would have been a Batmobile model to put together. We never had that. We couldn't get enough Batman! Even today, I own Batman T-shirts. I only buy the ones with the classic yellow and black Batman insignia.

This is truly the TV show that started it all but comic book Mania into live action
Born the same year and will always love this show.
This is awesome :)
@derekseven1647 good point. How many of the attendance (myself as an example) to comic book movies (since Reeeve's Superman to Deadpool vs. Wolverine) were amazed and engaged by this great TV series?
@kennedyrose6766
I was born in 1962 also.
It may have been a 'spoof' and campy, but being how the Batman comics were at the time, the show was spot on to the readings.
Thx. Bat66 & JQ & H/J ( Cartoon ) are the best. Many thanks to all of you🍻
Just the theme song was the best. Granted not the best lyrics, hmmm let's see what comes after batman? How bout ... Batman! Genius! But the whole thing the way they filmed it the costumes the henchmen it was all collectively, really really cool.
My dad was born in 79 and loves it. I was born in 19 and I love it.
Don't forget "The Wild West" that combined the western, detective genre and science fiction as a great iteration of 60s television.
Batman was the bomb, period!!!!!
And the word 'HOLY' was never the same again...
One of Warner Bros absolute gems, and global at that. Thanks from here in the UK.
I still watch this in 2024 absolutely timeless 🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🐧🐧🐧🐧👍🤠🦅⭐✌️✌️
I wouldn’t say it’s timeless…
You're right it is timeless
Damn Julie Newmar.
❤❤❤❤❤❤great huge fan of the 60s batman tv series
That was Awesomw! It really me back .
And on twice a week! Same Bat Time Same Bat channel.
That's what I've been saying for a long time; the Batman series was representative of the comic's silver age. It was colorful and wasn't afraid to be goofy. That's why the Tim Burton movies were so gothic and serious; they were influenced by the Alan Moore and Frank Miller takes in the 80's.
Precisely, old chum.
I think Burton's movies have some fine goofy moments
- Honey, I'm home! Oh I forgot I'm not married...
ADAM WEST will always be my Batman.
Holy best ever, Batman!
I love the 1960s Batman series :)
I have so much to say about it - but I think I'll leave it at that.
VINCENT PRICE AS EGGHEAD IS EPIC!
Eggs-quisite acting!
@@robertcuny934 Bar none! 🤣

@@robertcuny934 That was an eggstraordinary response. lol.
Julie Newman is still 🔥🔥😍😍🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Very well done!
Beautifully done ! This would have held my attention for hours. Bravo ! "Holy Peanut Butter sandwich Batman, we're in a Jam "!!!
Thank you for this video
Batman 4-ever r.i.p. adam west peace & love.😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
My favourite Batman is Adam West because I was a kid and I likes to see the Batman TV Show 1966. Thank you for sharing the video. 😊❤😢😅
I am shocked and appalled at the tear (or worse, a stain ?) that appears on Batman's uniform @7:30. What has he been up to? Holy innuendo Robin!
Stuff like that wasn’t visible on 60s televisions. Bet you never noticed the fish line holding their capes in place either. It’s quite noticeable on the Bluray.
Never ever heard someone sum up the joy and timing of Batman - "Batman showed up in primary colors!" yes he did. Thank You Batman!
I watched the four guys doing the introduction. I felt exactly the same way!
💙🌃🐦Burt Ward & Adam West 🦇🌠💙
Happy 85th Anniversary, Batman fans!
Mike Uslan will never admit that Batman wasnt dark and scarey from the 1940s to 1970
Yep...he's right. For me, the true Batman is Adam West. He's the first one to whom I was introduced, just like Sean Connery is the true James Bond.
@@immortaltyger1569 Craig pursed his lips too much, sullen, leading lady in "Casino" was flat-figured and dull, Connery and Moore the best!
@@immortaltyger1569the fight on the train.
@@gregoryjgarcia3862 Exactly! And I seem to remember an interesting masseuse early in that movie.
Has anyone seen the meme floating around that says "Have all the confidence of a 4 year old wearing a Batman shirt"? I have a picture of 4 year old me in a Batman shirt, Christmas 1966! I've been a fan all my life!
Of course I wasn't born when Batman came out in the 60s but watching Batman on syndication was absolutely great. I loved it
I wish Batman had gone more than 3 seasons.
RIP
My favourite line was the Penguin"Batman,Batgirl why I'm surrounded by Bats"
I never thought that Batman would become a documentary.
ESTUPENDO, SENSACIONAL.. LOS ORIGINAL BATMAN Y ROBIN..
¡GOOD GRACIAS DESDE ARGENTINA!! 🫴
As a kid in the UK
I remember going to see the the movie at alum rock Birmingham in the capital picture house on a Saturday morning matinee in the early 70s
Julie Newmar, still looks like a leading lady, and just sheer class......
It's interesting that this American lady has such a similar accent to Margaret Atwood, who grew up in rural Ontario and then in her university years, Toronto. They sound identical.
