@@jordancooney6817😂😂😂 no that’s wrong. He did t have temptation to sin. His biggest temptation was not destroying everyone after pouring his heart out to everyone. His tempter was the devil himself tempting him to just show everyone who he was instead of going through with being the sacrifice. His temptation was to not reveal himself in all his glory. Cuz he easily could have said screw y’all , I’m god come down and this is how you treat me. Damn all of you and watch me ascend to my glory without your salvation.

    • AD actually means anno domini, not after death 😂 It’s supposed to mean “the year of our Lord!” It refers to the period he was born into our world and our time starts there.
    • 40 days 40 nights happens after Jesus’ baptism (by John the Baptist)! And it’s the around same time that he received his first couple of apostles, which left John the Baptist to follow him instead. That is right about the time Jesus began his ministry.
    • Jesus was praying in the beginning because it’s something he did all the time! Jesus often escaped into secluded areas to pray fervently in private to the Father for strength and just to have communion. This is an example we Christians are given to follow, in order to stay connected and fulfilled with the Lord.
    • washing someone else’s feet WAS huge in scripture and that time! Jesus says in the gospel of John that if a man takes a bath, he is entirely clean except for his feet! It is the only thing left to be cleaned and will always need to be cleaned because the moment you finished washing, you walk around and get them dirty! So washing someone else’s feet will always be a humbling job (John 13:1-17). The point is that Jesus came to serve, not to be served (Mark 10:45). He showed his servant-hood to mankind and the Father, by submitting to the will of the Father and dying for mankind!
    • Jesus’ god-hood was probably the reason he sensed the two children behind the bushes but you never know 😂
    • He asked the kids if they knew how to pray the “shema” (full title is “Shema Yisrael”) and it is a prayer that came from the words of Moses, who spoke a message from God, and lays out a lot of important things. It is basically a Declaration of Belief. It is a Jewish prayer, from the words of Moses and it is an announcement to Israel and the name basically means “Hear, O Israel...” (from the beginning of the prayer and verse). It is Deuteronomy 6:4!!
    - I like how you pointed out how in this series and in the Bible, Jesus very carefully and patiently lived in his human state. He went through the effort to make the fire and made and ate and slept like the rest of us! You mentioned, and I’m not going to hold this against you, it was kind of just a point you were trying to make, but you mentioned that Jesus didn’t have his spiritual powers on Earth, and that he could have just sparked a fire easily but he didn’t, and I just wanted to expand on that. There are about 2 or 3 reasons why Jesus didn’t show off his power all of the time.
1 - was that by using his godly power to do unnatural things a regular human could not do, just to get through daily life, it would be like overriding his human restrictions. Doing these miracles outside of the context of public ministry, would be a “misplacement” of his God-abilities as a human. The times that Jesus showed his glory to mankind were completely justified by the fact that they were used to bring people to him, so it’s important that we take the moments where he did not use his power, because it makes it all the more apparent how much he wanted to experience this life right alongside with us. The big point of him coming here was to make himself lower, voluntarily, and speak heart to heart, to the people of Israel and relate to humanity. So by doing something simple like making fire if he has all he needs to make a fire, respects the plan that the Father made for him to come to Earth and relate to and ultimately save humanity, not unnecessarily making things easier. I will expand more on the “plan of the Father” in the next point!
2 - When the Son came down to Earth, his job was to obey and stick to his Father’s plan to save humanity. The Son did this willingly out of love for the Father and love for man, and most importantly it was done to bring glory to the Godhead: Father, Spirit, and Son. By coming to Earth and dying for our sins, Jesus showed his love for us, an unconditional love, seeing that he died and took the punishment of death for us even when we were sinning. And simultaneously, by coming to Earth and successfully cleansing us of our sins with his shed blood, he showed obedience and love for the Father by agreeing to lower himself to the state of man in agreement to be a working part of His plan. And through this, he gave glory to the Father by choosing to be the HERO in the ingenious, and successful plan which the Father had made and the Son had been absolutely necessary for! The Spirit was glorified by Jesus’s public recognition, multiple times, of the power and role of the Holy Spirit. It was THROUGH the work of the Holy Spirit that Jesus was conceived into this world in Mary’s womb. And it is ONLY by the MARK of the Holy Spirit residing in your soul that you get your ticket to the Father and eternal life! And this receiving of the Holy Spirit and seal of eternal salvation which the Holy Spirit is, is only provided through accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord, our God, and our Savior! See how Jesus simultaneously gives glory to the Spirit and to himself? Crazy. Jesus even explains in the gospel of Matthew to the Pharisees and the public, that the ONE UNFORGIVABLE SIN is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit! He says in Matthew 12:32, “Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will NOT be forgiven, either in this age or the age to come.” Jesus clearly gives glory to the Spirit here and commands reverence for him in countless other places, because the Holy Spirit is the one behind the curtain whom turns all the gears and shifts all the pedals, and is the tunnel in which salvation shoots out of :)
~ You can think of God as the one at the top of the tunnel, the tunnel being the Holy Spirit, and what slides down is the Father’s blessing, salvation, love, forgiveness, family, ALL the good stuff XD. But at the end of the tunnel is a door! And that door is the Son Jesus Christ. It is only though him and the Holy Spirit that the blessings from God can come down, and it is only through Him and the Holy Spirit that you can get to the Father, whom is waiting at the top for us :) ~
3 - if you remember, Jesus mentions many times that “the Father is greater than I am” or things such as, “no one knows about that day and hour [of judgement], not even the ANGELS IN HEAVEN, nor the SON, but only the FATHER.”
He was saying this because in his human state, the god-knowledge that he had was only the amount given to him by the Father. There’s kind of a hierarchy concerning the Father, incarnate Son, and Holy Spirit because of their different roles. **The Father CREATES the plan, the Son Jesus Christ IMPLEMENTS the plan, and the Holy Spirit EXECUTES the plan!** (i hope that makes any kind of sense to y’all lol).
So when Jesus said all these things, he was explaining how certain abilities are withheld at certain times because of the lack of necessity and other times, they were allowed to be shone through his being because of the affects they would ultimately have on the people around him (primarily all of humanity) and all in all to give glory to God! Which is Father, Spirit, and Son!
    My very last thing......
I really appreciate your story about you, your mother, and your step-father, Leonardo. It really touched me. I believe the Holy Spirit really did move in you and give you the success and bravery Leo! If I could say this to your younger self, I would say I was proud and to you right now, I want to tell you God is STILL right by your side giving you the power you need to fight your battles smartly and with godly love! So glad this spoke deeply to you and I pray that you always remember the Lord WILL pay back those who sin against him and hurt His people and he is just as faithful to love, and give strength to, and have compassion for His own people when he sees that their strength is gone :) [deuteronomy 32:36 if you’d like this verse!]
Blessings to you all from SoCal!!

