Jesus also uses the term to describe himself in the New Testament. In some ways, he uses it to show his solidarity with humanity, including that in becoming truly man he needs rest (Matt. 8:20) and also eats and drinks (Luke 7:34).
It is also used as a term for the prophesied Messiah (Dan. 7:13-14; see 7:1-28) and one who looks for a divine Messiah in glory at that. Jesus conveys that he is the fulfillment of this verse, “the son of man” (emphasis added), clearly identifying with this prophetic figure (Matt. 19:28, 24:30, 25:31). He also uses this title elsewhere to illustrate he has divine prerogatives, including the authority to forgive sins (Mark 2:10), suspend the Sabbath (Mark 2:28), judge men (John 5:27), and even provide eternal life through the our consuming his flesh (John 6:53-54).

I love the series The Chosen. What a special way to portray the person of Jesus. Jesus was referred to as , " the son of man " 88 times in the New testament. The Jewish men, rabbis, scholars would know what Jesus meant when he said that. They studies the Torah . They studied prophecies. They were waiting and still are waiting for the Messiah. 93 times Ezekiel mentioned the Son of man as the Messiah. Jesus was proclaiming to be the Messiah and proclaiming to be God.

The situations and the context are the same as in our actual time. Jesus Christ found a world filled with sickness, poverty, corruption and sin as it is today. And Jesus is still with us until the end of time as he promised, helping out their little sheep. What a blessing to still have him in the Spirit. I am so grateful.

I enjoy your reactions to these videos. I wanted to pass something on that I learned in a course I took that was taught by Dr. Gary Habermas. If you don't know who he is, I recommend googling him.
You asked about Son of Man, and that's such a crucial point of theology and doctrine in Christianity that I wanted to say something. In a course on the resurrection that Dr. Habermas teaches, he discusses biblical references to “Son of Man”. It's used in three different ways in the Bible.
    1. The Book of Psalms talks about "Son of Man" and those verses refer to “human beings.”
    2. Ezekiel talks about "Son of Man" - and those verses refer to a prophetic figure.
    3. However, the one Jesus plugs into is Daniel 7:13-14, “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.”
    • Daniel 7 speaks of a preexistent divine figure who is not the Father. (He is sent by the Father -- by the “Ancient of Days”)
As Dr. Gary Habermas teaches throughout the course, Son of Man can mean a variety of things, but in the Old Testament, only Daniel 7:13-14 has what critics say is a pre-existent, divine figure. He’s not God the Father because in the context He’s sent by the Ancient of Days. He’s sent by the Ancient of Days to earth to set up God’s kingdom. There are Jewish publications around the time of Jesus, or approximately the first century A.D., that tell us what the Jews of Jesus’s day believed. They believed the Son of Man was a divine figure who could accept worship and share God’s throne. When the Jews of Jesus's day heard Jesus call Himself the "Son of Man", they heard blasphemy. They heard Him claiming that He could accept worship and share God's throne.
So, those sources, taken along with Daniel 7:13-14, tell you what the Jews had on their mind when they heard Jesus use the lofty title, "Son of Man'. But how do we know Jesus really meant "Son of Man" that way and not the "mere man" usage in the book of Psalms? It’s because twice in Jesus’s ministry He paraphrases Daniel 7:13-14 when He talks about Himself. So, Jesus is saying in essence: you’ve got mere man, you’ve got prophetic figure, and you’ve got this enigmatic figure called the Son of Man. That’s the one I’m referring to. Those verses are the ones Jesus paraphrases.
By the way, do you know where one of them is? It’s Jesus before the High Priest in Mark 14. It’s the one where Jesus is coming on the clouds and seated at the right hand of God. That is Daniel 7. So when Jesus plugs into that one, He plugs into the one that accepts worship and shares God’s throne and even says so to the High Priest. At that point, the High Priest tears his clothes and yells "blasphemy".
First Century Jewish Publications Illuminate the “Son of Man’ Figure in Daniel 7:
    • In works like 1 Enoch & 4 Ezra: The “Son of Man" accepts worship and shares God’s throne.
In Jesus's trial, the death blow was Jesus calling Himself the Son of Man. Son of God was bad enough, but when he claimed to be the Son of Man, and claimed He would "come on the clouds", He had committed blasphemy. In Jewish teaching, only Jehovah God comes on the clouds. Jesus claimed to be seated on God’s throne, and when He claimed that, the verdict was in. Kill him. He'd just claimed to share God's throne by claiming to be Son of Man. (And Son of Man was Jesus's favorite title for Himself.) With it He claims to be a pre-existent, divine figure who will one day come on the clouds like Jehovah, share God's throne, and accept worship. A lot of people know that Jesus called Himself the Son of Man, but they don't realize the full significance of what that meant. They think He was just claiming to be a man when in reality, He was claiming to be divine.

