Did you know, Pakistan almost had taken Lakshadweep and made it a part of Pakistan?
In 1947 the Lakshadweep islands still remained undeclared for either Pakistan or India following partition.
Pakistan actually started the mission to claim Lakshadweep which was and still is a majority Islamic (93% Sunni Muslim) island even before India.
But, thanks to the Iron Man of India, Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who took action without waiting for Nehru and ordered the Indian Navy to take control of the island immediately from Travancore (todays Kerala). The Navy reached and we were able to secure the island in fishing boats and hoist the Indian flag on Lakshadweep just hours before the Pakistanis.
Thank to Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the heroic efforts of our brave Navy men.

As a neighbour country of maldives we have supported them alot. whether it is related to water, medicine, safety, business, etc. and after doing all these what we are getting insult from their ruling government people. it is not acceptable at all. We indians are kind hearted people whenever our neighbour asked for help we managed to help them without seeing whether we are getting profit or not (we donated things to the country in need/crisis)but we don't tolerate this kind of bullshit from any country. we have our own self respect. 10:25 Maldives is not an elite destination from India. Even middle class people travel there with ease. It has become a common tourist spot for many indians for honeymoon, parties and events. If middle class people boycott Maldives, thats the majority of tourists that Maldives is losing.
Talking about Elite class, Maldives is not a destination for them. There are much more beautiful places to visit. Maldives has only gained popularity because of its close proximity to India and because of cheaper expense compared to Mauritius and Seychelles.
If most tourists from friendly countries like Russia, UK etc. going to Maldives will come to Lakshadweep for same fun vacation, it will become tourist heaven like Kashmir. :-)))
