  • Some confused wandering while I wait for snow to melt off the peaks. I check out Daybreak Peak in Rock Lake Provincial Park, make some Tikka Masala in the Ninja Foodi, and talk about my current camera gear. Hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy. Enjoy the video and see ya in the next one. I apologize if there are mid roll ads, I always set them to off, but they still get placed sometimes.

Depends on what type of depression.
It's a pretty insensitive thing to say. Not all depression is the same, you can't just lump it all together under one umbrella term of "depression".
Btw today is Mental Health Action Day.

What i notice from watching you over a year is that you are a lot more comfortable talking to the camera. When you are relaxed, your humor comes out naturally. You are probably still shy with people in real life but It is good to see you showing the real you when no one is around but a camera.

My dearest Foresty, first off, you're the damn bees knees. I'm sorry you're not feeling 100% these days; I get it. Watching this video, I had a huge AH-HA moment... Would you ever consider getting a doggo? Not only would be gaining a super loyal and loving companion, but a hiking buddy as well! As one who hasn't been feeling 100% for.... well as long as I can remember, I can say without a DOUBT, the addition of a four-legged buddy has absolutely been life-changing. They're free therapists, awesome snuggle buddies, security systems... I could go on. I think I talk to my dogs more than I do other humans. I know, you live in a van, but you're so active! Anyway, I really felt compelled to say what I said. YOU'RE AN AMAZING PERSON AND WE ALL JUST WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY, DUDE! xo from Ottawa! We have no mountains, but if you're ever in this neck of the woods, you can park in my driveway anytime!

Dogs are a disadvantage in grizzly country, they're presence is likely to annoy a bear that would otherwise have minded it's own business. A bear is certainly not afraid of a dog. The one exception is Karelian bear dogs from Europe. Otherwise, you're safer without one. Anyone who believes otherwise hasn't done the research.

your attitude towards the start of the video about smartphones making us soft brained is entirely true. it resonated with me so much that I went out and took a walk for the first time in months just to get away from the internet for a bit. that may not sound like a huge deal, but as an impaired person it can sometimes be a challenge to get even 1,000 steps in a day. your channel reminds me that there's never an excuse sufficient enough to justify slovenly behavior. thank you for the inspiration. I think there's probably almost no tips I could give you about vanlife, outdoor pursuits, cooking, life in general... But I do have one suggestion after watching you transfer food from cutting board to pot - get a bench scraper. I resisted for decades but now consider it essential. Great for a small space like a van. And it's by no means a uni-tasker bc it's a surprisingly good chopper too. I like Oxo but it doesn't matter.

pro tip: Add a foam windscreen to your windjammer (it is not called deadcat.) This will muffle the sound a little but add extra wind protection. Back in the day, I would sometimes do this with my Rycote baskets. also, check out Rycote's website. They may have some new options. WindTech also makes some dual-density foam windscreens. those are on the larger size but also very effective in high winds.

Thanks for the camera gear review. I also bought the Sony RX100M7 and I'm very happy with it ... it's not much bigger than my phone, which means I can carry it around all the time. And, of course, the best camera is one that you actually have with you when you need it!

Great respect to you Forsety for not getting a dog. I know that strong desire to have one, for me I want a staffy pit soo bad, but as a responsible person I know with the two I already have, one sick, adding another would not be wise. You have enough sense to know your living situation does not provide a good home life for a dog ... kudos to you. Maybe eventually a cat? They don't need much space or exercise and are pretty independent. You can also teach a cat to ride in a backpack and on a leash. My niece has a cat that thinks she's a dog and goes everywhere with her. Niece is very physically active too.