Leo I watched a bit last night with you but am continuing now. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED Nicodemus' role in this. The Sanhindrin and Pharisees were the spiritual police of that day and they had the power of people using the Law of God but they made the Law their God and that is why Jesus called them snakes. God gave us all these rules and laws only to show us we can never match up, like a mirror it shows all your flaws. Jesus came to give us RELATIONSHIP with God directly. Nicodemus is so special because he was open and did not make Law his God but truly wanted to know God and so he is open and can see the Bible unveils Jesus so we can find Him and through Him, have RELATIONSHIP with God and The Holy Spirit. Your relationship is as private and sacred as a marriage and so personal that He will speak from outside of time, use a phone and have it speak to you directly and help you find the only true God and love Him as He loves you, personally and by name. @@helenpetersen447 your welcome you seem like a lovely person 🙂who do you think Jesus was though? I mean your correct in saying he was a real person there is a lot of evidence not just in the Bible but other documents which speak of him and his death. You see what's interesting about jesus thou is he's one of the few people in all history who actually called himself God all the things that Jesus said show that he was certainly no ordinary man. With all the claims he made there's actually only three options for who he was 1. He was a deceiver who deceived people. 2. he was a lunatic who didn't know what he was saying (however if that were the case why would he have been killed) or 3. He was who he said he was. You see just him being a good teacher or a good person isn't an option if that was all he was he would not have been so hated even today he's still hated. So you see according to his claims there's only three options of who he was. Hope that helps you somewhat. When Jesus referred to himself as “The Son of Man”, he was emphasizing his humanity (that he was a man, but also the son of a man), but was also referencing a prophecy about the Messiah, thereby linking himself to him. (Or you can substitute “this True Man”.) Therefore, he was telling the Pharisee (“the religious man”), that even though he was only a man, he had the authority to forgive sins and to prove he had authority, he healed the paralyzed man. This went against everything the rabbi had ever thought, read, studied or known. That is why the Pharisee thought he was blasphemous. What he didn’t know and what Jesus wasn’t ready to reveal to them yet, was that he was also the son of God and that his authority came from God. Perhaps he knew it wasn’t time to reveal that. He only said what he heard the Father saying and only did what he saw the Father doing. Nicodemus though, knows the scriptures very well and is starting to put the pieces (scriptures) together in realizing that Jesus may be the Messiah that so many prophets in the Torah, had prophesied about. Not only that but, he was getting on in years and he probably, secretly yearned to see the Messiah before he died.
I loved watching your reaction to this episode! (It’s the first video of yours, watching these episodes, that I have seen.) Hey! I hope this comment will clear everything to you about the confusion regarding "son of man". So there was this prophet long before Jesus came named Daniel who has a crazy spiritual experience and saw a vision of God's Glory. While he's expecting to see something he's never heard of (you know cause it's God and you don't know what to expect to see), he sees a glorious human figure. Up until this point this dude was seeing all crazy things and now suddenly he sees a glorious human figure, one just like "the son of man" (as in just like human) . It was just his way of saying that what he saw looked like a human being. This is the title that Jesus uses to refer himself to as sometimes (suggesting "im the same dude Daniel saw) and it pisses the Pharisees off big time.
You'll get a clear picture of you read the vision in Daniel 7:13 onwards.

Hey bro, i just want to clarify on the Nicodemus and student arguement. Nicodemus at this time was pointing out that God can do new things apart from what He has done in the Old Testament.. meaning He has not learned Jesus's ways yet and this is what Nico was actually longing for. The teachings of Jesus that was approved also by God the Father bec Jesus was sent by God. So after the New Testament which Jesus gave as solid teaching, and final Word until His second coming, there are no other teachings can bring eternal life than His. I hope u get the point well.. bec, thinking that God is still open to new interpretations upto now is not His message thru Christ. When we think against this truth, this opens up to agnosticim like New Age beliefs etc

@@LeonardoTorresMusic When Jesus references himself as the "son of man" he is saying that he is equal to God..fully God and fully man.
Only God has the authority and power to heal the sick and to forgive sins. Jesus has that authority and power because he is God.
Because of his claims as the son of man, ( God) the Jewish leaders wanted to kill him. They said he was a liar and a blasphemer.
Which ultimately was the charge they used to have him crucified.
When Jesus refers to "the father", or, "my father", he is speaking of the God head of the trinity while acknowledging himself also as man.
The trinity is : God the father--
God the son-- God the holy spirit.

