Destiny 2 Lore - Who is singing inside Fikrul's Echo? The Mysterious Voice behind the Revenant!

- Опубликовано: 11 янв 2025
- Destiny 2's Lore and Story from Revenant has shown us that there's a voice singing within Fikrul's Echo. The Fanatic's actions have been deemed unworthy by this singing voice and now it calls out for a champion. But who is this voice? Today I wanted to discuss 2 possible answers to that question. Athrys & Chelchis. The mate of Eramis & The legendary Kell of the House of Stone.

the idea of the Echoes being alive, being able to choose their champions or disapprove of them is amazing. It makes sense that the Traveler, a force of life, has spawned something that lives and has its own mind just makes sense.
It could also be really interesting for faction dynamics, with some members following the echo whereas others follow the actual leader.
Well, that makes us think something:
Whoever is the Echo of Command is a big asshole
I'm curious as to what the third Echo is since they're alive
@manuelb5466 probably someone related to the hive. It’s extremely unlikely but what if it’s Taox?
@@spacemegalodon5049Taox never died
My first thought was Chelchis. This Episode is leaning into Kell lore and Chelchis was the Kell that fought the Black Fleet. Would make sense to be Her memory.
Plus, she was said to have sung an old Eliksni song in the new lore book. I'm not holding my breath, but man it'd be cool to be Chelchis.
Wouldn't variks recognize her voice tho?
@devinbiggers2742, probably not. No one ever said they spoke. Or even knew each other (personally). Also I'm willing to bet Chelchis' and Variks' age gap is the same between Variks and Eido
It’s Eliana Siegman and we got to find all 3 echoes to activate the Easter Egg song

This is why I understood why Eido was pushing for Eramis to be freed.
Variks and Eramis are the only ones with memories of old Riis. Plus she understands old Riis tonics etc.
Eramis will have a huge role in this episode! Probably be the one to fight and die to protect.
Plus, a Dirge is a mourning song, so if Variks is correct that the song is a “Whirlwind dirge”, meant to call out to Eliksni wanderers, that perfectly matches up with Chelchis’s “sad song”.
I think editor did a really good job with this ;)
🎺 here’s your horn to toot
The goat edits for Byf 😱
I think you answered your own question by cutting out Athrys.
Chelchis was a KELL.
A Kell would know who would be worthy of being a Kell
The fact that the echo is challenging his claim as a Kell, of course it would be likely for the echo's conscience to be a Kell.
Also the fact that we've known that Chechis directly fought the Black Fleet for years, since she's mentioned in the King's Fall weapons.
Yup this makes a lot of sense
I haven’t touched Destiny in a hot minute but I like to stay up to date with the lore so thank you so much for uploading
That's how I was when I. Quit after the trash Osiris dlc, never gonna leave my boy byf
@@jhsrt985 which one?
@@eranronen573most likely it’s curse of Osiris, that dlc almost killed destiny
I know Revenant isn't perfect, but damn that one cutscene was incredible. I was pretty confident we would eventually visit Old Riis ourselves during the next chapters. Now, seeing how completely obliterated and finalized it was, I'm not sure there is much left to recover.
Someone who might know more about the Echo's song is Namrask. He was one of the leaders who pushed to pursue the Traveler rather than remain on Riis, like Chelchis did.
Man, I’ve been waiting for Chelchis lore since TTK. She’s one of those few extremely storied Eliksni and, back in D1 where the Fallen Houses actually had some identity as opposed to today in D2, she bore the entire curiousity and mystery of House Stone with her.
I feel like Bungie needs to bring the story of the Kell of Kells to an end, it's been teased so many times that it has somewhat lost its grandeur imo
The one thing that stood out to me in the cutscene was that we actually got a glimpse of Riis in the moment of it's destruction.
And it looked like the fate of the Eliksni homeworld was the same the Witness wanted to impose on earth.
Here’s how I want things to play out/ wrap up:
Echo leaves fikrul, chooses Misraks.
Fikrul runs off or is captured, skolas is killed.
