Delbert McClinton and Austin City Limits, are the most enduring and wonderful piece of American music, and there's lots of those. Not so much now, but then. An era now gone, but not forgotten, for sure. Immortalized, thank you internet.
Have never understood why this man isn't a Mega Super Star. I know he has been very successful BUT this man is a F'ing Genius and has written all sorts of incredible tunes for years! I first saw Delbert at the Sundown West in Ruston, Louisiana while attending LA Tech U. in the mid-70's. They would turn the pool tables on their sides and lean 'em up against the wall. Great music and great times. We have seen him all over the south in the past 40 years. Still dig the music.

I met him after a couple of Delbert's shows, back in the day. A very nice guy, and fun to talk with. He was always fun to watch, because he was a very smooth drummer, but had great powerful drum fills, and a great hi-hat technique. He remains one of my all time favorite funky drummers! I'm glad that you enjoy his playing also !! 🥁🤔😃😄

Thanks for uploading this and 'B-movie Boxcar.' Wish this entire concert was available for download or on DVD. One of the best live performances ever recorded IMO. Killer bass and backing vocals are compliments of Tim Loftin, one of my all-time favorite bass players.
WHen I first got to Texas in 1988, my parents and I went down to West End in Dallas and there was Delbert and his band playing. I didn't know about him at all. What an introduction. I sat in front of Don Wise and marveled at his tone and sound. I'm still not the best rock sax player, but he still is.

At one time, in Okc, Ok - I worked with Don Wise along with John and Tammy Leen ...Don not only played amazing sax ...but he was a darned nice guy ...we worked together for close to a year. We still communicate from time to time.
Don retired about 10 years ago from the road. Delbert retired last year too. Don has some great CDs still available ob www.delbert.com Trust me on that.

Saw him at the Gurten festival in Bern in 1989. An absolutely mind blowing performance by him and the band. Simply sensational.