This show for me embodies the Jesus I met when I was a very little girl and who I believed was the Savior when I was old enough to understand that concept. Often it seems people that make movies about Jesus focus on the God part of him. They never talk about the humanity and the compassion and how much love he had for people that is all through the gospel and the New Testament. It's kind of like they want to scare people into believing that he was the son of God when his message was that God loved the world so much he said his only begotten son and whoever believes in him would not perish. That's the only requirement that was set down for salvation is belief that Jesus is God's son and he died for our sins. Religion tries to complicate it. It's supposed to be the faith like a child has. Like how much joy a child has on Christmas morning! They don't know how much work went into their parents getting presents under the tree or decorating and making everything look festive to make us feel a sense of joy. They just accept it without worrying about everything else. Like how a child can believe in Santa Claus without having any doubts even though they've never seen him. We're supposed to look at everything that pointed to Jesus being the Messiah and understand it was a gift when he gave up his life for all of us and accept that gift with childlike faith. We're not supposed to turn into a bunch of Pharisees and go around pointing fingers at everybody and saying how much better we are. There's a very personal thing between a Believer and Jesus When You Believe on him and he is very gentle and very loving having been human himself and gone through everything that we go through yet he didn't sin because he was also the son of God. There is no way we can come to God because of our inability to never sin and it was Lucifer that brought sin to man. And of course we acted on it even though we've been warned not to do that thing because then we would die. God didn't make us that way and he set out to find a way to save us so that we wouldn't keep on dying and suffering when we accept forgiveness of our sins through his son. It's going to be really cool to have bodies that don't get sick and die once that time comes. But we're supposed to be gentle and kind and loving of everybody even our enemies and pray for them. I can't give away spoilers so I have to stop talking. But I love the way they portray Jesus in this show! Can you imagine the Jesus so many religions teach of standing they're weeping? Not just crying but weeping? My favorite scripture is "Jesus wept". How often do we find ourselves in so much pain that we weep? And he's been through that and he understands the pain we feel because he felt it too.
And yes Jesus was able to just say "burn" and the fire would have ignited. Them showing his humanity is showing the most important thing that is left out of religion when they portray Him. He's very relatable because he was human too.