Misraaks is turned, immediately we are thrown into combat with an echo wielding misraaks.
Misraaks is killed, but then resurrected by a ghost.
Misraaks, chosen by the traveler, weirder of the echo, no longer corrupted becomes the kell of kells.
A really weird part of me wants variks to be the kell of kells for some reason though. It opens room for variks to betray us (again) and rise to power, making a new age of house judgement, giving us a new fallen house to combat, with a lot of old house themes. It’s near impossible for this to happen, but would be interesting.
awesome idea. when/how did variks betray us before?
@ he hasn’t betrayed us directly, so to speak, but he’s repeatedly been shown to betray those he’s “loyal” to, which is ironic given his title “variks the loyal”.
1. Loyalty to his people - he sells out a ton of information about the fallen, particularly skolas, to the awoken, resulting in the onset of the reef wars.
2. Loyalty to the awoken - after Mara’s “death”, variks causes the massive prison break in the prison of elders, causing the events of forsaken (inadvertently killing Cayde, the entire house of kings, released a corrupted crow, etc)
3. Loyalty to eramis - this one is the most justified, but is treatment to variks character enough. He sees eramis slowly get corrupted by darkness, and contacts the guardians to come in and slaughter house salvation, causing the events of beyond light.
A lot of his actions do have justifications, like his grudge with skolas, wanting the betterment of his race, etc, but he seems to then do the complete opposite through his actions… just think about all the fallen on Europa destroyed by guardians… the very same he swore to build a new Riis for…
Overall, it wouldn’t surprise me if variks, if given the chance with the echo, would say, “I know what is best for my people, not you.” And completely betray us in that sense, that he makes his own house and tries to rise to power as yet another self proclaimed kell of kells, like skolas.
I want the first half of that, but instead of the “Missraks is killed” part, he attacks Eido, Eramis steps in to defend her, and Eramis dies and is resurrected by a ghost. They’ve lightly foreshadowed it by Spider asking us to make sure nothing happens to her.
@@ChrisKurecka Spider asked to make sure nothing happens to Eido, not Eramis.
@@EYErisGames That's what "her" meant and why Eramis would need to step in to defend her.
If we get Eidomus Prime...
*you got the touch... you got the POWERRRRRRRRRR YEAH!!*
Yeah, I totally see the Echo as an Eliksni Matrix of Leadership.
Rise, Eidomus Prime, Kell of Kells. May yor Light rekindle the Spark of your people. Until all are one!
The Echo is Chelchis. Not sure why Athrys is even being considered since last we heard she was alive right before The Final Shape.
Eido would make no sense to gain the Echo as she is not a combatant in the slightest and is too important to the Eliksni's future as she is. Seems obvious the Echo is going to Erimus or Mithrax. Its just a question of which and how it goes down. I kind of want to see both die with Mithrax reviving via Echo and Erimis via a Ghost.
I'm slightly more curious to see how things end with our villains. Basically will Nezarec revived fully, and will Fikrul be caught, killed, or escape?
I wonder if the Echo might choose someone who isn't an Eliksni.
Imagine if Mithrax gets turned by Fikrul into a Scorn.
Imagine if Eido is killed (perhaps later being raised by a ghost, as you suggested).
And, imagine if the Echo chooses a worthy protector, such as Zavala.
@EYErisGames if that does happen I think it should come around full circle and choose crow redeeming himself from creating the scorn and fikrul in the first place
@@EYErisGames💀
Straight away, I could totally see Arthys arrive and call Eramis over a transmission and the two run off in the cosmic sunset whilst giving the Vanguard the middle fingers without a word. I could a totally see and understand that unless bungie flops over a plothole.
if Chelchis is in the Echo of Songs and we know she's Taken, makes me wonder who's in the Echo on the Dreadnaught. Now the door's been opened to any Taken, this makes the Echo's candidate even more in question for it.
