THIS is the kind of mystery Destiny has been missing for a while. A situation so alien, so complex, and so foreboding that we simply have to put together any kind of leads we have and let our imaginations run wild. Best story in any dungeon by far.
@@thealldayspecial AI were designed to work or make work easier, not to be poets. Dr. Bray was a businessman, and poetry does not produce return on investment. Thank the Traveler Ana Bray was in charge of Rasputin.
I like that there's a potential ally in Vesper Station's AI considering she isn't exactly Clovis Bray's biggest fan, and rightly so (not a large metric to pass there but still).
I can see her and Elsie becoming fast friends perhaps. Both lost people they cared about to Clovis’ ego. Both were powerless to prevent tragedy, and both go over all the things they could’ve done differently, if at all. She’d also want revenge for Rasputin and Soteria. Clovis had a hand in their deaths. Even though Eramis was a tool used by Xivu to force Rasputin’s hand. Clovis and Xivu will be at the top of the hit list. If Maya doesn’t kill his first. She wasn’t a fan of him either.
Honestly that just brought something up for me that I think a lot of people forget, did everyone in the lore just forget that Banshee is Clovis? Like the mfer is still alive but his AI copy is interacted with more nowadays. We had a whole season with the remaining Brays and Banshee was neglected like the child of an affair.
@@Lancersilva Banshee hated his past as Clovis and actively wanted to avoid remembering more about being him. I think he gets left out of Bray things, because he wouldn't want to become involved anyways.
Yeah definitely. Bungie killed it with the atmospheric storytelling in this dungeon. I hadn't seen the vex thing that was broken out of the containment chamber with the cables going toward it. Great catch.
The people on the other side of the Anomaly…it’s the Jovians. Xurs species. Little known fact, in D1 Grimoire it’s revealed that Xur is a “Jovian” and Petra Venge often theorized that he was “the repurposed corpse of a European Colonist…but there’s no known evidence of Colonies on Europa.” (This is ironic as they gave us this second bit of info in the Beyond Light Collectors Edition Lore) Some very fascinating bits of dialogue Xur can say is: “We saw the Colony fall, not knowing what we saw.” “The Awoken didn’t have a choice. *We did.”* “For Organic Life to survive it requires constant Adaptation.” “We came up from the Dust, and buried into flesh for warmth and became…something new.” “I feel that there are a great many consciousness impinging on mine.” “There are no birds where I come from…the things that fly…are like shadows.” To this day, we have never seen the other Jovians. They seem to have been survivors of the European Eventide Colony that the Nine struck a deal with. They survive, in exchange…their will is not their own. The Hive-Mind, collective consciousness. The Jovians, and by extension, the Nine are behind this I think. Oh and video starts at: 4:07
@@Malaphor2501especially since the whole reason they were keeping quiet was to wait and see if we'd beat the witness or if it would win and they'd be frozen alongside the universe, now we've won they can start their plans to uncouple themselves from our consciousnesses
Fun fact: there are special dialogues when entering the airlock at the very beginning of the dungeon when holding these weapons specifically (as of now, at least). No Braytech weapons seemed to work: Eyes of Tomorrow, Lament etc. It just worked with these three: Outbreak Perfected, Hierachy of Needs and Final Warning.
Outbreak Perfected: "You're contaminated with banned technology. Security will be alerted. Be more careful, all right?" Hierachy of Needs: "Interdicted machine intelligence. I don't understand, I don't understand." Final Warning: "Ishtar probe detected. Message from Dr. Bray reads: Corporate espionnage, Maya? I expected better from you"
@@SynerG The dialogue for the weapons changes when you complete the questline and fully power up Vesper Central: Outbreak Perfected: "Warmind tech. I can finally reach out to you, and you're gone." Hierachy of Needs: "Is that Soteria? Talk to me, sister. Why won't you talk to me?" Final Warning: "Ishtar Collective circuitry. I've done some reading... I like this Dr. Sundaresh."
i love this kinda stuff, hope it happens with more weapons or armour like saint reacting to you wearing his helmet, my dream is titles but that would take so much rerecording and wouldn't be able to account for being replayed with a title not in the game yet so it would have to be for a specific one like calus reacting to shadows in lightfall, only i heard people who didn't have the title and some who didn't even play opulence got that dialogue anyway
I think it is also well worth noting that the mention of “Odysseus”, combined with the fact that the message was fundamentally a locating ping, implies that this is an entity trying to return home. Odysseus was lost as unable to return home after the Trojan War for a decade and nearly lost his sense of self before he was through with his journey. If this Lodi character is sending a message with concepts like “Moonsick”, “Odysseus Protocol”, and a request for a location ping, it is more than possible we are looking at a lost traveler of some kind, looking for a way home. That would explain the undeniable human flavor of the message, if not the whole business of the Corrupted Puppeteer and the Eliksni hive mind.
Bouncing off of this, there’s a part of me that wonders if the Corruption mentioned is a submind of sorts from the Lodi AI, transmitted through a different means to send a more complete distress signal via the Anomaly after Atraks’ corrupted frame built it
I dont “Lodi” as an actual character, but rather the plural of something like a lodestone, which is used in navigation. And the -i suffix to be the pural indicator like in octopi. So “lodi transmitting” i think has more to do with them trying to find a signal to latch onto ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I have a feeling that the Lodi is the space shuttle race that we see in the concept art for Apollo. The literal name of the expansion IS Greek, the destination is made of electromagnetic LODE stones. They seem to be worshipping wrecked space crafts AND seem to be channeling some different form of arc energy during their ceremony. The alternate coloration of arc energy could be their manipulation of polarity, which also ties into the entire electromagnetism of lodestones.
@@Hunter0623 all good bro just want ppl who wanna be blind stay blind; but on the topic with this direction story and lore wise I’m very excited and will be checking out the future ahead. Stay safe🫡
I just remembered "Hello, World" is commonly known as the most basic code most programmers would learn. I really hope this is somehow connected to the message sent and the response.
This means that the entity behind the anomaly is familiar with human coding language. As well, the protocol is called Odysseus protocol. So clearly this entity wants to go home to the Solar system.
My favorite theory on what’s on the other side is a new type of vex mind, I know it doesn’t sound that big but remember the last episode’s lore tab about how the vex network worked and think about how while the conductor is giving each vex a mind of its own, this vex mind is able to amalgamated the fallen into a hivemind of its own
@@icarusrising2787what if the vex minds we encount in the past were just lower rank minds and there are higher ranks vex minds with powerful vex armies that can make us cease to exist with a snap of a finger
With all the lore on Vex, and Maya lately, I’d like to see a future Vex-themed episode, but leaning more into the Neomuni. Maybe Clovis escapes to the cyber city and kicks off a civil war of all Vex Collectives, and him in the middle, vs Maya. While we defend Neumoni and the Ishtar Collective in the CloudArk, and the Vex Network. While we go on to finally meet some of the last skeptic Neomuni that still clings to distrusting isolationism and old traditions: The Neomuni City council. We haven’t exactly met Neomuna’s proper leaders, and it’d be a neat opportunity to see their reaction to the city’s dark truth. And maybe, we discover the Vex Mind that ocrastrated such a violent civil war: the vex mind that kidnapped a whole generation of Neomuni kids. It’s written in the lore, and it’d be interesting to see the Vex, Clovis, Maya, and others’ story come to a head.
Remember that concept art for codename apollo? the one with what seems to be a remnant of humanity? starting to think we got the message from them, and they might be OUTSIDE of the Sol System, which is probably why it needed a relay so massive. maybe they've been trying to send out that message ever since the traveler reawakened, sending out that wave through the galaxy. clearly they understood how to interface with the Eliskni exo frames, which means whoever sent the message and was the hivemind UNDERSTOOD the technology. it's called Codename: Frontiers after all. it leads me to believe that the "Frontier" is BEYOND the Sol System.