1:12:13 Jesus was proving himself to be equal to God because he was God in flesh yet living among his creation as man. He was blowing the minds of the religious leaders because only God can forgive sins. Then he followed it up with the miracle.
Also it is in scripture Jesus knew the thoughts of the Pharisees and that's what he was doing minutes before and why that Pharisee looked stunned.

People that don’t have Jesus can’t forgive sins, but people that have Jesus can forgive and remit people’s sins. They still have to accept the savior though to be saved. The Bible clearly shows us in multiple scriptures that we can forgive others sins like Jesus did.

    God the father- creator.
God the son of man-incarnate. Jesus born of a Virgin. The seed of woman promised in Genesis. As we all know that woman has no seed but the seed was from the Holy Spirit into Mary’s womb.
That’s God the son of man. So that’s what Jesus meant by “the son of man”.
And God the spirit- God. In spirit form. At work in us here on earth. The one who has been calling you Leo. He’s been telling you every night that he loves you and wants you. He’s been drawing you near.
That’s the trinity explained in the shortest form. 💗

The name son of man was a way for Jesus to use a title and say who he was without alerting people who didn’t know prophecy who he was. But Pharisees knew scripture.
No we do not have the ability to forgive sins. We have the ability to forgive other people who trespass against us but not their sin for doing so. Only God can do that.
That’s why Jesus was killed for blasphemy. He called himself God in this scene and many others. They didn’t like that at all. Book of John tells these stories (Matthew mark Luke does too).

10:18- He just described the dynamic of cancel culture.
24:20- In the Bible, we don't know of the leper's relatives. All we know is he believed that Jesus can heal him and his faith. Hell, we don't even know the leper's name. That's something that the writers added to boost the Bible even more and I don't mind.
24:44- Even Tamar's presence is made up, but she is a Gentile and Jesus(God) is whole purpose is uniting all Jews and Gentiles as one. There's several in Jesus' lineage of people who were Gentiles and Jew which gives a huge hint about God.
43:18- No, this is not in the Bible however, this helps it because there are people even now who misinterpret scripture like Shumel.
47:25- That's not a parable, it's the conversation Jesus had with the Samaritan woman at the well.
56:49- That's what faith looks like.
1:00:14- Jesus is God in human form. It says it in Isaiah his first name is Immanuel, of course he had to go by Jesus while he was here on earth with us. It would've given him away too soon before he got to finish doing what he needed to do.
1:01:13- Instead of relying on other people, how about read God's word for yourself and learn from him personally.
1:07:17- Back in 2022, I had an out of body experience and I saw Jesus. He smiled at me like that. I have had several encounters like that this year they remind me of how much I'm loved and Jesus is with me.

Hi Leo, I'm not sure if someone else shared this with you already, but here's a short text that sheds light on the phrase "the Son of Man." The Jews would have been familiar with this scripture from Daniel 7:13:
"I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him."
It was a phrase Jesus used for Himself, and the Ancient of days refers to God the Father. He was both the Son of man and the Son of God, so it reflects Him being on earth as the Messiah, both fully man and fully God. Also it's not plural, so just in that way it is clear that He is referring to one, Himself, not all "sons of man." Hope that helps 😊

I believe this is because we have been trained since birth by this Matrix (evil system) not to trust God or ourselves. The matrix trains us to trust heard mentality over our Creator, especially if it goes against the grain. When a person gives themselves solely to Jesus, that person begins to trust themselves again as they are being lead by God.....at least that is what happened to me.

Also, to answer your question, no. We as human beings cannot forgive sins. There is nothing we can do to get rid of our sins, we are dead in them. We cannot do any good deed to get rid of them, it's impossible. Only Christ, being called the son of man and the son of God can forgive sins. The main reason He came to earth was to die for the sins of the world, which He had planned all along. Only by Christ's sacrifice, and our faith and belief in Him, and what he did for us, can then allow that sacrifice to apply to us. That is pretty much salvation. Born again is what happens pretty much instantaneously after salvation. We get different desires, the fruits of the spirit, a desire for God, and a desire to fight sin.

