So many singers went through phases of their careers when they ended up in Europe, especially Germany. Maybe when they couldn't get a new hit in America? I don't know. But you are correct that some of these crowds are way too passive for the energy and charisma that Eric always had onstage. Maybe they were just being too polite? He has had it all! Always been attracted to the man. Wish time could stand still and he would remain young and beautiful forever. Guess it is enough that he is happy and living well!
Eric Burdon said in his book that his Dad was an electrician. He worked at a coal mine. it would shut down for a couple weeks each year at Christmas and summertime. He helped his Dad during shutdowns. It was then and there he decided he would never work in a factory, coal mine, warehouse, etc. Lucky for us he didn't. Happy Birthday today(May 11) to Eric Burdon. I’m about 3/4 though reading his book “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” What a interesting read. He’s had quite the life. So glad it’s still going on. It’s a happy, sometimes sad, fact filled busy life he’s led. It would take many people 10 lifetimes to have done the living that he has. Glad Marianna and Eric take such good care of each other.
After all the comments about his pants, I had to take another look. Well I can't say I am enamored with this look. Maybe if you are going to wear leather pants, they should be black? Idk. I definitely am not into this reggae music or this band with its cowbell. Just not my thing. Maybe Eric was just trying different types of music. Artists get bored. This song does nothing for me but always love Eric.
Eric, like Irish guitarist Rory Gallagher, one of the most underrated and criminally ignored major talents of his era. (Would have loved to have had those two team up for a while.)
It is always challenging to compete and compare to the original of most everything. Certainly the thrill and joy for us listening to and watching the original Animals (and being as young and beautiful) as they were, is going to be difficult to duplicate. Still, Eric is like fine wine and we can appreciate all phases of his life. And.....he always has that presence, so good looking.