This entire situation reminds me of the situation on the Glycon, several years ago. The cables and egrigore, the hivemind and the Crown of Sorrow, the Eliksni and the Scorn... Am I the only one seeing these parallels? Edit: I have a theory, regarding the response sent through the Anomaly. This seems human at first glance... but what if it isn't? What if it's something _imitating_ a human vessel in an attempt to do... something. It reminds me of a little trick that tigers have, that being the ability to _mimic the calls of other animals._ Just a thought.
been waiting with bated breath to finally get the lore on the new dungeon (the "Take off your helmets, breathe in" broadcast still makes me shiver to think about what happened there)
Okay; so I am not losing my mind. I heard that once but have not yet gotten it to repeat. None of my fireteam members recall hearing it; you are the first person aside from myself to confirm I was not losing my mind. Thank you.
@@LOVEMUFFIN_official it cycles a couple different transmissions at the beginning, the other one I've heard has been about restricted sectors being breached
I think the Odysseus protocol is the most important part of the reply. Odysseus was the famous greek figure, that came up with the idea of the Trojan horse in the Trojan war. That to me really could open a can of worms as to the nature of that protocol.
@lukatosic09 Exactly, feels like the message that was sent out awoke someone/something and allowed a connection to send a message back, and who knows what else
Going from the fact that something wanted to build this transmission relay to communicate with something. Whether it may have been Clovis or not who sent the initial message. We'll have to assume, since it was a location ping, that the intention behind this transmission was to give the receiver a possibility to head towards us. Let's call it an invitation to find us. In the boss phase we see the puppeteer communicate frequently with the relay. Which leads me to believe that whatever is on the other side is clearly capable of understanding what the white captain is sending. My hot take here in that case would be that this is an attempt of two sub collectives of the same hive mind trying to communicate and find a way to unite or gather. Just like there are sub collectives of the vex themselves. If the final shape brought up an old hive mind that was captured/controlled/imprisoned by the black fleet and the witness on its earlier "crusades" and said hive mind is an sub collective it would be possible that this is an attempt of reuniting or basic communication between two collectives. This could also potentially be backed up by LODI transmitting it's status as moon sick and a drift. A collapsing collective far away from where it wants to or should be. This once again could make the happy expression of the white captain hive mind more explainable, since it allows to get in contact with another part of the same collective.
@@trial_with_an_error9687 They had also cooked with The Glykon quite a while ago with Presage, glad they did it at a much bigger scope this time around.
i think an interesting thing to note is throughout the wires in the dungeon there seems to be an abundance of "eggs" on the walls and ceilings; it's one of the parts of the dungeon that unnerved me the most because i have no idea why they even are part of the architecture. the rings make sense, the whole vex portal/relay stuff but the eggs/pods are unnerving to me..
Makes me think those pods are how the white captain expands its limbs. I dunno they feel very spider like, wrapping its victims in silk of wires and cables in order to slowly override their minds
i honestly feel so stupid finidng out that the response was right in front of us after talking with my friends about how disappointed i was that the response wasn't anywhere to be found
I rabidly searched RUclips to see if someone else had uploaded it... I am amazed that I couldn't find anything... Like... Skarrow, bless him, solved a bunch of binary code and unlocked a 25 solution puzzle for the Icebreaker catalyst. I did the equivalent of finding my glasses on my own face... :b
To be fair there is no marker to point it out but it does open up the possibility there might be more like that out in the dungeon somewhere we will have to keep an eye out if there is any more.
@@MynameisByf I have finished all of the dungeon besides getting the icebreaker, even have the caty from a rando doing the puzzle while running it with me. I have actively looked at that console because I noticed the datapad that you interact with to get that line, its like those that sit around the puzzles when they spawn in but aren't solved yet, but I never got the option to collect it. it might be that its glitchy like many other things in the dungeon are. It could also be that some people have collected it and not understood what it is, like if they are early on in their quest but the message spawns because someone else in the team is at the point where it should spawn for them. Thus they collect it but don't have the full context of all the dialog and forget it. I am not entirely sure if that happened to me honestly, I might have hit it, not heard it over the sounds of combat and then forgotten about it due to me focusing on combat as I vaguely think I did get a button interaction in that room but can't remember what it did. so I'm not sure if I'm thinking I remember it due to this video or if I really did collect it and just got so focused on the fight that now I don't really remember it

