- Hey everyone! Thanks for watching.
Yesterday, heaven gained a beautiful angel. John Prine passed due to complications from the Coronavirus here in the Nashville Vanderbilt University Medial center. John gave so many beautiful creations to this world, and his songs will live on forever.
I personally think John Prine is one of the best singer-songwriters, and I'm so blessed to have been able to be around the same time that he was. My first experience hearing his music was when I volunteered at the Ryman in college during Americana fest. I had never heard the song "In Spite of Ourselves" until John walked on stage during the awards show and sang this song with Iris, and it brought tears to my eyes. I wouldn't give that moment away for anything. Ever since then I've loved listening to his music, seeing him around town, and going to his shows. John will be missed, but his imprint in the music industry will remain and hopefully inspire us all to say what we mean, and to create unapologetically.

I love that young people appreciate the genius of John Prine. Bravo!
there’s something about hearing beautiful voices harmonizing that makes everything so magical
By far the best version on RUclips
This atmosphere... You're amazing Allison.

This was my favorite love song from the first time I heard John Print and Iris DeMent sing it 21 years ago. LOL
Allison does it justice. *applause*
'...swears like a sailor when she shaves her legs...' Classic Prine line. Missing him already. Best to you both from the UK.
Another great line - "She's been married so many times she has rice marks on her face." Wish I could remember the name of the song...
@@bonefishjimmy Better Off Without A Wife - Tom Waits.
Amazing song and songwriter. Can't believe I didn't find him earlier.
I heard about John Prine passing away in the news yesterday.
He will be missed.
Your tribute to him is wonderful.
Yes i heard too!😔😔😭😭
Thanks, Allison and John. That was great. You'll be missed, Mr. Prine.
I've always wondered how two singers can get through this song without breaking out in laughter when singing those oddball lyrics. I tried it at my nephew's wedding a few years back with my sister-in-law (she has a good voice) and we barely made it through. Created a lot of new John Prine fans that day! Big +++ to the late John Prine for writing this and to you two for your fine rendition.

You can see Allison almost bursting into laughter in several instances
I loved this. John Prine was a favorite
A wonderful tribute to John Prine. Prine was so wonderful at being able to beam images directly into our minds through his lyrics such that any video would be a poor substitute for his genius.
Seriously, Allison, you do a lot of good for an old man's heart. ;)
Thank you.
Keep singing. ;)
What a great tribute to Sir John Prine. Thank you so much Allison & John!
That was wonderful.....John would have loved it..... I know I did..... and how 'bout that Paris, Tx .... oh yeah
Love this song! "...your not perfect sport, and let me save you the suspense. This girl you met, she isn't perfect either. But the question is whether or not you're perfect for each other." -Sean, Good Will Hunting
Still crying but thank you for that wonderful tribute.
Thanks Allison and John, for this lovely tribute to John Prine. This is a change in your style Allison but not in your high quality. 🤩
Beautiful song. For some reason I haven't listened to very much John Prine but I do recognize great songwriting and I have nothing but plenty of time to do it in so I'll be listening a lot to John Prine in 2021 (better late than never)!!!!!

@@stevemp8606 To be honest, I was sceptical in the beginning, just because I'm such a big fan of Allisons sound, voice and her way with recording equipment, but you got me in the warmth of your performance! You seem fun, and I had a fun listening! :)
@@Drruuiipp Oh thats not me, just this pandemic brought things that had to be shared... see if we can get everyones algorithms going - some are still shooting for the moon (:
A lovely tribute to John.

Sooo beautiful. Thank you.
Always been one of my favorite songs.
2020's been a bitch of a year. Glad I stumbled across your music, you've got a hell of a voice. Hope you go far.
Cheers guys that was very beautiful I have never heard of John before but strangely enough I did read about his passing yesterday and said bless ya mate and today i see your post pop up. so will definitely check out his music.cheers
John does a song called "Sam Stone" that shouldn't be passed by. A sad but true story from the time he wrote it.
Gary Rogers,
"... from the time he wrote it."
... and, sadly, ever since. Timeless.
paddy dillon,
Be sure to not miss "Hello in There" and "Angel from Montgomery". There are also some good videos on youtube of interviews he has done over the years.
Another artist you might not have heard of is Eva Cassidy. If so, I would suggest that you give her versions of "Autumn Leaves" and "Songbird" a try for starters. (Apologies in advance for any loss of tears or heavy sadness you might experience when you learn her story, though they may be offset by the pleasure of hearing her singing.)
@@AJfanboy1 cheers gary
@@ArcoZakus cheers I listen to sam stone and loved it and will definitely check out your recommendations I love these truth best songs that tell a story like this if you haven't heard I would also suggest the white buffalo singing the Whistler a great number cheers guys. stay safe.
Exquisite vocal sound.
Beautiful tribute cover!!
Nice tribute, and your voices are very complementary.
Great version. Rest in peace, Joe Prine
Réal sweet. I’ve always loved this song.