I grew up seeing God the Father as wanting to punish all the sinners and Jesus as the one who steps in and persuades the Father to save us, but one day I was watching a movie that portrayed Jesus on the cross when he says, "Father, forgive them" and I suddenly saw that Jesus did what he did because not because he wanted it (and he did), but because the Father wanted it. They are not multiple gods, but one God, and Jesus's and the Father's will is exactly and always the same. In taking on a body subject to death, Jesus takes the role of the servant--the true servant--and a true servant never directs himself, a true servant only does the will of the master. This is why he did not save himself in the desert or in Gethsemane--if he had, he would be taking up the master's role and casting off the role of the servant and in so doing, would be proved false. So everything he does is at the Father's direction and in perfect and complete agreement in all things. God the Father's compassion and love for people is identical to that of Jesus, and it is the compassion and love of the Father which directs the compassion and love of the Son to rescue and restore us. So amazing!

I love this series! I'm christian and when I first saw Chosen, I was like WOW it hits home on so many levels, I cried and laughed in every episode and just like you said Leonardo, I love the way Jesus is portrayed here, so human yet divine, He struggled with the same stuff we struggle today so He knows how we feel and He can relate to that. He is not a distant God who just waits to punish us, He loves us unconditionally! He knows us, our thoughts, our lives and struggles and He says come, come to me and I will give you rest, come to me and I will help you go through it, come to me and I will show you who you are and what your life is really meant for. It just gets better and better 🙂 looking forward to see your reaction to the next episodes!

Stepfather story: God sees you every moment of your life. He knows even the most silent requests of your heart (i.e. To get the stepfather out of the house). How you confronted your stepfather was like David confronting Goliath (you can read it in book of Samuel). Only through the Holy Spirit can your words have had that much impact towards that man. God was protecting you and me from the time we were born. Every step of the way, he was making sure we were taking firms steps, but as Catholics we didnt see Him the way Christians do because we were still blinded of His presence then. He just seemed so far away then. When you start having a more personal realtionship with Him and you look back in the past, you will realize He had always been the caring Father you never had in this world. A loving, kind father.

Jesus knowing the presence of the children. God is omnisicent😊 He knows everything going around in the world at the same time. He will even know if He needs to send someone (man of God) to approach you because you are in need of it (often times that man of God wont know why he needs to approach you but he does it still in obedience to God's instruction). This was made possible through the Holy Spirit.. Pastors and believers of today are allowed this gift when God is using them for His purpose. The Holy Spirit is a an unexplainable voice of instruction and interpretation. When you begin to experience him in your life you will soon understand 😊

That’s what rang in my heart when I head you call people to love. Thank you for that. There is a beautiful short letter in the Bible (it’s called 1 John) about truth vs lies, love vs hate, light vs darkness...and my favorite part right now is love over fear.