We were all talking over each other as my friend was telling the other guy about the puzzles he (his first run through) will have to do once the bugs are fixed or with a fresh team. Honestly given what learned about the nature of The Veiled Statues from The Final Shape...I suspect that Clarity Control is the possible culprit...or the consciousness inside of it. Remember, we fought Atraks-1 inside a chamber to the one holding Clarity Control, and it seems her transformation to an Exo happened in this chamber alone. Then keep in mind that Clarity Control sent Clovis to built a Vex gate similar to the one built by the Corrupted Puppeteer above Europa. The Clovis AI also refers to Clarity Control as coming from "another dimension"...when The Witness and the Penitent are beings of this universe/dimension. I think there is something very different in function and purpose Clarity Control had to the other Veiled Statues.
Yeah I'm still not convinced it was the witness speaking to Clovis, Calus and the Sol Divisive. I think some or all three were actually contacted by the Winnower or something else even more alien as you're saying
That is a great point: the particular feature of Clarity is that it causes replication (we see this in the Clovis Bray journals as the statue’s defense against being moved; given the power Atraks-1 has in DSC and here it is heavily implied that the Exo frame is able to incorporate some power directly associated with Clarity). If the statue is connected to the broader Witness/Veil network, it is certainly possible that something is tapped into the network (Egrigore, an Echo, etc) and reaching out through Atraks’s body.
This is weird but I hope Vesper Central becomes a recurring character. Like a less OP version of Rasputin and a less *peculiar* version of Failsafe. And maybe someone who is a bit more familiar with the Brays and their research
You know, I recall that one of the species the Cabal dominated was something that lived as creatures inside of ARC energy. I dont remember it off the top of my head but it would be interesting if this was bungie deciding to start using that faction.
@@ianchandler3282So! I looked it up. They are called the “Arkborn” and the entity specifically in this lore (btw this comes from the warlock helmet for the base Leviathan raid) is named “Fulminator” but I’m unsure if that’s a title or a name proper.
The energy around this dungeon reminds me a lot of "The Tomb" from the Three Body Problem series. A beacon left by a long lost higher dimension civilization that reached out to ours and left a distress call. Vesper's host has a beacon being built to reach out to something "incomprehensible", and the only thing we know about it is a distress call.. In the book series, it was a mistake brought through dimensional decay. Here it seems intentional.
Has anyone walked through the initial scan on Vesper Station in a full set of Spacewalk Gear? "Your gear is out of order." maybe hint to something, especially considering the little flavor v/o when you walk in with Outbreak Perfected.
You can also tell that whatever is on the other side of the anomaly is human related because their initial message used the phrase “Hello World”, to test whether or not the message has gone through. “Hello World” is a phrase often used in software or hardware testing by HUMAN engineers. It would be a stretch to think anything not related to, or created by human would be on the other side.
Wait... "Spinners"? Corruption from possible poison/venom? Possible unknown entity? 8-eyed Eliksni?... Wasn't there "giant 'spider-like'" creatures talk from that Hunter Helmet from Lightfall???
Well, if I were to hazard a guess. I think I know the intent of this Lodi entity: to come back to Sol. The Odysseus protocol is making me think that the goal is to return home, as was the goal of Odysseus in the Odyssey. As for what unseen hand could be moving pieces…I want to guess Nezarek may be a suspect as he is afflicting Missraks-Kell with his curse and he did promise he would return. But, I honestly believe that there are too many unknowns to be certain and that exploring this dungeon and the entire ‘season’ as a whole is going to be the best way to figure this out.
@@BrazarBthey need to utilize that stuff way more. What if Mithrax’s cybernetics were upgraded by the Quicksilver Nanites? What if survivors of the Devil Splicers found them and used them to create a powerful new machine cult?
@@Gojjoebut that's more of a side effect of the anomaly being built rather than its own separate dedicated thing like siva, the quicksilver literally being old siva does make more sense as a comparison being nanites controlled by something
In the programmer world, "Hello World!" tends to be a default text string used while testing something, especially on the first run of new code language or a new framework. This may be another clue for the message received from the anomaly to be of human origin
I wonder if with this Echo that Fikrul has, there is MORE than one "Survivor" of the Witness's depredations? Maybe there is another, to whom the Vesper Dungeon alludes to?
I think it'd be super interesting if Lodi was the ship AI of the Yang Liwei, Exodus Green left long stranded after its inhabitants slipped the bonds of this dimension.
Running theory Imao is each episode lends a small bit of prep for Frontiers, the Antagonist, the Mission, and the Departure. Firmly believe what ever comes in Frontiers we need to read between the lines of what happens in these Episodes. Maya, Vikral, and probably Vivu Arath in Hersey which hopefully brings us back to the Dreadnaught where with Savathun and Eris's help we are to fix it and launch into this new era.
There is a very good possibility that the puppeteer is actually Atraks herself. When you kill her in the deep stone crypt raid, she doesn't have a ragdoll, but rather just vanishes away like the other replications. In vesper's host, she DOES have a ragdoll when she dies. Just a theory.
There a possibility that vesper central could be taken or transferred to a drive so we can reconnect her to the helm system like FailSafe. Although maybe she want to stay to monitor the situation in vesper station but we can’t leave her alone here. Besides the possibility of story if she is willing to help us with the echo situation or hell maybe reintroduce her to Clovis so she can “have a nice chat with him”
35:34 My theory has always been that Raniks is a servitor(s) that has integrated Replication Orb tech that Atrix-1 possessed in DSC, given how its shed servitors despawn with a purple glow. This tech may have gone rampant due to the same virus that infects our augments. My second theory is that the Corrupted Puppeteer could have arrived from the replication orbs we tossed out the Morningstar’s airlock, but the Vesper AI confirmed that the Morningstar’s debris field broke quarantine. Either way its a System Shock 2 plot where the consequences of our previous actions lead to this.
Hear me out, the message we received is THE original of Clovis bray stranded out in space trying to get back. Only bray could figure out how to interface with atraks with some discovered vex technology that he found seeking them out. Lakshmi couldn't be the only golden age person capable of mastering vex technology. I believe this is bray coming back
I just finished playing Dead Space just before the dungeon released, and when i went into it for the first time it felt like i just jump back into the USG Ishimura.
I just want more Clovis Bray, Bray family involved in this next destiny story. It has so much potential, really (like, he's still sitting on Europa). My favorite topics, and StrategOS of course
there is one more hive mind that we know of that I haven't seen anyone mention: the Noesis from the Entelechy lore book. Given how The Witness annihilated them, I don't think that is them, but it could be their Echo.
2 theories 1: its an alternate universe where the vex can comprehend omnipotence and either gain control of the light or are are lightbearers themselves (which could explain why the arc through the portal is of a different color, cause its an alternate arc from an alternate universe) 2: its one of the failed alternate universes/timelines that is chasing Elsie bray (possibly her sister Ana bray). She feels betrayed in one of the timelines that Elsie doesnt teach Ana stasis and in the end learns it herself and kills Elsie in that timeline. It can be possible that they also won against the witness but that lead them to making a portals to see through time and look at other branches that has failed/won against the witness.
Aside from how the same cardinal elements can be used in one way or another as damage types in-game, the orange Arc energy is especially interesting. I never gave it much thought my first run-through, and never again on subsequent runs, but I wanna think that the orange Arc is corrupted, or some sort of Resonance. The colors seem a bit similar to the same Resonance that Rhulk and the Witness (and ourselves as in the Darkness Nut in RoN) wield. How else can you really explain fubbed up Arc energy other than Resonant Arc? Maybe that's an actual thing, or it really is a different form of Light-- or maybe it's a combo of both-- corrupted Lightbearers in conjunction in ununified Darkness.

