Eric has always been fantastic! The whole band was great, and it’s too bad they couldn’t get a break when got together again!
40 was so old back in the day. Glad we look younger in our 40s these days.
Ive seen Eric and the Animals before on TV playing blues numbers they were a sort of regular on variety shows during the 60's but when I heard House of the Rising Sun I twisted my neck round to the TV to see who it was...wow! I thought, thats incredible, Eric's voice hit me, best Ive heard of it. I was a fan of the band instantly after hearing that. Eric belts it out with no effort...he made that song. Alan may have done an incredible piano but Eric pulled the song together...and Hilton's intro makes it instantly recognizable. Eric and the rest of the band should have had a share of the royalties...Alan, does he not have a concious about that? Bob Dylan thought Alan was wonderful as a pianist, even hiring him, but Eric made that song his own. Alan can be replaced but not Eric. So sorry to hear about Hilton's passing a great guitarist. RIP 😢
What Alan Price did copyrighting that arrangement for himself and hogging the royalties when it was the work of the whole band was disgraceful.
Yes it was disgraceful! Alan has no conscious whatsoever! The whole band made that record and all should have shared in the royalties! Eric’s voice could never be duplicated!

In 84' still playing R&R at 40 they were considered old. As time has progressed, and people like McCartney, Clapton, The Stones, etc... are still doing it in their 70's & 80's it's not a big deal now. Remember R&R was only "officially" called rock & roll for about 30 or so years at that point. So "OLD" rock & rollers really didn't exist at that point.
They look way older than 40 here.

Forty was "old" then - it's nuts. These guys where still young with loads to offer.
This was filmed in 1983. I saw them on their 1983 US reunion tour and they did plenty of older material. "Sky Pilot" was special, as was Alan Price doing "O Lucky Man".
I really liked their under-appreciated re-union album ‘Before We So Rudely Interupted’

It's always sad seeing a great band get back together but the tension can be cut with a knife. Especially the scene with Alan and Eric. But at least we can enjoy what they did before.
I agree, a wrestling match was about to ensue!! Eric just ignored it tho.
Saw the tension between Eric and Alan but kept a united front.
Does Eric still hate Alan for not sharing the royalties with the band or has Eric forgiven Alan and they have buried the hatchet?

You figure they call themselfs the ANIMALS , cause they are , beast at so many levels , as in music , writting music and tone , def tone , and i say again . there the masters at tone . there music is based around tone . Amazing for sure .
What a great group they are. Right up there with the Beatles and Stones even if theyve not had anywhere near the same commercial success.

what a treat to see this. Eric looked like a stiff with his lank greasy hair and monkey suit in the " baby take me home " clip. He speaks fluent liberation jive here. Chas Chandler 2:59 looks dreadful , his eyes betray his condition. One of them became a mystic and changed his name?. Long live Newcastle.

I understand Alan was credited for the Animals' arrangement of House of The Rising Sun but did not share the royalties with the rest of the group and they despied him for it, especially Eric.
I am pretty sure it was the fact that Alan Price got the royalties for house of the rising sun and he didn't end up splitting it with the group.

Eric has never forgiven Alan till this day because of it.

Unfortunately those were the times, they tried the worst time ever to try to make a comeback, real music was not in during the 80's, synthesized krap, triggered drums etc was the order of the day, same thing with The Everly Brothers comeback during the early 80's.
I don't like the voice over ... he's mocking the band members and has some facts wrong. But Eric is looking fab 😍

Alan is a real malcontent ,very dour with no time for games or fun ,with erics obvious passion for life and fun they couldnt be more different .I can only imagine the tension when eric was living large at 23 doing what a famous young man would do ....here instantly alan brings everything down he has the vibe of an old school yorkshireman not someone from Sunderland