It could Malok, brought back and now seeking vengeance on the Hive gods for taking his freedom away. It could be one of Xivu's many children, taken previously by Savathun, now trying (and failing) to reach and align with their mother again. It could be Quaria, brought back with free will gifted by the Traveller's light, seeking to understand the Sword logic off it's old directives in any way possible. It could even be a character like the Emperor Raven which, in scale, would fit the eldritch theme Bungie want to go for. It could even simply be Oryx himself, the TTK playthrough bungie did said in the final cutscene that "Oryx took himself so he can face us in the Raid" which would explain why the Echo is where it is.
Echoes don't exclusively have to be Taken, they can be any mind or consciousness consumed or controlled by the Witness through the Darkness as we saw in the Episode Echoes with the Echo of Command. This still leaves the door open for that final echo to be a member of the Precursor Penitent race, ro even that last mind in the Witness that caused it to refer to itself as "I"
Oooh, Emperor Raven would be really cool! I hope!
I made this claim on Aztecross's vid, I have my bets on Eido being the worthy one. She's been 'hyped-up' by major Eliksni characters for some time now. There's no way it wouldn't be her.
There's a lady in my echo who calls me Kell of Kells
I believe Mithrax is the one who might die has by being possessed by the desiese and spirit of Nazerec. and after ressurected, turn into a guardian and the Khell of Khells. He is the chosen one.
Eramis is also a strong contender. It will be one of the two
The echo could be what cures him too, cause it's paracausal TM
Maybe when he’s dead we’ll actually call him by his name, Misraaks
I say variks will become the Kelly of kells by being chosen by the echo. Mithrax will still die and become a guardian tho
Killing a character to then immediatly resurrect them is gross
My money's on Mithrax. Hes already not looking good thanks to Nezarecs curse. Imagine he dies to Nezzys curse while fighting Fikrul, the echo chooses him, and then a ghost resurects him. He would be the first eliksni lightbearer and the wielder of a form of transendence through the echos power. They have been building Mithrax to be the kell of kells for a while. I see that happening.
That or something happens to Eido. Eido has also been sorta built up to be some kind of new age Eliksni that is trying to bridge the old and new ages of Eliksni together. She doesn't know the old Riis, but she knows of it, so she has something to work towards. I can see the echo perhaps choosing her in some situation, and either Misraaks dies or becomes... cleansed? by the power of the echo? I won't lie, I would like Misraaks to die, become chosen by the light and also earn the Echo and become Kell of Kells.
Bungie has both options that could work, one obviously being more satisfying.
Imagine instead if Fikrul turns Mithrax into a Scorn, causing Nezarec to finally take over completely.
One of my theories is "Kell of kells" is misunderstood. With the combined Light and Darkness of the Echoes, it's not a single Eliksni, it's the memories and aspects of two Eliksni being resurrected into one. Maybe Misraaks and Eramis both die and the Echo uses their memories/minds to create the Kell made of Kells. A warrior for peace and unity with a warrior of strength that remembers the old ways of the Eliksni and Riis.
The Kell (made) from/of kells.
The creation will cause a stir as the new being made from them calls Eido by name or nickname (Eramis) and "daughter" (Misraaks).
The prospect of the Echoes being able to bring forth minds warrants study and wonder if it can retrieve the memories of Guardians.
The accusations of Osiris being a Golden Age abomination mistake of resurrection might come into play down the line.
Other than that, my money is still on a guess that the reason we've gotten as far as we have is a version of Sagira was pulled into the past.
When the Vex could see her Light energy signature as she and Osiris were poking about, it was because they already knew of and interacted with her in the far far past. She may even have played small parts in getting us further than other timelines. It's been kept secret by Elsie that Sagira, or a version of Sagira, has been the one speaking to her when we first met and called her Exo Stranger.
Interesting theory.
That would be GREAT! Good theory
See the thing is, the Book of Sorrows mentions the Qugu, but I almost think its a form of revisionist history, because they do nothing to point out the fact that Te’Qal absolutely obliterated not only all the active hive forces assaulting them (including Savathun and Oryx themselves, though they obviously just needed to regenerate in their throne worlds), but an entire pyramid ship as well. I think we’re going to learn that if it is Chelchis, whatever the hive has said about how she died is not the full truth, and they’ve chosen to understate how much of a badass she was before she went down
History is always written by the victors.
