The song "Black Coffee" was written by Sonny Burke (based on the 1938 piece "What's Your Story Morning Glory" composed by Mary Lou Williams), the lyrics by Paul Francis Webster. The song was published in 1948 and was popularized by Sarah Vaughan in 1949!

Same here. I am in love with this young lady's voice! I have a serious hearing deficit that causes me much pain at times so I listen to certain voice tones to overcome that and she is right on the money. Absolutely wonderful and soothing to listen to such a talent. I started (somehow...not sure how or why) listening to Reina Del Cid then came across Josh Turner and then she came up and I just happened to click on the video. I instantly loved it! This girl has it all.

When a true talent dusts off an old standard like this it makes surfing You Tube worth the time. Black Coffee and "I've Been a Long Time Leavin'" are two prime examples that rise to the top. What a fresh new old adventure you and Josh have embarked upon. One can see how much fun you're having doing this. Go for it kids!

Your Talent is Incredible.. all the little voice inflections, and vibrato etc... you do them with such precision... and your Vocal range just blows me away at times.. just don't know how you can reach some of those low notes.. I just love your voice Allison and you are definitely a star in the making if that's what you want to be. You can sing in any style whether it be pop, country, blues or jazz. You have a definite presence when you are singing and have charisma running through you like Blackpool rock. You may not know what that means but it is indeed a compliment. Was surprised as I listened that song. My first thaught was it'll be a version from the Ike and Tina-, Beth Hart and Joe Bonnamassasong. Was a good misunderstanding. Allison has a good voice and a special style she dressed herselfe. No Mainstream Barbydoll.