Leonardo, I hope that I can clarify some things you mentioned in your talk following the program. Jesus came to this world, given to us by God the Father (the Great Spirit to you) out of His amazing love for the people in the world. He was born as a helpless infant with every human need having to be met by others, just like any other human baby. It is important to recognize that Jesus was fully God and fully man while on earth. He was like us in every way except that He was without sin, having been conceived in His mother Mary's womb by the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the Lord. He was tempted, the Bible says in the book of Hebrews, in all points, except did not sin, did not yield to temptation. He needed to be God and man in order to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins, a human because humans have sinned and God because He needed to be without sin Himself. His death on the cross which we read about in the gospels and other books of the Bible was necessary to satisfy God's requirement of perfection according to His standard of holiness, which man in his fallen state since the sin of Adam and Eve, could not measure up to. The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, of His perfect standard. We have all broken His law and deserve hell. But God, in His love and mercy, wanted to make a way for mankind to be able to have a right relationship with Him and is not willing for anyone to perish (go to hell), but for all to come to repentance. That's how much God loves us and why He sent His Son, Jesus.
Also, several things you talked about in connection with your family life echo Jesus' words from His Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7. He said to love even one's enemies and to do good to even those who mistreat us. He said to leave justice and vengeance up to God, which Jesus talked about with the children in the show. I look forward to joining you again to watch more episodes and I pray that their content will inspire you to check out the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus in the Bible as a result. You seem to have an open and seeking heart toward Him, kind of like Nicodemus has in these first 3 episodes. You can read more about Nicodemus' development of character in John Chapters 3, 7, and 19. That is all I will say about him for now in respect of your request to not write any "spoilers". I hope that this has been of some help to you and provided some answers to questions you may have about our Lord Jesus.

LOL at watching you dance. Makes me so happy. Edit to come Edit 1:A.D. Anno Domini in the year of our Lord in Latin.Edit 2: I LOVE how he mentioned that Bread is his favorite for many reasons- He's the Bread of Life. Which is especially a big deal to us Catholics because of The Eucharist🥰 continuing watching....Edit 3: Great point that you made there about Abigail telling her friends about Him- I think also children are more trusting and open to hearing than adults are 😢 I was thinking- He must have loved being with "us". Last edit: I love your beautiful open heart, Leo. Also that's our name for our next son if the Lord will bless us with more children. We've been going through infertility. Getting treatment soon, though! Very thankful! And I'm sorry for the experience you had ! I had a rough upbringing in some ways, too. The Holy Spirit definitely helped raise me through all of that!

The fact that people at this time traveled on foot so much and walked in a lot of unpleasant things, (animal waste etc) the act of washing another person’s feet, is an act of humility. You are saying, you are worth a lot to me, and I’m not better than you are. We all sin, but can be covered by Jesus blood, so we are exempt from the penalty of sin, which is a spiritual death.

Note, for example, when Jesus says that he "saw" Nathaniel under the fig tree when he wasn't even physically present (John 1:43-51), which proved to skeptical Nathaniel that Jesus was the Son of God.

I’m...seriously taken aback by your intelligence and intuition and, my favorite, seeing your honest reactions to the same things that moved me. I feel like every time I watch another vid of yours, you just keep getting better-the vids somehow just keep getting better. And most importantly, I needed to see this tonight. I’ve been in church all my life..didn’t really get to know THIS JESUS we see here though until about 5 yrs ago when I went thru the toughest stuff of my life. But anyway, lately I’ve been feeling weird and have needed reminders of who HE is and...who I am to Him. Thank you for making space for peace and love to flow here. It’s honest, beautiful, powerful work and you are touching so many lives by just simply doing as you’re led. So thankful you listened and started this channel. So thankful for the path you’re on and for your willingness and openness to learn and jump in and to have your heart opened in new ways. Super super inspired again. That’s so important for me. And don’t worry, I will be sharing this episode on FB and with whoever else I think of. Sooooo. Goooooood. You rock!! Blessings and all the favor and real joy and peace to you and yours and hoping it all somehow overflows in your home. Oh! And thanks for sharing that personal story. So fricken moving!!!!!