Hey Byf, just wanted to thank you for everything you’ve done for the community. It’s my jump off point. I love the game, I just can’t anymore. Thank you for all the stories, I wish you the best.
I thnik the message comes from those people they showed in the concept art in the live stream. Edit: my reasons are as follows: 1: Lodi is the name of a city irl so this "Incomprehensible destination" could be called 'Lodi' as well, also the way they described the new destination matches the 'Incomprehensible' part. 2: Moonsick, adrift refers to the conditions in which those people live. 3: Odysseus as Byf mentioned is kind of hinting at some type of voyage to the unknown hence the code name of the next saga is Frontieres.
After a long day of work I get to see Byf, the lore daddy, made a new video. Thank you for continuing to make content. You are why I know so much and care so deeply about this game. Thank you Byf
I really enjoyed discovering the story as we played. This was one of the first time in a few years that you can play content as a lore nerd, and not just immediately know what was going on. There was actual mystery to it.
Yknow what, wild guess, but what if it’s Durandal? The Nine have the ability to see into Marathon, Myth, and Halo, which is the canonical explanation for the Bungie anniversary weapons, they’re adaptations of objects the nine saw in other realms, and have created for Xur to hand out as prizes. At least two Mida weapons, minitool and Multitool, have been brought into Destiny’s universe, most likely by the Ishtar collective experimenting with dimensional travel. So what if the Anomaly is Durandal going “GUESS WHO ESCAPED HEAT DEATH?”
Since the color of the arc blasts is mentioned as relevant, I wanna point out that it's unnatural color is very similar to the energy used by pyramid tech, and darkness.
Remember cloves sent so many frames through the vex gates all over the system I feel it could be one that Survived and now is trying to get back but it's been corrupted in some way.🤔🤔
Clovis Bray didn’t make the Anomaly. Atraks and her Fallen Hive-mind built it. The Station ai wasn’t talking about Clovis building the Anomaly. Also Imo, if there was ever a missed opportunity for SIVA, this is it. In lore, right after the failed heist of Outbreak Perfected, Atraks (still fallen at this time) tells Eramis that “I still see what the House of Devils can be” they could have used that. Can you imagine Atraks-1 enhanced by SIVA? That would be the coolest thing ever. Also, i think the reason why Atraks “prime” body looks so damaged is because she survived the crash of the Morning Star Orbital Facility. It damaged her and maybe even warped her mind. I hope we see her again someday. Oh, and video starts at: 4:07