11:47 My favorite part of the greater Destiny lore is that the Eliksni live with the constant threat looming overhead of having their arms ripped off in shame.
I adore how poetic the eliskni are. We are all scientific with our names astronaut, cosmonaut. But they just say it how it is. Star-sailor. That's what they are. Sailors in the Great Dark.😊
Oh I think it's misraaks mom and that's why it will choose him saving him from nezerac
Let me make a guess before watching... Athrys and Chelchis.
Don’t forget 13:49 the broken crown artifact was also lore on chlechis. Also I wonder if we’ll ever get closure on Craask, Kell of Kings. He “died” off screen but but never confirmed.
Just gotta say it, I know it’s not the point, but that score for the cinematic was incredible. Destiny seems to always be at its best when the soundtrack is bangin’
Bin watching for a short while and let me say,you are amazing.
Your way of doing these videos does not only bring interesting information but also in an imersive way with some "vibe" how people would say >_<
It is just very intersting and comfy to just sit and listen, cant wait for the dragon age video.
Byf, you are amazing. If Destiny ever dies, please go on to Warhammer and Warframe, they deserve your talent and time
I don’t have a strong opinion on who will be chosen, I do think the chosen one dying being resurrected would be a perfect touch - but they should be resurrected by the Echo, not a ghost.
With only two exceptions I can think of (and I’m no loremaster), being resurrected by a ghost results in a loss of memory/identity. It just doesn’t feel right for the Echo to choose a new Kell of Kells only for them to have no memory of who they were.
On the other hand, the Echo can resurrect from the dead and, more importantly, is a fusion of both the Light and the Darkness.
Badly mangling the dialog from Iconoclasm; The Light forgets and the Darkness remembers.
An Eliksni resurrected by the Echo could conceivably be returned to life with the full memory of who they had been.
Any day Byf posts is a good day.
if not for his current affliction, i feel that mithrax would be a prime candidate of the kind of wielder the echo wants
I just need to say that cutscene went so hard
Right off the bat, a cinematic recap.

I still find it bonkers that there has never been an Eliksni Light Bearer. They've been in the system a long time and were also chosen. Savathun was only risen after she gave up her worm and returned to be physically a Krill, another species that was to be chosen.
They've strongly suggested that the Eliksni were once able to wield the Light in some respects (such as Splicers), and I think they're hinting at Slayer Barons being somewhat equivalent or analogous to Guardians, although without ghosts.
@@EYErisGames I'm referring specifically to Ghost risen entities. That's the bonkers part to me.
@@athroughzdude Yeah, I agree. But, remember, the Traveler didn't create the Ghosts until the Darkness caught up to it and defeated it in Sol (as far as we know anyway). We assume every other time the Darkness approached, the Traveler was able to escape.
@@EYErisGames That's my point though. The Ghosts exist now, and the Eliksni have been in the system while Ghosts existed but not before meaning they should be viable candidates. Meaning either the Traveler can designate who gets to be rezzed (in which case we need to have a serious talk about Savathun) or the Ghosts can reject candidates (which I don't think is the case since every time a Ghost talks about their Guardian it's like a soul mate thing).
Hello Byf! Hope you're doing well and keep up the great work!
I really hope we go to Riis in Frontiers
Oh. I thought we were all expecting chelchis lol, but the idea of it being eramis' mate is cool
It's possible it's the slayer apprentice themselves, who remembered and/or learned the song from Chelchis.
Not sure why Chelchis was the first one to come to my mind when the question was posed but I’m glad there’s evidence that points to my guess being right 😅
that cutscene is incredible!
bro uploaded as i was watching ur vesper's hosts vid
Fantastic video
Real Nier Automata vibes from the Echo’s singing
It's almost like the Echos, I've only recently got back into Destiny 2, are better constructed variants of the Oryx Echoes that the Guardian faught against in the Post-Taken War campaign in Destiny 1.
