    Edgar Davids...one from those golden players I loved Juve for in 90s and 00s
    Davids at Juventus dominated the midfield with his power and pace, earning him the nickname ‘The Pitbull’.
    Football in the '80s, '90s and early 2000s was plenty of defenders and defensive midfielders like Davids.
    They were the real reason why guys like Ronaldo Nazario, Batistuta, Signori or Shearer were not scoring 40 goals every single season, unlike nowadays when every year a new record is broken due to the ridiculous defending.
    People today say Ramos or Chiellini are the toughest guys in football... Back then, guys like them they were just normal defenders.

    • @JohanRalle
      @JohanRalle 11 дней назад +14

      EXACTLY!!! Defenders back in the days were absolute warriors units and DM'S were real defensive midfielders not freaking Deep laying play makers they werent as good on the ball but passing them was like trying to jump over a 7ft wall

      I tried to emulate Edgar Davids every time I played. He was the Pitbull. An absolute dog on the field. With an engine that never gave in. I still have the nickname Vindog now, 25 years after I stopped playing. If only I could have been a small percentage as influencial on the field as he was. He never gave up. That Dutch team he was part of was probably the best team not to win a Copa Mundial. Those Surinamese players just clicked so well for the Dutch national team. If only they could have accepted them. Still goes down as one of my favourite players ever, especially when he was at Juve with Del Piero.

    Edgar Davids tested positive for banned steroid nandrolone while playing for Juventus in 2001.
    The Dutchman had been expected to receive a 16-month ban, which would have seen him miss the 2002 World Cup, but he was eventually given a four-month suspension, reduced from five on appeal. Numerous others including Pep Guardiola, Frank DeBoer & Jaap Stam tested positive (aka were caught)
    Lest we forget, the game's four wealthiest leagues - in England, Italy, Spain and Germany - have more drug cheats than elsewhere because the world's biggest names play in them.
