Kinda takes me back to when the iPad was new. Nobody used it before, so the apps had to look ridiculously intuitive and therefore looked like real life objects. It was nice. Had a homey feel, before everything shifted to sharp edges, simplified icons, and flat colors. I wish they allowed you to select different aesthetics for the actual interface instead of just your wallpaper and stuff.
However, some apps are not meant to be represented by the icon. Like in this instance, Safari has a compass logo. Using a realistic icon would make users think it's a compass app instead of a web browser. It's actually counter-intuituve.

And besides the Compass app used to look goated too.

My point was this is a good ad model, since the creator can speak freely, which gives you a better understanding of what they actually think of the product, and also repetition makes it more likely for consumers to be drawn to it. It's genuinely good business practice, while usual ads are just soulless bureaucratic scripted bs, since all companies assume youtubers and streamers wouldn't do well, or say something bad, if not kept under lock and key.

Some huge advantages of simplified icons, which are often overlooked are: ability to have them as infinite scalable vectors, ability to easily animate foreground and background, ability to easily recolor (tinting), eligible on any resolution even super low ones (and your sponsors console demonstrates this perfectly), and if done right: easy to recognize. So I get some of the hate, some companies really go too lazy on their logos but there are a lot of advantages to simplified icons.