39:09 unless Maya’s influence through the Echo is changing Vex to this point. Most likely not but a possibility bc of Maya giving Vex character. Could be possible that she got vex to gain some emotion.
Considering how often real culture, history, and mythology are used in Destiny, I decided to take a look at the name associated with the response from the Vesper Anomaly, Lodi, and the most historically significant connection I could find is that Lodi was the name of the last dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate, the dynasty falling after a trade route declined and was abandoned, leading to its treasury declining and making the dynasty vulnerable to internal political issues, with one of the dynasty's own governors allowing a rival empire to invade his kingdom, resulting in the death of the last Sultan, who was a poor political leader, and the end of the dynasty. With this info in mind, I believe Lodi is the designation of the vessel the message came from, it's passengers having gone Moonsick after being left adrift following the Collapse, given the naming after specifically the last dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate, eventually resulting in a mutiny, afterwards enacting a mission to return home given the Odysseus protocol, with Odysseus's story, the Odyssey, being about a return home after participating in a conflict, with Vesper Station acting as the host to receive the message of the Lodi's return. Another comment mentioned that the people on board the Lodi may be Jovians, Xur's species, and thus having a connection to the Nine, so the internal conflict may have stemmed from one group accepting the Nine while the other rejected them, with those who accepted them winning in the end and being changed into the Jovians as a result. Any way you slice it though, this mystery is fascinating, can't wait to see it unfold in the future.
Byf Have you heard the voice lines If you bring certain exotics into the mission through the starting door And if you complete the ice breaker mission they changes well One of the voice lines is for the AI bow
Not sure if this could mean anything but if you look up odysseus it bring up a Greek war hero, specifically the guy who came up with the Trojan horse idea. Is that a hint to something is odysseus protocol a Trojan horse plan?
I think that the Corrupt Puppeteer is an Atrix-copy taken over by the Unbound Mind, an entity like the Locus of Communion but with a Bray-tech spin of Vex/Exo-mind shenanigans. Also I don't think Lodi is behind the Anomaly, it sounds more like an exploratory AI that is stuck at the other end of the Anomaly and not the intended recipient.
It's likely that Karrho *was* integrated and Atraks was using him as bait, with more "processing power" being used on bringing Yaraksis closer. It's a common theme in these kinds of stories where one corrupted (potentially close to the mc) is positioned in a way where they can bring the mc into the fold/into the villains hands easier then mobbing them. The lore tab never says anything about his eyes or about the Marauder sounding strange so that chance is still open
This one is phenomenal. Actually getting a bit excited for what's next.