I'm inclined to think it's more likely the new slayer baron speaking in the Garden Way.
TeQal was the voice in last episode's lore book, and last episode's echo. I'd like to believe bungie wouldn't be so predictable, but it's hard to not jump there.
My thoughts exactly. There's a good chance it's Chelchis, but it could also be Keraskes (forgot the spelling) who heard Chelchis' song.
@EYErisGames I think Kiraskes was the senior slayer and the apprentice was Irrha, if I remember correctly? & I'm guessing it's the apprentice.
God I hope this Echo will end up becoming an exotic weapon.
I had the impression that whoever it is inside the Echo, they could be a memory, not the actual person trapped inside. It could very well be the memory of Athrys, regardless if the real one lives or not.
The first cutscene of the episode featured slayer barons fighting a worm god. That should have some meaning.
Honestly id love to see Eramis become the Kell of Kells. At the moment, Eramis is so weighed down with memory and legacy. If she was killed and brought back to life by a Ghost, shed forget all that.
If she sacrificed herself to save Eido (who she sees as the future of the Eliksni), then Eramis becoming Kell of Kells would be the future of her house too.
Command, connection, integrity
I believe it is Chelchis as the video from bungie for act 2 they mentioned Chelchis. Also I have been saying Miisraks will become the first Eliksnii Light bearer
I think mithraks should be the first raised elixni, he's been big in the space of D2 since red war, as much it would be cool to have eido rise it would also mean she'd die and forget
The Echoes are seeming more and more like super OP versions of Ghosts.
I know the voice of a great many leaders I have never met. Chelchis is certainly a possibility, but I would have thought Variks would know her voice. I thought it might be Kiiraskes or Irrha.
Honestly one of the best cutscenes in the game
I also have a feeling that the echo will choose eido, however, I feel like, with everything he has gone through in his life, and even with the curse, Mithrax should be the one chosen, not eido. She has said that she has no desire to be kell, and variks clearly is training her to carry on house judgment. Mithrax has even been called kell of kells by saint, which I thought was foreshadowing. I feel as though bungie is trying to erase everything he has done in his past, both good and bad, with this curse this episode, making him seem unworthy when he has his outbursts of rage from the curse.
now all they have to do is change the herald of finality's name to chelchis, herald of finalty
Who do I have to bribe at Bungie to get Craask, Kell of Kings in the game?? His death was left open enough for him to return.
The Kings were so formidable once upon a time but were basically all slaughtered off screen to become the scorn. Let’s not forget they are the ones who organized the Twilight Gap offensive. We crippled the Devils, Wolves, and Winter but the real architects of the Great Siege, the Kings? We killed like three barons and that’s it.
The Eliksni Houses of D2 are far less compelling than the Wolves, Devils, and Kings of D1 imo. They all feel less distinct and less of threat (House Light excepted). I just feel like we were cheated out of a villain they had brewing for years with Craask. Maybe he could inherit the echo, but let’s be real it’s probably going to just be another installment of the Eramis show.
I agree. Plus, Kings have been brought up recently with Warlord's Ruin.
Eido might get chosen by the Echo, but her not being a fighter makes me think that Mithrax might die and be rezzed as a Lightbearer (I won't guess whether he'll have his memories returned or not if this does happen, though) and would serve as a role much like how the Vanguard served the Speaker prior to the Red War.
I think Fikrul is going to turn Mithrax into a Scorn, allowing Nezarec to fully take control. Then Eido may get killed. Eramis (or someone else) will get the Echo. The coolest idea I can think of would be for Zavala to somehow obtain the Echo, being a protector, guardian, and Titan vanguard. Eido may get risen as a guardian at some point, but it probably wouldn't be this episode. They'd let us mourn her for a while, I think, before raising her.
I feel that act 1 already had a wife lost. And for that reason I think Chelchiss (sic) is more likely. Rather than repeat a beat.
It's Amanda, she's trapped in there.
hmmmm do i hope to see the coolest eliksni to ever exist or hope to see closure for my favorite character?