BC = Before Christ (Timing was off, Jesus was born about 4BC)
AD = Anno Domini: means "In the Year of Our Lord". Jesus was crucified about 30AD, rose three days later.
Calander runs down to 1BC, then goes to 1AD. No year Zero. Means Jesus was about 33 (or as some place it, 33 and a half) years old at his Death and Resurrection.
Washing of feet - if you were invited to another's house for a meal, you'd wash before you leave, dressing in your best. When you arrive, you'd have the dust from the road on your feet. It was courtesy for the host to then wash the feet of his guests before the meal, to wash the dust of the road off. Usually the lowest member of the Host household would do this job, rarely or never the head of the house. This comes into play MUCH later (at the Last Supper) - no spoilers. The series should eventually get there :)

I am new to your channel and I’m enjoying your reviews of ‘The Chosen’
I love this episode! It really helps us see the fully Human part of Jesus, which can be harder to relate to, knowing that he is also fully God. It also shows us the high value he places on children, which like many aspects of the time was counter-culture. Children were drawn to Jesus and his followers attempted to shoo them away.
    Matthew 19:13-15
Let the Children Come to Me
13 Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, 14 but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” 15 And he laid his hands on them and went away.

Regarding the question about the "Shema" at around 29:49, it was a central belief and possibly number 1 belief of the Jews of the 1st century (and today!). It was found in Deuteronomy 6:4. It is the Jewish acknowledgment that there was only one God, and that only one person was God. The being named "YHWH" (God tells Moses this is his name in Exodus chapter 3 when asked. It is thought to be pronounced Yahweh or Yehowah, in English it has turned to "Jehovah"). It is not exactly certain as to what the meaning of the name is, but "I Am" or "The One Who Is" or "The Being One" have been proposed among other attempts at translation. If these translations are correct it is thought that this name represents the fact that he is eternal, always has been and always will be, and that he can be all things to all people ('I am' God, 'I am' healer, 'I am' protector, etc). The word "Shema" means "hear" or "listen", because Deuteronomy 6:4 starts with the word/command "hear" "listen up". Like people were saying, by the 1st century it became a central prayer and even untill this day!
Jesus in the gospels, especially in Mark 12:28-34, makes this one of his own personal creeds and affirms the Jews are right to say and believe it as central. He actually says that it is "the number 1" rule and belief in Judaism period, and also for his followers. I hope you are able to read this. And may God shield your ears from anything false, and may God open you up to anything that is true.

The children of this episode are so brilliant.
Like you said, children are inherently smart. With a brain that's so fresh and new, the potential to absorb information and work it practically and logically is pretty much infinite.
Children only slow down when they're forced. When their imagination is stifled. That's why I think public school is such a tragedy today. It forcefully stops their wandering imagination and focuses it on one thing at a time which is detrimental to their ability to expand their mind. It restricts their ability to ask questions on anything except for the current topic, whether they're interested in it or not.
The potential of a child is only limited by the people who decide what's put in front of them.

There is little doubt in my mind that this show is just as God-breathed as any scripture in the Bible. See, I think most people who teach the Bible nowadays are as confused as the Pharisees. There is a line in the Bible that says, "no one should add to or take away anything from this book." Most teachers think that means there can't be any new scripture. But that line is written in the book of Deuteronomy, and it refers to the Book of the Law of Moses, which is the Torah (first 5 books). That would mean that the last 61 books in the Bible should not have been written. But then we would never have had a Gospel. Paul wrote to Timothy that "All scripture is God breathed." So why do we put God in a box and say that He can't do anything new? This show proves to me that He can and does new things all the time.
