    Ikora monitoring Osiris is evidence of due diligence - not evidence of distrust. Even if she trusted Osiris without equivocation, it would be utterly incompetent for the Hidden not to keep him under surveillance. On a side note, I think there's a subtle difference between distrusting Osiris the man, and being uncertain if some external force has compromised him.

      @MD 81 you do realise that in one of the very lore tabs red in this video it's implied that ikora no longer trusts him atleast not completely, she does care without a doubt but trusting and caring are two different things and the fact that aunor is the one keeping watch and that when aunor told him that she's there for his safety with the implication that she's there to protect him from himself clearly shows how little faith ikora and the hidden have in him, also saying ikora is doing her due diligence in keeping watch over him so that she doesn't get tricked again is a null point because ikora has been watching us since beyond light, it only shows how on guard she is when it comes to trusting osiris and even if aunor is there bu coinsidence and it could've been any other hidden agent, but we don't know that so atleats to me it gives the iterpertation that she's there as an executioner should it come to pass that osiris has been compromised and is to kill on site in the case that he has.

      @@aistikasmursu9432 Not overlooking the strong points that you made, but your talk of Aunor being assigned as a potential inquisitor/executioner inspired an idea that I wanted to share with you directly since it was your reply that sparked it. One thing that we all are overlooking is that whilst powers of light are given (gifted) from an external source to the wielder, powers of darkness are derived from within the individual, are potentially without bound, AND are not regulated, or policed by an external source. What if things were to go South and Aunor, or some other unfortunate soul, were to try to quell Osiris only to find that one billion years of the Witch Queen's mastery of Darkness was also lying dormant in his mind. Talk about a rude awakening if he were to snap and tear the light from her body.

  • @DrApylon

    Well, an unconsidered point remains, Savathun, being opposed to the Witness to the point of seeking out the Traveler, could have shared her memories with Osiris as a hedged bet or even operated under the initial assumption of losing to the guardian in the first place. By giving them to Osiris, she nudges him in the correct direction to get ahold of something, anything, that might give the guardians the ability to fight back against the Witness if her plan to seal away the Traveler failed. I mean at that point her calculus is probably something along the lines of "if I lose, but my ghost survives, I can eventually come back, but if the Witness wins, I will definitely not come back, so the Witness can't win, I need to ensure the Guardians win or stalemate the Witness, best case scenario, they need me and my brood to win against the Witness, then I come back and if the Witness loses I can do whatever I want at that point."

    Why do I have this sinking feeling that, Savathun in all her cunning and foresight, left the memories of Neomuna in Osiris on purpose for the sake of him leading us to Neomuna, discovering how to wield Strand much akin to how we learned to use psychic energy through the trail of the glaive. She probably wants Osiris to get access to Strand because he is the most knowledgeable of how the universe works, in terms of time-space manipulation AND he was the most proficient user of the light, so learning the functionality and affordances of Strand would be a cakewalk for him. It doesn't seem like something Savathun would do to just leave traces behind, especially since she knew he would be saved by at the beginning of her plan AND because the Two Lies Two Truths game proves that she knew he was still alive. It is very suspicious how we have no speak of Savathun or her ghost and how the Lucent Brood have been creeping up since then. Remember, expansions don't just end the season they arrive, they linger for the whole year they come out, and we have yet to get any closure on what Immaru and the potential threat he poses now that Osiris is awake.

    • @S3Cs4uN8
      @S3Cs4uN8 2 года назад +3

      The biggest hole in this idea is that Savathun didn't know that Strand was a thing, she can't guide anyone to something if she doesn't even know it exists in the first place.

    • @franciscoandres4907
      @franciscoandres4907 2 года назад

      @@S3Cs4uN8 She may not know exactly what Strand is, but she may know about the Weave that connects all living things. She once said that the power to move worlds will be ours, and we may gain that power from the Weave in the form of Strand. The Eidolon armor and gear also gives us an idea that the existence of the Weave isn't entirely new. Drifter said and Eris saw that when you burn egregore at the ends, it "sings". When it sings, you can see wavelengths and- most importantly- threads. The loretab for Delicate Tomb also makes mention of "hearing without sound", which could also be referencing the Weave due to Strand's wavelength aesthetic. I think the Weave is something that's somewhat common knowledge among more 'esoteric' characters, but it's never been tapped into directly as a source of power. Maybe THAT'S what could help this theory work. Savathun left those clues for Osiris to discover a new way to tap into the Weave, which is how we discover Strand.

  • @steelgriffin7716

    I could see the Hidden agent being set to monitor and follow him having a secondary objective.
    Osiris has one life left to live, and Ikora's afraid to lose it. (yes I did adapt her line about herself from the Red War) Consider. On one side, He's still a possible security risk. Between his previous possession by Savvy, and his revival by the power of Lipton Neztea(Yes I stole that from a twitter post shut up it's funny), he could indeed by a walking time bomb.
    On the other, Osiris is clearly damaged. Emotionally compromised by everything that's happened to him, between losing Sagira and his light, to being used against his closest friends and favorite student... The man has been through some *shit* and it has effected him deeply. It's clear he desperately wants to maintain his relevance, too. He wants to help, to use that incredible mind and centuries of experience that honestly kinda justify his arrogance. And really it's all he has left. He's not the formidable warrior-Warlock he once was anymore with Sagira gone.
    That brings me to another thought. I really really hope the story of Lightfall involves us figuring out Strand first, on our own, even if the conversations are just between us and Ghost about it... But I have a second demand. It's cheap, it's dumb, it's... Cheesy. But the SECOND Guardian to learn and master Strand better fucking be Osiris.
    (Also don't make him a Cloudstrider(?). Please no, My heart and Saint couldn't take it.)
    Oh RIGHT. That secondary objective. Protecting Osiris from others, and possibly more importantly, Himself. What I worry about the most with Osiris is not him being a vector for attack again, it's him getting hurt or killed because he bit off more than he can chew.