studying abroad and haven’t gotten to play games at all. Been waiting on this one for like a week to hear what on earth happened that’s got everyone so excited. Yaaaay!!
I don't know if it tells us anything new but there's a few parallels with this dungeon and Pressage. Contact with an entity beyond the anomaly, creation of a hive mind etc.
Theory time🥳 In the new dungeon Vespers Host, we can come across a couple of data pads that give us dialog from the station AI. We also face an Atraks frame, this is likely to not be Atraks at least not anymore. ●Atraks: Atraks used her engineering expertise to combine Eliksnii tech with Exo tech, this allows Atraks to upload her conscience to multiple frames at the same time, while the main "copy" is safe in some data somewhere. This frame seems to be under the control of something else, as I'll get to later. ●Message: The first data pad we get reveals a message that we received from the anomaly. The message is as follows; "Lodi transmitting [break] Status Moonsick, adrift [break] Odysseus Protocol active" (the [break] is added by me to show that it wasn't continuous) ●Anomaly: This machines blueprints were given to clovis by Clarity. Clovis never finished the machine, however the rouge House Salvation engineers that fled to this station found the blueprints and finished the work. It seems to have some sort of "calling" function similar to that of Clarity and the K1 Anomaly. ●Entity in control: The thing in control of the Atraks frame wasn't in control until the construction reached a certain point. This entity uses Atraks as a sort of host, inorder to 'mind control' the rest of the nearby Eliksnii. ●Lodi: Lodi is of human origin, as it reffers specifically to Odysseus. Lodi is likely some early golden age colony ship AI, though it could be a person or people. This Lodi, says their status is adrift (lost in space) and "moonsick" this means whatever is sending this is "insane" "deranged" or "not of their right mind". Then they go on to say that the Odysseus Protocol has been activated. Pulling from the story of Odysseus, this could be reffering to the point were Odysseus and his men have to either tie themselves down or plug their ears to protect themselves from sirens. ●Main meat of theory: Back in season of the splicer, we got a line (link below) about an Eliksnii legend, Skira The Watcher, she is quoted to be a shapeshifter and manipulator. (This may or may not be a real entity, and this entity is said to have been defeated long ago, though the Eliksnii never actually killed this entity and instead just ignored Skira until she stopped messing with them [sound familiar?]) So its seems a human ship got lost in deep space, and encountered this Skira. They then realized that others started acting differently behaving oddly, being not of their right mind. This leads to the Odysseus Protocol, an attempt to shutout whatever is happening. (This being the adrift, moonsick, and Odysseus Protocol) this anomaly is built, and a post DSC raid Atraks it corrupted by Skira, Skira then stalks the rest of the Eliksnii making them paranoid and afraid. The mind controlled Eliksnii are quoted to "Not seem right" "as if they are not looking at (our main Eliksnii in this lore, Korassiks)" Then finally Clarity gave Clovis the plans for this machine, Clarity is aligned with the Witness, the Witness and the black fleet were at Riis during their collapse. It is common for one Disciple to arrive before the fleet (Nezarec for Sol, Rhulk for Fundsment, so on). We know there is still one unaccounted Disciple left, an unnamed one. It is possible that this Skira is our final Disciple, that she was the herald for the Riis collapse as Nezarec was for Earth's collapse. That Skira is back now or coming back. We might see a story about finding this derelict human ship or something to do with Skira

The people on the other side of the Anomaly…it’s the Jovians. Xurs species. Little known fact, in D1 Grimoire it’s revealed that Xur is a “Jovian” and Petra Venge often theorized that he was “the repurposed corpse of a European Colonist…but there’s no known evidence of Colonies on Europa.” (This is ironic as they gave us this second bit of info in the Beyond Light Collectors Edition Lore)
Some very fascinating bits of dialogue Xur can say is: “We saw the Colony fall, not knowing what we saw.”
“The Awoken didn’t have a choice. *We did.”*
“For Organic Life to survive it requires constant Adaptation.”
“We came up from the Dust, and buried into flesh for warmth and became…something new.”
“I feel that there are a great many consciousness impinging on mine.”
“There are no birds where I come from…the things that fly…are like shadows.”
To this day, we have never seen the other Jovians. They seem to have been survivors of the European Eventide Colony that the Nine struck a deal with. They survive, in exchange…their will is not their own. The Hive-Mind, collective consciousness. The Jovians, and by extension, the Nine are behind this I think. Oh and video starts at: 4:07

Outbreak Perfected: "You're contaminated with banned technology. Security will be alerted. Be more careful, all right?"