Echo is gonna fly to either Mithrax (when he does in Exotic mission) or Eido

A lady of the Skrank Gang. That's who is singing.
Hello Tenno My name is Byf here
Are we going to talk about how everything we know about the Witness's Final Shape directly contradicts what Elsie Bray has told us about the dark future she has been trying to prevent?
If fikrul losses the echo, nothing will change for him he was fundamentaly evolved by echo light. The only thing that will change is he will no longer be able to change eliksni into scorn with just the swing of his Staff on such scale. The other thing, no one in the last city is worthy becoming kell of kells and every one knows that.
i think it will be athrys calling for eramis
What if the echoes are the collective minds of each civilization and the singing of the song is by the “witness “ of the old fallen culture. Echoes of the old world
I think the echo is going to connect to young eido
just saying but old strength said by a loyal bug dude who do we know that is a bug dude and has old strength in them? mithrax. could see they think by giving him the echo it could give him the power to cure himself or drown in the curse and embrace the final pain.
Maybe when the echo opens, we'll get to play fallen guardians?
the song sounds so effin cool
The Doom of Chelchis
It makes sense. She doesnt like fikrul, and what protector wants her people to be harmed?
My Prediction: Mithrax spirals out of control due to Nezerec's Curse and tries to hurt Eido. Eramis jumps in and takes a mortal wound, but Eramis also kills Mithrax with a trading blow and they both die and one or both are resurrected. Not sure who gets the Echo or who becomes a Guardian. Maybe only one gets both
I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking it was the Kell of Stone, it would make sense. They never specified her gender before now, and the voice speaking is *likely a female, but they just now specified that the Kell is a woman.
That cutscene is:

Kell of kells ressurrected by Ghost?
MONKEYS PAW CURLS - TANIKS IS BACK, THIS TIME AS FRIEND
Since this Echo basically controls life, Mithraks is dying from the curse and that the Echo seems another wielder. I’m wondering, maybe it will chose Mithraks and it cure him or his daughter as the new wielder and using Echo she cures her father 🧐
What if the soul of the echo turns out to be Misraaks mother?
Its related to Eido's family !
Being mysterious apparently.
Am I the only one that thinks it could be the fallen disciple that we never met?
The only reason I don’t think Eido would be chosen by the echo is that if it is Chelchis in there (and by God I hope it is) she would certainly consider ones ability to fight and defend their people a significant factor in being worthy, and Eido while determined is not a warrior. That would leave two options, Eramis or Mithrax.
My theory is Mithrax. What if his curse progresses to the point that he’s consumed by it and turns against us. As the Slayer Baron and per the instructions of the kell who named us Slayer Barons our duty will be to kill Mithrax, which would put him in line with the guardian’s creed. His devotion to the Traveler and his people. His bravery in facing his own dark path and regrets while trying to be better. His sacrifice in allowing himself to take on the curse in order to help Osiris. And his death at the hands of his friends and ally’s to ensure he cannot harm those he’s sacrificed so much for.
If this happens he would be very likely to be brought back by a ghost, help us face Fikrul, earn the favor of the echo, and be crowned Kell of Kells.
Imagine if before all that, Fikrul actually turns Mithrax into a Scorn. A Scorn Neza-rax would be insanely cool to fight.
It makes me wonder if Eido sings the song too?
Mithraxx will succumb to his possession by Nezarec, and he will kill Eido as his first victim. Eramis will be the one to put Mithraxx down, and then the Echo will be used to revive Eido.
was there 1 or two echoes before this one? what's her name as a robot had one with the vex who or what was in that one? did we get that echo back?
Just the 1 before this. Maya Sunderesh used it to control the vex and she escaped with it. I forget which civilization he was a part of, but the being in that echo that spoke to Maya was General Teqal(spelling?)
I think i get it. The echoe is going to choose us and will grant us our next subclass...its red...like the sub class hinted
I get House Rain vibes.
Has anyone tried playing the song from the cutscene in reverse?
I hope they tie in chelchis and by extension the herald of finality
I'm curious. How is the Herald of Finality related to Chelchis?