    I think it might be two things. Diligence and worry for Osiris. Osiris likes to run off and make risks to try and make change instead of seeking help. His adventure into the Infinite Forest almost caused his own death. Going off alone to investigate the court of Oryx and rumors of Crow cost him the trust of his closest allies, the death of his ghost, and his free will.
    Then there is the fact drinking the essence of Nezerak well having a good effect of waking him from his coma could also have negative effects. Like making him a target for the Witness' manipulations or corruption.

From a character mentioned in lore beats in the Grimore online, to a quick "Thanks guardian" at the end of Curse, to showing up and being a voice in everyones' ear for over a year that turned out to be a huge trick and ANOTHER character we had read about in the Grimore and lore Savathun in a meat suit, to now being a shell (no pun intended) of his former self but possessing the one thing that makes him a bigger threat to the Witness in all these years; knowledge. Knowledge of a place and a power not mentioned except in some hand wave lore bits. Knowledge of a power that could rival the Witness' Fleet (I'm still convinced what we see in that shot of the Lightfall reveal is a Cloud Strider shot impacting and damaging a Pyramid Ship.
    Anor is there to protect Osiris; not just from himself; but from possible assassination, or worse, corruption, by the Witness' forces. We need what he knows, now more than ever. I am 99% sure we have her shell but what if Sageria shows up as some resurrected "Darkness Ghost" to try and sway him? What if that's how we make contact with Strand? He somehow is able to pull her back from the Dark and together they can use Strand and teach us how?

    Any argument about Savathun and her trickery seems moot though. Its just as likely she implanted those visions to deliberately mislead us as it is they're actually left over memories and she knew her sheer reputation would mislead us all the same. The protocol should be trust but verify, not outright distrust. Ikora is meant to be smarter than that, it bothers me that she's still so needlessly conniving after all these years. Eris probably has some spell that could verify his visions or something idk

    I can imagine a plot line in which Osiris is pushed even farther to outsider status than he ever had, gets Strand, and becomes sort of a third party in this war of Light and Dark. A lot of his recent dialog reminds me of Rhulk and the Witness. There's doubt, pain, loss, self loathing and anger that was never there when he was a banished Guardian. All his friends have abanded him, and he's lost the source of his power and usefulness. All he has left is Saint. We don't know the full extent of what subtle workings that distilled darkness would do to him. He may not be mind controlled by Nezarec, but he could be the smallest bit tainted or corrupted by the radiation like effects of the Darkness.
    Sure, he's going to have Strand eventually, obvious.
    But what will that look like? Will he just be a Drifter, Eris Morn, or countless Europan visiting guardian, a completely accepted Guardian who seems comfortable using the darkness and goes back to business as usual? Unlikely. Could he be a human analog to Eramis, feeling hurt and betrayed by people who just aren't willing to do what's necessary for the survival of the species? Could he join Neomuna and attempt to bridge the two worlds, or lash out at them for some combination of cowardice and withholding support at a time when the Earth, and he personally, needed help? Could he become a new Mara Sov, a being of dark and light, using predictions and Prophecy to bring destruction to his enemies no matter the unseen consequences? A new Savathun, working towards his own less clear endgame? Or could he become another Clovis Bray, an arragant intelligence that grows frustrated dealing with the feelings of lesser humanity that is unable or unwilling to understand the vast and interconnected understanding he brings? All these, or something comparable, seem more likely to me.

    I feel the one that can best help council and maybe guide Osiris in this new, and vulnerable, part of his long (last) life, is Eris. She suffered trauma and great loss from the Hive, survived, gained the City’s trust with her knowledge of the Hive, Taken, and later the Darkness itself, had gone through a vulnerable time where she couldn’t trust herself (suffering from the Witness’ corruption through the Darkness), gained new Allie’s to trust (the Dark Vanguard) and even has found a new role to play in her last life: a witch of the Dark Vanguard, helping us to unravel the veil hiding the Witness’ intentions. She’s been though Osiris’ experience before (albeit, without the possession), and would be the best person to help him. She even played the role of therapist, helping others accept, put their nightmares to rest after purifying them into memories, just as she moved past her nightmares. She could even teach Osiris how to fight and survive without the Light.

    I feel like this distrust of Osiris is buildup to him being our mentor while discovering strand. If I’m not mistaken, people usually discover and develop darkness powers when they’ve been denied something they really want, or rejected, or after a traumatic event. And I feel like after losing Sagira and his light, being possessed by Savathun, and then coming back just to be chaperoned by Ikora and her hidden for “security”, will sort of push him towards the discovery of something, anything he could use to try and help the last city, and prove that he’s still useful. And I think that could be strand. Idk how we’ll get to Neptune, Idk if we’ll start discovering the beginnings of strand at the end of this season or whenever we get to Neptune, but I really think it’s important to pay attention to Osiris in this time before lightfall. Could be something, could be nothing, but I think there might be something here