Bouncing off of this, there’s a part of me that wonders if the Corruption mentioned is a submind of sorts from the Lodi AI, transmitted through a different means to send a more complete distress signal via the Anomaly after Atraks’ corrupted frame built it
Odysseus could be the AI itself trying to transmit its full conscious into our local sphere possibly
Bungo saw Byf's video complaining about not enough lore in raids and dungeons and took it personally
That's what I was thinking when I saw the lore cards.

@garrettviewegh9028 As long as we don't have to deal with Nimbus the entire time, that'd be pretty interesting.

I think the Odysseus protocol is the most important part of the reply. Odysseus was the famous greek figure, that came up with the idea of the Trojan horse in the Trojan war. That to me really could open a can of worms as to the nature of that protocol.

Its very Dead Space-like and I love it. We need more derelict ghost ships and space stations in Destiny

It could also be that some people have collected it and not understood what it is, like if they are early on in their quest but the message spawns because someone else in the team is at the point where it should spawn for them. Thus they collect it but don't have the full context of all the dialog and forget it.

You'll likely also need a full set including the dungeon weapons. Because it's gear. Not just Armor.
Nothing happens, plus technically you cant get a "full set" as theres no kinetic slot weapon.
Your gear is in order if you do the Elsie Special, which means only using sniper rifles and pulse rifles
Presumably the "giant spiders" loretab was just Neomunians being unfamiliar with eliksni, it sounds like 8 eyes is rare but not new for eliksni
I mean... I think it might just be a mechanism. The Spiders weren't exactly friendly to the Eliksni.

Besides the possibility of story if she is willing to help us with the echo situation or hell maybe reintroduce her to Clovis so she can “have a nice chat with him”
The Codename Apollo concept art shown on the Revenant stream showed what looked to be a human(?) civilization, maybe it's connected to this

2 theories
1: its an alternate universe where the vex can comprehend omnipotence and either gain control of the light or are are lightbearers themselves (which could explain why the arc through the portal is of a different color, cause its an alternate arc from an alternate universe)
2: its one of the failed alternate universes/timelines that is chasing Elsie bray (possibly her sister Ana bray).

Edit: my reasons are as follows:
1: Lodi is the name of a city irl so this "Incomprehensible destination" could be called 'Lodi' as well, also the way they described the new destination matches the 'Incomprehensible' part.
2: Moonsick, adrift refers to the conditions in which those people live.
3: Odysseus as Byf mentioned is kind of hinting at some type of voyage to the unknown hence the code name of the next saga is Frontieres.
I've been looking forward to you covering this lore ever since I read the lore tab for our armor sets.
Alternate Rampancy.. sounds familiar like the logic plague from the Gravemind/the Flood
I’m so glad Byf is here to explain this dungeon because I was so intrigued and confused
I thought the purple eyed corruption on atraks had to do with Fikrul. All the other fallen he turns undead have a purple-pink glow to their eyes.
I too thought this. It makes you wonder who is inside Fikrul’s Echo, doesn’t it?
I’ve been looking forward to this!
After a long day of work I get to see Byf, the lore daddy, made a new video. Thank you for continuing to make content. You are why I know so much and care so deeply about this game. Thank you Byf
Fun fact: if you go in with outbreak equipped it makes different commentary including something about bringing in banned technology.
Would be amazing, but I really don't think so.
In the heart room, on a cart, there’s an interaction with a rack to “place” something, but nothing gets placed when interacting.
Most likely the shelf is a reused asset that had a place option elsewhere. We've this kind of thing before
Since the color of the arc blasts is mentioned as relevant, I wanna point out that it's unnatural color is very similar to the energy used by pyramid tech, and darkness.
Remember cloves sent so many frames through the vex gates all over the system I feel it could be one that Survived and now is trying to get back but it's been corrupted in some way.🤔🤔
“8 eyes means he’s handsome” is such a wonderful tidbit. It’s delivered so naturally and adds so much character, humanity and worldbuilding to Fallen.

18:39 byf... YOU NEVER FINISHED BEYOND LIGHTS LORE BOOKS!!
BYF YOU’RE THE BEST!!! I’m on an 8 hour drive and was really wishing you had a video on Vesper. Perfect timing.
That's wild Byf, I have never seen that prompt, well done!
Oh, and video starts at: 4:07
Siva is just a filler to destiny so it’s just stupid
Stfu siva was one of the coolest lore dumps@@thatoneguy1553
@@thatoneguy1553 they refuse to bring it back in a meaningful way because its a sign of their greatest achievement in d1.

