Hi Gary! I spent many years as a MS user, but have been on a Mac for about 5 years now and am still learning to completely utilize all areas of my Mac. Thank you so much for this video. Your step-by-step process helped me print just one small section of my Numbers spreadsheet. Appreciate your time and effort for creating these videos.
Gary - thanks yet again. This was the video I needed 4 years ago when I moved from Excel to Numbers. I print rarely but when I do I struggle and fiddle until I get some print output that will do. Work flow all over and frustrating...until now.
Amazing video, Gary! I've been using Excel forever but have recently begun using Numbers exclusively. The printing issues you mention here puzzled me greatly, but you've answered all my questions in one video! You're the best!
Thank you Gary, not only are you blessed as a brilliant teacher, but your Mac skills are ninja level, I've been using Mac's for 20+ years and I still learn something new from everyone one of your videos. :)
Hi Gary! Thank you for your reply. It makes absolute sense to work around the issue this way. Love your videos. You have a knack for explaining things so clearly. I'm hooked!
Thanks helpful, I still find it complicated unlike excel. I followed the step but one issue I got is I added a photo in my sheet but when I copy and go to preview the photo does not show.
So happy to have found your work and be a subscriber. Thank you. My never-ending issue with NUMBERS is how to center my printed tables when printing. This video caught my eye immediately in hopes of finally answering this question. In EXCEL I used the CENTER- Vertically or Horizontally all the time, printing tables for drug doses etc for posting in my clinic. I will try using the PREVIEW app to see if I can more easily CENTER my tables on the page. I tried grabbing tables (at the little round dot, upper left) in attempts to center the table on the page but this technique never seems to produce the printout that I expect. I guess I could always just us PAGES to create tables and use the ruler guides to print tables vertically or horizontally centered, just so curious why apple hasn’t made this a feature in Numbers. Thank you again.
Awesome video, Gary! I’ve used Numbers for several years, but you always show us new little tidbits. Love it! I especially appreciated the info on Preview. Would never have thought to use it. Thanks so much! 😃👏
Great video Gary! Thanks for explaining what the Numbers Help couldn't explain well or at all. I've been breaking my head to find how I can PRINT the actual column headings (ex. A, B, C, D...) along with the row heading numbers for presentation purposes so people can actually go to the cell I'm referring to during the presentation. How can this be done?
You can't. But you can put the letter in the header cell for each column (manually, or with CHAR(COLUMN()+64) ) and the number in the header cell for each row (manually or with ROW() ).
Thanks for your lessons - saved me from tearing the last of my hair out a couple of times now - one question though - is there a way to include the line numbers in a print out ?
Love this teaching - and I used the Quick Filter as soon as I saw this. Now, do you have a video on how to set up Printing presets in Numbers? I print several sheets at a time within a File, and have to manually re-do everything from "Zoom" to "Print All Sheets" to "Continue Numbering" every time I run a new job.
@@macmost Thanks. That is a feature I would really use in Numbers. I also would love to know how to set the same parameters (margins, footer text, Zoom level etc.) for all documents in the same file.
The apple Automater might be able to do that. Kind of like recording a macro of all the different steps you take and then recall them when you need to do this process again. Hope this is of any help.
Thank you Gary for your hints. I’m working on a numbers file with many tables and I have to design it also to make an output only of a part of this stuff.
Hi, thanks for your tutorials. I have a table that I use everyday for statistics. How can I take this sheet and print it out for everyday of the month without having to manually change the date for every day. Is there a way to print the sheet like 30 times but only have the date in the corner to change with every sheet that comes out? Or can I multiply the sheet within the document but the date will increase? Thanks in advance for some good tips on that.
Hi Gary! Great video as usual, thanks! It seems that copying from numbers and pasting in preview doesn't work when a filter is applied... also, i have a spreadsheet with 4 tabs and I can't find a way to create a pdf with one selected tab only. It exports as a pdf with all 4 tabs, creating 4 different pdf pages. I then have to open preview and manually delete the unwanted pages. am I doing something wrong? thanks again!
By tabs, I assume you mean Sheets, right? Use File, Print and then the PDF button. Printing allows you to select All Sheets or just the one you are viewing. This may also solve your filters problem.
HI Gary, your tutorial works although it doesn't show any of the the images when i copy and paste to viewer i need to see the images without having to have them missing or shifted. any suggestions ? Thank you
If those addresses are in your Contacts app, then use that. It has that built in. Otherwise, you'll need to create or find a template in Pages to do it. No quick way.
curious if there's a simple way to just print to one page that doesnt require modifying the actual spreadsheet? I am not seeing any obvious way to this
@@macmost yes - in a case where you want to print out a sheet on one page - the zoom does work although I am still ending up with an extra page for some reason - I did what you suggested with preview and just did a screenshot, which did the trick. I was thinking there would be some option where you could just select "fit to single page"
Honestly by now they can simply fix the issue. I tried doing what you said, but then my photos in the excel sheet didn't print. Completely wasted my time (not you..using Numbers instead of Excel)
Do you mean center the contents of a sheet on a page? I don't think you can right from Numbers. But if you use this technique you can: ruclips.net/video/YVxLH5Ps9xA/видео.html
Not that one sir I want that line in apple numbers which comes in excel sheet indicating that our A4 page is only upto 7 colums and 26 raws so that we can resize our page exactly
😂 I guess they have invented so much time to build the Numbers program , not quite understanding why we have to go through all this crap in order to print .