@@LeonardoTorresMusic Keep in mind that everything I have said and am about to say is coming from a place of love and care. I want to be soft and sensitive with this. I'll try my best but keep in mind I am not Christ, no one is. So if at the end of this, you end up not liking me or thinking I am pushy or not a good Christian, that's fine, I'm okay with that, and mean that lovingly and sincerely. I too sometimes refer to God as the great spirit given my native background. After all that's what He is, not a man, but a spirit. I agree that with God all things are possible, something the pharisees didn't recognize. However, just because God can do anything, doesn't mean He will. God can stop all suffering on earth now, but He won't. God, through the previous scriptures revealed things about Himself. If anybody comes along and brings "New Revelation" that contradicts the old then it's not from God. The specific conversation that Nico had with his disciple was about Judaism. Judaism, like Christians, always believed there was only one God. Jesus seemed to have threatened that understanding. However, the Trinity, being hinted at in previous scripture, does not contradict the one God. Three in one, that and Christ were the things that Nico meant when he said "what if God is more strange, amazing, and mysterious than we could know". Christians still hold to this today as part of our eternity with God is endlessly knowing more about Him. Jesus entire ministry, all of His teachings and messages ever. They could all be summed up in two things. 1. To love God more than anything. 2. To love your neighbor as yourself. However, since Christ is God, He has the highest of standards. This will be made more visible as the show goes on. In some way shape or form, all of humanity has broken both of these summarized commands. As you saw in the last episode. The Pharisees said only God can forgive sins. That is true, no matter what. Jesus forgave the mans sins and healed him. No, it did not mean since were all human we can forgive our own sins, and it did not mean if we do something right or act good, God will forgive us. Ancient Egypt brought the modern concept of gods weighing the good and the bad. Doing a good deed doesn't take away the bad, only justice. Christ, as you will see much later on in the show, paid that judgement for us. Christ says, as you will see later on, no one can come to the Father, except through me. Meaning no one can have a relationship with God except through Christ and no one can be saved without Christ. The last thing I'm going to say. If being a good person got you into heaven and forgave your actions. If following any morally right religion got you to heaven, if simply having your good out way your bad got you into heaven. Then Christ dying on the cross was pointless and His entire coming, ministry, and life, was a waist of time. Buddha taught how to be good and he didn't have to die for it. I'm not forcing anything, if anything I said bothered you, please forgive me. I'm not God and I don't want anything I said to come off as unloving or arrogant, but this the truth. The truth that Christ taught and that you will see throughout the show. I love you, and God bless

And when we experience something or see something for ourselves even if its in Faith and what God has done in our life. We tend to doubt ourselves, even if we have seen it. You still feel, that its needed to seek answers from some one else. It clearly shows in your heart that you are already doubting what you just saw or experienced and won't take it for what it really is. If you watch yourself in this video, your blown away by the comment that was made in the show, that you yet still seek answers from others. Even though you know what was said you heard it clearly, but you still doubt yourself... Its just that simple, and yet we Humans make it harder then it really is. You are in battle with yourself. Only The Lord Jesus Christ can save you from yourself and the way your thinking. I hope that makes sense.

I don't know if anybody pointed out the extreme reaction to the leper. Leprosy was an awful way to die. Your nerve endings die and you literally start peeling. Because of this and the fact that leprosy took a long time to actually kill someone, they were sent away from society and formed "leper colonies". If they had a need to cross paths with others they were told to shout unclean to the passerby's. Leviticus (the old testament) even has laws under which the Jewish society was to treat people with leprosy. The importance of this healing was two fold. 1. It showed how Jesus was there to full fill the old law. The old testament had a lot of rules in which the Jewish people had to live to be considered clean. he broke the law by touching the leper. By fulling the law, he is opening the door of salvation beyond the Jewish people (a lot more theology there then a short answer can describe). 2. healing the leper is an allegory of how Christ has come to save us from sin. Like a leper, when we are living with sin we are casted away from god but only threw Christ can we be healed.

The "son of man" was a title used in the Old Testament when God spoke His message to the prophet Ezekiel in the book of Ezekiel. And when used, especially in one of the four New Testament gospels, it was rendered there with a capital "Son of Man", identifying this particular "Son" is Jesus....God Almighty made incarnate, in the flesh born of a woman (Mary). Thus, Jesus was both "Son of Man" AND "Son of God". And, while we can and should forgive one another, only Jesus had the Authorities on earth to "forgive sins".... And later, in the New Testament, we then read that Jesus would later pass on this Authority to His disciples as they went spreading the gospel, the Good News of Jesus Christ and His Salvation won on the Cross. Not that we or the Disciples can take away sins in the way Jesus did. We can "let go" of offenses against us...that is forgiveness one for another; Jesus forgives ETERNALLY, since He removes our sins from the 'memory' of God and thereby takes the final Judgement against ALL sin in His Death paid for on OUR behalf. Now, as many as will repent and believe, who CHOOSE to surrender their own will and trust God has made a Way for us to enter the Eternal Presence of God, God receives them now and forever into Eternity 🙏

Regarding the "you don't even listening to yourself" scene: It's so important to stay true to what the holy spirit confirms in your heart. If you act against your conscience by either doubting or openly refusing - the holy spirit - who is the spirit of truth - cannot convince you and bring you to repentance.