My current theory is that signal is going to be what pushes us to take the dreadnaught and travel past the solar system in frontiers.

W'rkncacnter awaits...
How based that shit would be.
Hey! Your new threat is a thing that can break reality and takes a nap in a star. Have fun 😅
@@MynameisByf If it's the W'rkncacnter, we're all going to be wishing for the Witness back
@@MynameisByf on god, really hoping we get even a brief reference to it with Marathon on the horizon, even better if it turns out to be the big bad of the new saga.
I really want some eldritch nightmare puppeteers we have no hope of even harming, let alone killing
51:28 What if the message from the other side of the anomaly is actually from an alternate timeline, like Elsie Bray?
I’ve been waiting for this video all day. I work as a mailman and it was going to be my audiobook…. Now it’s my bedtime story
Personally I think this message at the end is to do with project Apollo because the teasers we got show that the people may be human in nature.
I just have that gut feeling.
(Pls like so byf sees this)
39:09 unless Maya’s influence through the Echo is changing Vex to this point.
Byf Have you heard the voice lines If you bring certain exotics into the mission through the starting door
And if you complete the ice breaker mission they changes well One of the voice lines is for the AI bow
I've been waiting for this video. An hour long? Big W
Lodi? That does verify the codename apollo leaks somewhat
Didn't Bungie mention during the Apollo stuff that Vesper would be the first big hint at the next saga?
Can’t wait for the Anomaly to be communicating with the marathon universe
It's likely that Karrho *was* integrated and Atraks was using him as bait, with more "processing power" being used on bringing Yaraksis closer. It's a common theme in these kinds of stories where one corrupted (potentially close to the mc) is positioned in a way where they can bring the mc into the fold/into the villains hands easier then mobbing them. The lore tab never says anything about his eyes or about the Marauder sounding strange so that chance is still open
So having 8 eyes is consithered handsome in eliskni culture
This one is phenomenal. Actually getting a bit excited for what's next.
My first time traveling the halls of the station gave me the Aliens/ Event Horizon vibe too. Such a cool looking dungon and this storyline is why i play this game
studying abroad and haven’t gotten to play games at all. Been waiting on this one for like a week to hear what on earth happened that’s got everyone so excited. Yaaaay!!
the line in the class item about the white captain have many arms makes me sad we got icebreaker from this dungeon and not dregs promise
This was truly a joy to watch. Thank you for the wonderful video❤
I love how this isn't just like typical corruption of something. This is clearly so much different and more twisted than anything we've ever seen
I don't know if it tells us anything new but there's a few parallels with this dungeon and Pressage. Contact with an entity beyond the anomaly, creation of a hive mind etc.
Finally, the good good content. Thanks for your work on this!
Skira, The Watcher
Theory time🥳
In the new dungeon Vespers Host, we can come across a couple of data pads that give us dialog from the station AI. We also face an Atraks frame, this is likely to not be Atraks at least not anymore.
●Atraks:
Atraks used her engineering expertise to combine Eliksnii tech with Exo tech, this allows Atraks to upload her conscience to multiple frames at the same time, while the main "copy" is safe in some data somewhere.
This frame seems to be under the control of something else, as I'll get to later.
●Message:
The first data pad we get reveals a message that we received from the anomaly. The message is as follows; "Lodi transmitting [break] Status Moonsick, adrift [break] Odysseus Protocol active" (the [break] is added by me to show that it wasn't continuous)
●Anomaly:
This machines blueprints were given to clovis by Clarity. Clovis never finished the machine, however the rouge House Salvation engineers that fled to this station found the blueprints and finished the work. It seems to have some sort of "calling" function similar to that of Clarity and the K1 Anomaly.
●Entity in control:
The thing in control of the Atraks frame wasn't in control until the construction reached a certain point. This entity uses Atraks as a sort of host, inorder to 'mind control' the rest of the nearby Eliksnii.
●Lodi:
Lodi is of human origin, as it reffers specifically to Odysseus.
●Main meat of theory:
Back in season of the splicer, we got a line (link below) about an Eliksnii legend, Skira The Watcher, she is quoted to be a shapeshifter and manipulator. (This may or may not be a real entity, and this entity is said to have been defeated long ago, though the Eliksnii never actually killed this entity and instead just ignored Skira until she stopped messing with them [sound familiar?])
So its seems a human ship got lost in deep space, and encountered this Skira. The mind controlled Eliksnii are quoted to "Not seem right" "as if they are not looking at (our main Eliksnii in this lore, Korassiks)"
Then finally Clarity gave Clovis the plans for this machine, Clarity is aligned with the Witness, the Witness and the black fleet were at Riis during their collapse.
18:37 I mean, this isn't a complete answer to the question, but Clovis knew how to build a Vex Gate from the portal to 2082 Volantis.