Great solutions. Transitioning from Excel is not intuitive, so your videos are very helpful!

Finally a super easy practical solution to this problem. Great!!! Many thanks, Gary!!
Thank you Gary for teaching us Numbers 🙏

Thank you for all the helpful information. Question: Is there a way to hide a complete sheet when exporting, then un-hide later ?

If you mean the print options before you get to the standard print dialog, no I don't know of a way to get it to remember.

What a legend. So easy. Thanks man.

Is this a form you fill out? Why not leave the date blank and fill that out too. Then you can get them copied and save your printer.

thank you, this was a really helpful video. may I ask what application you use to show the keystrokes?
Screenflow. macmost.com/what-i-use
Thank you for this video. However the Preview-File-New from Clipboard is not available for selection. Can you explain what I might be doing wrong?
Do you have something in the clipboard, like part of an image of PDF? Otherwise, it won't appear.
Thank you very much Gary
HI Gary, your tutorial works although it doesn't show any of the the images when i copy and paste to viewer i need to see the images without having to have them missing or shifted. any suggestions ? Thank you
Sorry, not sure what you mean.
Can Numbers print address-labels - or does Pages have to be involved in some way?
If those addresses are in your Contacts app, then use that. It has that built in. Otherwise, you'll need to create or find a template in Pages to do it. No quick way.
Thank you!
LIFESAVER. !!
How can I accurately centre the spread sheet on the printed page
This doesn't work in Sonoma. "New from Clipboard" is greyed out in preview.
It still works. What, exactly, did you copy just before trying?
How to print forms in numbers ? Are there any strategies in printing all the categories at once - forms, Numbers.
Sorry, I don't know what you are asking.
Gary how to print couple of spredsheets, I only have 2 options "this sheet" and "all sheets"
Print sheet by sheet or use the techniques in this video to work with the PDF in Preview afterward.
Thank U 😊
So clever!
When I launch preview, it prompts me with a file selection to open. it doesn't let me create "new from clipboard"
You can just ignore the File Open dialog and choose File, New From Clipboard.
Thank you for this!!!:)
How can you print the row numbers?
curious if there's a simple way to just print to one page that doesnt require modifying the actual spreadsheet? I am not seeing any obvious way to this
Print everything to one page? A whole sheet? You would just print and then adjust the zoom percentage until it all fits.
@@macmost yes - in a case where you want to print out a sheet on one page - the zoom does work although I am still ending up with an extra page for some reason - I did what you suggested with preview and just did a screenshot, which did the trick. Awesome!
So can we insert page breaks?
No. Since Numbers uses Tables on Sheets, not just one big table like Excel, page breaks don't make sense. Thus, the strategies in this video.
@@macmost Drats! Thank you so much for your prompt reply 😊

how to print the row numbers along with the table?
There is no option to do that. Put the information you need in the header row or column so it is visible when you print.
Solved a problem with a handy work-around, but jeebus, Numbers is too janky for printing, very disappointing.
genius
how to set page margin
Use File, Print. Then in the list of options that appear on the right, it is near the bottom.
Not that one sir
I want that line in apple numbers which comes in excel sheet indicating that our A4 page is only upto 7 colums and 26 raws so that we can resize our page exactly
@@sushilverma2634 So you don't want margins, you want to specify exactly what gets printed. I suggest some things in this video for that.
very good but talking too fast for me. thank you
😲

apple is SO Pathetic ! Remember Appleworks ? that was awesome, now our "modern" system you have to do so many tricks to get something printed,
