I purchased this lens refurbished from Nikon store and love this lens for low light work I do. I own the 14-24mm S as well and I’ve found that both of these lenses offer great performance and their own use cases. As you mentioned, a fun walk around lens to be sure. I’m really glad I bought this lens and continue to use, it’s fun and a good performer. BTW can’t be too bad I know Joe McNally owns one😊.
I own the 14-24 2.8 S, 24-70 2.8 S, and 70-200 2.8 S. My camera bag is now full of goodness with the 50mm MC, 24-120S, 105MC, 180-600 and 800 mm PF. Basically have majority of use cases covered. Now saving for a second camera to back up my Z9. In the meantime, the Plena is next target goal mang.
I already have the 14-30 f4 so I probably won’t be buying this lens. I did purchase the 70-180 f2.8 and love it. Great performance, smaller and lighter than the 70-200, a fantastic value. I am very interested in the 28-75 f2.8. I love that Nikon is offering this value focused trinity.
Funnily enough I started considering getting this lens just today. Would nicely complete my trinity (currently have the Tamron 35-150 and Nikon's 180-600). I badly need a lens for wider angle shots
Not a bad contender. With the focusing motor and Nikon coatings it's strange that people keep thinking this is a Tamron lens. Maybe patent design is on loan but everything else seems to be Nikon.
I think all three alternative trinity lenses are tamron designs. Whether Nikon give them the glass for them to make, or Tamron gave Nikon the design for them to construct, all 3 of those are basically exact tamrons in the sony system. haha. Who know which employees built the thing but either way they did a good job.
@@ZWadePhoto I believe there is a video out there comparing the 28-75 with the G2 for Z mount but I don't recall a video comparing it to the Sony e mount version 1 (adapted) that would be a true comparison. Either way I bought the (Nikon) version and honestly can't justify buying the 24-70 S line version. The only one I wouldn't hesitate to buy would be the 14-24 S instead of the 17-28. Unless I could maybe get it used cheap. Side note I am really waiting for the 24 1.2 for Astro.

the McNally effect, these are gonna be sold out now.

Yep, you got every corner of photography covered I'd say haha. Thanks for watching.

Same. I love a variety

I found this lens to be a lot of fun to use and the results are great. You'll love it. Thanks for watching.
Looks like a nice, reasonable alternative in those focal lengths but owning the 14-30 f/4 ill probably never have any real use for this guy.
Oh probably not. I like the idea for folks that want a whole trinity for WAY less though

I want a brighter lens than z 14-30 f/4
This is it. Unless you need 14mm, then the only other options thats even better than this is the 14-24mm f/2.8 S. Which is incredible btw.
